A few posters recommended some episodes worth watching that the guide says to skip, but I'm almost finishing watching just the "must watch" and "Maul arc" episodes and I feel pretty good with what I've seen so far. Personally I'm not a fan of the art direction in Rebels and I just want to get it over with it even though it has actually gotten pretty good.
Cool, thanks. There's this one posted on reddit.

And I agree on the artstyle. Something about the lightsabers in this one bothers me.

You mean the one with a blaster built into it? I think you'll really enjoy the season 2 finale.
I like that it looks like a staple gun.
Glad to hear you're continuing on with this! Coincidentally (or maybe not), I actually found the Geonosis arc to be the first "good" one as well.Watching S2 now:
Holocron Heist - These episodes were fine - entertaining enough in the moment but also completely forgettable (I watched them a few days ago and had to look up their plots on Wookiepedia just now because I couldn't remember anything about them)
Geonosis Arc - I actually thought this was the best arc of the series so far - a good mix of action and character moments . The battle nun continues to be cool
Grevious Arc - The first episode was kind of whatever (I feel like I've seen that exact episode like 4 times already) but the second one was a lot more interesting with the contrast between the deserter clone and Rex
The reason most people think this series is good has to do with a lot more than just lightsaber battles. Reading wiki articles is not a good way to experience any tv series. There's highlights on utube, just find the lightsaber battles and read about the rest on wiki like me!
Hilt looks a bit clunky on the show but the replica at Disney World looks really cool imo.I've seen the whole show and still hate it. Just looks clunky.
Shit I forgot they get rid of it. Yes, I was very happy when they did that.
It really does get better and better. I was always impressed by the show's ability to make minor characters like Boba Fett and Plo Koon actually interesting. And somehow a Godzilla homage worked in the Star Wars universe.Deathwatch arc - The politics were fairly interesting here, I suppose. Obi Wan's girlfriend was okay. The darksaber just appeared on The Mandalorian finale, so it was interesting to see it pop up so soon on this.
Bounty Hunters - The Seven Samurai episode. Twas fine. I liked the turtle men.
Zillo Beast arc - Poor Zillo Beast :(
Death Trap arc - Young Boba is surprisingly badass (and Aurra Sing is pretty cool too) and I actually didn't hate the cadets. Also, Plo Koon cemented himself as the best jedi because he actually uses the force in ways that make sense, like using force pull on the person he's chasing instead of just letting them get away like every other jedi involved in a chase sequence (which happens in like every episode). Also, R2-D2 is cool
Overall season 2 was a pretty decent step up from season 1 - I felt engaged by a good number of the episodes and I'm starting to feel a bit like I get why people like the show so much.
Also, I don't know why, but in the episode where they're escorting Satine, when Anakin just straight up murders that guy... there's something about the little interaction that Obi-Wan and Anakin have afterward, the "Anakin..." "what?" that is just hilarious to me.
One thing that's surprised me about the show so far is how it hardly ever (if at all) shows Anakin's dark side (like when he killed the Sand People in AOTC) - he's mostly just portrayed as a good natured maverick who does stuff that's technically against the rules but isn't really - that - bad all things considered.
It's definitely done more, uh, subtly than the prequel films. Sorry but I have to laugh at the Mortis arc being optional. It's literally the one arc that should be mandatory viewing alongside the Grievous eps between AOTC and ROTS.
Watch all highlighted recommended episodes AND the "Honorable Mentions" episodes. Skip the episodes that aren't marked at all. Also I'd recommend skipping the pilot movie, just know Anakin is given an apprentice named Ahsoka (The orange alien girl).
Don't worry about chronological order. Just watch it in the release order using this to skip the not-good stuff. The short answer as to "why" is that it's an anthology series. Every 3-4 episodes is a completely different story with completely different characters. Eventually many of them interweave. Some are sequels to others. Some are prequels to others. That's where the chronological order gets weird, but seriously don't worry about it. It all makes sense if you just watch it this way imo.

Watching the youngling arc in season 5 and its the crystal caves i saw in Jedi Fallen Order!

Someone should make a infographic version of the BDS thread. They put a lot of work into it and I think include every actual major arc.
It doesn't. It omits several arcs from that image guide that are marked as either "required" or "honorable mention", as BDS' stated focus was to include as few arcs as possible/only focus on those they found mandatory for the 'primary' story.Someone should make a infographic version of the BDS thread. Yeah, that is really it. Just nobody ever bothers to make a new edit of it.I think the existing Clone Wars infographic is fine if it was edited a bit and included season 6.

