They make up a fictional "Democrat" who is basically just the devil. The worse option in any outcome. No attachment to reality, they just say "Well the Democrat would worse!" to excuse them voting for the shittiest Republicans, or not voting if they're particularly pissed off at their Republican douchebag.

Someone who was going to vote for Trump, but deciding to vote for someone else is not a vote for Trump still. Its one less vote he has. That would be a win still.

Hint, she will be voting for Trump come November.

A non-vote isn't inherently a vote for Trump. You just see that a lot here because anyone frequenting this forum would be more inclined to vote for the Dem candidate than Trump so non-vote is a loss. If this woman would be a Trump vote in basically any other scenario then a non-vote from her is still positive.

Adding to the chorus that she is definitely voting for Trump. Also if she's pro-life you are almost certainly wasting your breath trying to get her to vote for any dem at any time.

Like many are saying she will probably vote Trump again. I personally can't be in the same circles as anyone that voted Trump. You had to look past a lot of racism, sexism, xenophobia, and misogyny the first time to vote for him. If you're okay with that you have no morals or values to me and I can't even speak to you. I have purged every known (and even just some suspected) Trump voters from my life because as a black gay man a vote for Trump was a vote against seeing me as a human and that I cannot forgive.

They're lost causes, simple as that.

No point in making my parents to stop supporting them, they already think the restrictions as of now will lead to some socialist democracy.

Not voting for Trump in 2020 then saying she is going to vote but not for the Democratic nominee is incredibly dangerous. Its like these people forgot 4 years under Trump or didn't pay attention.

Do people really want 4 mores of this shitshow? This is how you do it.

Idk friendo, but tbh I'll take loneliness over a conservative (or even conservative-leaning) partner any day.

Anyone who claims to be socially liberal but fiscally conservative is just a lying, embarrassed Republican unless they actually only ever vote for Libertarian Party candidates.

Both Republicans and Democrats deficit spend, but Republicans do it to transfer money to the 1% instead of away from it.

having people who voted for trump in 2016 off their gut refuse to turn out for him is a good thing. Is it ideal that they are just staying home? Obviously not but I was under the impression that these were the voters biden was supposed to bring back into the fold so maybe we have to give it more time for the reality of covid to kick in.

She isn't happy having Trump as president, but she also refuses to push the rival candidate to take his place.

Yeah she will vote for trump in November.

I would really have to go out of my way to get matched up with a Trump voter on OK Cupid. Do people not fill out the questions anymore? Most 90%+ matches I get are well left of center.

Cool she gave you an easy excuse to ghost her.
Nah, don't lower yourself to such standards OP, just tell her that it won't work out. As everyday will be like a Thanksgiving dinner with that one conservative Uncle nobody likes, but gets invited anyway. The one that can't stop being racist, homophobic/transphobic and loud + proud about it. The one that keeps going until someone at the table bites and then claims he's the victim. That's not something you want to be with everyday. So might be best to just wish her well and hope that she meets that uncle so they can live long and happy together. Who knows maybe one day mellow out a bit.

As really it'll be a stressful relationship, with her being brainwashed by big tech and Fox news and nothing you can do to stop it. Conservatives that didn't vote for Trump I can respect, but fascism is not something one can come simply ignore.

"Social liberal but fiscally conservative" is code for libertarian. My advice is to run the other way.

Also, fancy degrees do not imply intelligence, in my experience.
Not all libertarians are objectivist arseholes. Sadly it became the most known one, but anarcho-communist or libertarian-socialist exist. There also is a discussion if people should be allowed to own land in most streams of libertarinism as it steps in the principle of personal freedom and movement (you can lock someone in by that). Sadly you are correct that most that call themselves that, take the arsehole kind of libertarinism, the kind that is mostly :"I want an excuse to be a selfish prick! But I don't want to admit that to myself.".

Been single going on 20 years now. It feels great. The free time. The no expectations. If I get lonely I post on forums/twitter, etc. And I couldn't date anyone that supported or supports Trump. Thats a deal breaker.

She'll probably still vote for Trump, but there's nothing you can do.

The two-party-system is just so stupid. In my country, I can easily switch between 3 or 4 parties I feel somewhat representing my interests and those parties need to perform because I don't feel any loyalty towards them.

This is why the democrats needed a better candidate. I voted for Trump last election but just cannot do it again with a clear conscious, unfortunately I also cannot vote for Biden for the same reason so I'll probably not vote for the 1st time in two decades
Thank you for openly broadcasting what a garbage person you are capable of being, it makes it that much easier for the rest of us to ignore you.

This is more likely the case. She said she was socially liberal but fiscally conservative, whatever that means. She really couldn't even give a reason why she voted for Trump the first time other than he was running on the GOP ticket (which she also acknowledged he really wasn't a Republican anyways). We live in MA so it's true she was probably embarrassed to admit she actually voted for him.

She highly educated, has a lot more schooling/degrees than I do, so I really didn't get any of it.
It means she's American

My in-laws say the same shit, they're a walking pair of Susan Collinses with all their concerns and doubts over a candidate they'd never vote against. Thankfully the quarantine wiped out two annual family functions so I didn't have to hear FIL and his brothers regurgitate whatever old people are reading on Facebook these days.

Give me then one compelling reason to vote for Biden other than he isn't Trump? One reason to vote for someone whom rather than simply stating vulgar locker room talk about woman actually sexually assaulted and groped them and has a pretty vile history of it? We went down this road already with Trump, lessons learned. So why make this mistake again? Anyone who thinks "well you voted for Trump and he was bad" is a logical arguement for why you should also now vote for Biden is frankly a fucking idiot.
Are you implying the worst Trump has done is "locker room talk?" When he has multiple accusers of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape? The guy who walked in on teenage pageant girls? Is there a reason you believe Biden's accuser but not the many accusers of Trump?

Which isn't even getting into the awful, awful governing and policies we've seen from the Trump administration in the last three and a half years.

On topic, OP this girl is just a shy Trump voter. She will check his name and every other GOP politician in the ballot box in November. Living in a liberal area means you have to pretend you hate Trump if you want to make friends or find romantic partners.

I had an interesting video chat with a woman I've been interacting with over OKCupid for the last couple of weeks. She told me she's not going to vote for Trump in 2020 because of the way he's handling the virus, and the lack of any national policy (I didn't even get into discussing everything else shitty he's done). She said she wasn't going to vote for Biden either, she's going to write someone in (but doesn't know who it is).

I tried to explain that not voting for Biden is really a vote for Trump- she should vote for him, forgetting everything else, just so there's some sort of national policy for dealing with the virus. The exact reason why she said she's not voting for Trump. She's not going to do it.

She acknowledges what a shitty person Trump is in general, but just can't see herself voting Democrat, no matter what.

I don't get it.
It's a cult, bro. Straight up. What you're witnessing is indoctrination.

For forty years republican media has crowed about how horrible the Democrats are. Look at what you're seeing from Fox News just over the last two weeks. "Democrats want the virus to keep killing people to hurt Trump!" Hannity and everyone on Fox talks about how corrupt people are and how holding Trump accountable for his actions is a coup.

These people hear this shit ALL THE TIME. At this point the left is the legion of doom. To republicans the left is evil and you can't vote for evil no matter how awful your side is.

Guy, I would rather hit my dick repeatedly with a hammer; it would be less frustrating and painful somehow.
