How am I standing for the government by saying people stop making lazy comparisons? Insteaad of standing on black lives and bodies make your point without using a vartiation "the new black"

It has zero to do with comparing the two cases - it has everything to do with people believing in the system that Manning is currently being tortured and punished by - and that has also completely failed holding the murderers of civilians accountable as well. If we just lap up all the shit we are being told, then we have learned nothing from the fact that the US justice system, and US politicians in power, are war-mongering, white supremacist fascists who would love to prosecute and torture Manning for what she did. If we simply just accept everything we are told by the powers that be, then it's just like we believe everything we're told when it comes to how great and just the US justice system when it comes to black and brown people.

There's no reason to be on the side of Republicans and Trump. Yet some people here are doing it.

It's really cool to see you calling a transwoman who has been tortured for exposing war crimes for "moronic soldier". What a disgusting statement.

"She got what she asked for" is some victim-blaming shit right there.

She literally said this was her decision to not answer the GJ questions. Why are you trying to strip her of her agency? Seems like a weird flex

It's difficult to be against the US government's unjust murder of unarmed black Americans here, while cheerleading the unjust murder of innocent Muslims overseas. There's a cognitive dissonance there which exists in liberal circles. I find it baffling and I don't want to be associated with it in any way.

That doesn't mean that it's 1:1 with Black Lives Matter (it isn't, there are some substantive differences). But let's not forget, Obama used drones to exact, without trial, the execution of American citizens, brown Muslim men.

The US should not be committing extrajudicial murders and then concealing said murders, whether foreign or domestic. Full stop.

BLM becoming the new Martin Luther King, Jr now, is it? People using dead black kids as a cudgel to hector others into accepting a narrative about the increasingly poor life decisions of Chelsea Manning is....a take I never thought I'd see.

This is some disengenious nonsense. You must be trolling.

"poor life decisions by Chelsea Manning" as if this is something she chose for herself is again putting all the blame on her and not the US justice system and its incessant punishment and torture of those who call out the war crimes the American Empire routinely commits against brown people across the world.

She bears the blame for her decision to help obtain classified information and give it to Assange for items that could in no way shape or form be considered whistleblowing.

The US bears the blame for the poor treatment she went through while incarcerated in a military prison that led to Obama commuting her sentence.

Her decision to not aid in the prosecution of Assange and WikiLeaks is her own choice, the US bears no blame for that.

I need to take a break from this thread. It's infuriating to read people not only saying she deserves torture and imprisonment, but also calling her moronic for literally exposing war crimes.

Meanwhile, not a single fucking individual has faced any consequences for *murdering* Iraqi civilians and Reuters journalists. Yet people in here calling for more torture of a whistleblower. It's disgusting to read.

I mean, what's worse, not agreeing with you and saying that Chelsea Manning is making some extremely bad decisions or saying 'honor her sacrifice or else you let Trayvon Martin die for nothing?'

Manning was a solider at the time. Someone being trans and someone being a dummy are absolutely not mutually exclusive.

That you only care about identity in that you want to use it as a rhetorical hammer against your ideological opponents is blatantly obvious here.

This thread seems to have long left the specific topic at hand and appears to have run its course.