It's a tragedy that the Utapau arc (specifically the conversation about Asokha) may never be finished. It's a great piece of Anakin's fall. Now that you're done with TCW, if you want to tie up loose ends, there's a few things to read and watch.
Two fully voiced but only partially animated arcs (The Bad Batch and Crystal Crisis on Utapau) are free to watch online. The Bad Batch will also be fully completed as part of TCW season 7.
Waiting 3-4 (?) whole seasons to start bringing that in is a weird choice. Though I guess they had planned for more episodes than they ended up getting, so it's not like they got to fully realize their original goal either.

Not technically confirmed, but seemingly unlikely. We know that the Bad Batch and Siege of Mandalore arcs are in but the third is currently a question mark. Probably Ashoka's Walkabout judging from the previews.
I just watched all of season 1 and loved it so seeing a list that says only watch 4 episodes baffles me.Thanks. I've seen this before, was wondering how reliable it is (always better to get multiple people's opinions).
Someone told me to watch it in chronological order and I got stressed out trying to juggle that and the multiple recommended episodes to skip. This looks well put together; might just use this...
Their priority was, I think, actually making Anakin a good character first and foremost, which included making him likable. Your interpretation of him of a bit of a maverick is I think exactly what they were going for before they seeped the darkness in. But yeah, they designed it as an 8 episode series and spread his arc over that plan. I don't think they ever expected Lucas to sell the company in the middle and get cut off, since it was a pet project that Lucas was personally funneling millions into.Waiting 3-4 (?) whole seasons to start bringing that in is a weird choice. Not unless the episode order has expanded since they originally announced it. The announcement was for a bittersweetly small order of 12 episodes. The arcs are Bad Batch, Ahsoka's walkabout, and Siege of Mandalore.
You're not everyone. People have different tastes. And a lot of the episodes that recommends to skip, especially in the early seasons, have weaker plotting and/or are centered around characters most people don't care about/are more kid-targetting. Stuff like Jar Jar, droids, and Stinky the Hutt. If people finish the series and really enjoy it, they can always go back and watch the episodes they missed. But forced to watch everything, most people fall off the boat before they get to the good stuff, at least in my experience. Almost everyone I've seen use the guide actually grows to appreciate the show.I just watched all of season 1 and loved it so seeing a list that says only watch 4 episodes baffles me.

Glad to see another happy convert! Totally agree. The end of Season 5 was so exceptionally strong in general, but that season finale really brought the whole thing home. The next arc at the start of season 6 is also A+ imo.Started watching this series thanks to this thread, and just saw the final episode of season 5.
TheAhsoka framed arc was excellent overall but the final episode totally blew me away. Maybe the most affecting moment for me in star wars since the original trilogy, or at all. Really makes you wonder how SW history would have changed if the order hadn't fucked up so spectacularly and Ahsoka had stayed by Anakin's side. Maybe they would have both turned, maybe she could have prevented his fall. Anyway, it was pretty tragic to watch, and I thought they really nailed the end of that arc.
So thanks for this thread, the Clone Wars series has really enhanced my enjoyment of the franchise.
It was definitely, unintentionally, a great place to end the series considering the sudden cancellation. It worked out well.I think my favorite set of episodes were the Yoda mini-adventures at the end of Season 6. Not something that can carry a show, but such a perfect addendum to the universe, and one of the only times Yoda is in the spotlight as a protagonist.
The vision where he sees his ideal world and it's just all of his old friends living peacefully at the Jedi Temple, Qui-gon is alive, and Dooku never turned was a real gut punch. Especially these lines, after Yoda sees Dooku and ignites his lightsaber before Dooku greats him cheerfully:
Dooku: "Oh, Master Yoda! The adventures we had together!"
Yoda drops his guard and nods.
Yoda: "Yes... I remember."
It's the only hint we ever get towards that relationship and it shows that Yoda has lost a lot as well.
At this point I'd wait for season 7 since it's so close. While obviously Rebels more or less worked without it, I have to imagine season 7 will make certain moments more resonant. So I've finished Clone Wars last night (and fucking loved it!)
Should I wait patiently for season 7 and the watch Rebels or should I just bite the bullet, watch Rebels and then watch S7 between or after Rebels?
For me at least...What's people beef with Rebels? I think it's the best Star Wars thing out there. Happy to hear a sequel is in the works.
