I spent around 700€ last year.

For 2020, probably around 1500€ due to new gen. If I decided to get Switch too, it would add up to 2000€.

I've pre-ordered two editions of The Last of Us Part II, that's about $300 right there. I will buy RE3, Halo Infinite, and a few others that I know of now. And likely get either the Xbox or PS5 at launch. But 2020 will not be as expensive as 2019 for me, I bought over 60 games, seven consoles and glass shelves for over $1600 (good ones are expensive). That won't happen again.

If I upgrade my PC this year probably 2.5k+, if not, less than 1k for certain. I don't think Sony will announce anything that makes me buy PS5 day one.

Between the great games still to come on current consoles and the arrival of the next consoles(getting both PS5 and Xbox Series X). I would think around $1500.

Somewhere over 2500.

Still some CIB retro games left that I want and retro is expensive. Current gen only Yakuza Remastered Collection, 7 and Streets of Rage 4 for now. Switch depends on Collector's Editions for certain games.

Will be less expensive than 2018 and 2019, I reckon.

No interest in ps5, new xbox or pc.

I plan to get a summer job to build a better Pc (It will be focused on design and stuff more than gaming, but i think it still counts), so maybe around 1000€ tops. The actual build i have in mind doesn't even cost that much and last month i managed save more than ever, i feel kinda proud of myself, kek.

I will buy a ps5 plus games throughout the year so we are talking roughly 500-1000.
I am also planning to get a new TV which makes this an expensive year!

Normally I'd say just a few hundred dollars, but with the cost of a new console thrown in... probably closer to a thousand.

Given the new consoles and my gaming PC that is in need of some updated parts, somewhere between 1000-2500 easily. I don't consider this to be a significant amount of money to spend annually on a hobby.

I think I am going to be holding off on getting a next-generation console, certainly this year, at least. I am dedicating my spending in 2020 to software and I am going to try and limit that, too. I have a ton of games to play already.

I think in 2020, my definite purchases are:
The Last of Us 2
Resident Evil 3 Remake
Animal Crossing New Horizons

And then there are games that might be coming out:
Breath of the Wild 2
Bayonetta 3
Metroid Prime 4

Finally, games that have already been released that I would like to get:
Astral Chain
Control
Dead Cells
Katana Zero

I expect to spend well under $500.

I can't be sure, but I voted the 251-1000 range. I am definitly over 250 with the amount of new games I purchase each year. Including DLC, Steam Sales, ingame purchases, subscription etc. I am not sure if I get beyond the 1000 though.

$251-$1000 sounds about right. Will be getting Xbox Series X day one with a few games I'm sure. Then will most likely be buying random things throughout the year but focusing on backlog.

I honestly don't want to think too hard about this because we've got consoles on the horizon and I'll be getting at least one of them day one.

Edit: I took a look at my 2019 spendings at a couple different retailers and it looks like I spent roughly 1200-1500 on physical games this year + 300 for a second switch for Kat, so we almost hit 2k this year :X, this also doesn't include games that Ketkat bought that I've been able to more or less mooch for free since she lives with me. I'm hoping to tone it down a bit next year but new consoles will balloon this a bit too.

I only make about 30k a year so really this is really unreasonable and unsustainable.

2019 was a lighter year than usual. I think I only spent $400-$500, all on games. (and ~$250 was spent on Black Friday stocking up)

2020 will probably be around the same unless I get a PS5. It will depend on how Sony launches the damn thing.

I've been saving up for this year for the last two years. I'm planning on spending somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 including a new tv. I'm prepared to spend up to 2000 this fall. I have about 3000 in my account for games right now. I don't want to blow all my savings though, so gonna try to keep it under 2000. Wanna have money saved for when PSVR2 comes out

Currently game wise, I'm only planning on buying FF7 and Dying Light 2 on day 1. I'm sure I'll pick up a new game with the new console too. But otherwise I'll only buy games on a steep sale.

Atleast 12 games at launch with PS5 at release I'd say 250 to 1K.
Buying a 4k TV wouldn't be counted in this I think.

After buying a ps4 pro for black friday ive decided im going to get more into console gaming. I avoided it for a long time but thanks to the switch and ps4 i decided i can deal with 30fps gaming again.

I'm buying cyberpunk on steam and animal crossing on switch.

Nothing else really interests me at the moment. As of right now I'm not bothering with PS/Xbox anymore, unless something changes.

A little bit more than a grand, I would say around 1300ish. Maybe less than a grand depending on Sony's stand with BC. PS5 can go from day uno to a 2021/2022 purchase real quick if Sony decides to scum it out with full priced PS5 remasters come launch day.

Gonna be a big year. Looking at PS5, new tv, MacBook Pro, a switch. Luckily most games I'll be getting for the systems will be older. I'm holding off on practically every game this year to get them on sale towards the end with better performance.

Unless I wind up buying a new laptop this year (which I'd like to eventually, but it will probably take me another year or so to save up the money), there's no way I'm coming anywhere close to $1000. I'd guess that I'll wind up spending somewhere in the $4-500 range between new games, steam sales, and Humble Choice for the months I don't pause.

Should be changing careers this year with a decent pay bump, then finally move out. With that I'll be buying a new TV and PC which will probably already put me in the top category. PS5 and the crazy amount of games this year, I'm scared.

2019 I only spent $374 (plus taxes)
Resident Evil 2 - 60 (sold for 25)
Days Gone - 40 (sold for 24)
Devil May Cry V - 60
Fire Emblem TTH - 60
Dragon's Dogma - 30
Death Stranding - 60
Borderlands 3 - 30
PSN 1 year - 34
TOTAL $235

I either got those games day one, or within a week of their launch, except for Days Gone, they had a sale like a two months later. I also sold a bunch of older games that I played and platinumed last year, (God of War, Spider Man, etc). I honestly lost count.

2020, I am planning on spending over $2500 because I have to do a total gen refresh.

PS5 - 500
3 PS5 games - 180
LG OLED c10 - 2500
Final Fantasy VII Remake - 60
Persona 5 Royal CE - 90
Animal Crossing NH - 60
The Last of Us Part 2 - 60
Ghost of Tsushima - 60
Cyberpunk 2077 - 60
Resident Evil 3 - 60
TOTAL $3630

I will be waiting on some reviews to make decisions (like Persona 5 Scramble), but next year is looking very promising. A lot of spending though. It's OK, because this is something that I will only do once every gen. I am also considering Xbox Series X, but it will depend on the exclusives.

My goal is just to spend less than last year, which sounds insane given that a new generation of consoles is coming out, but also holy shit did you SEE how much I spent last year, this is still actually doable even if you factor in the purchase of a PS5 (sorry Xbox, you'll have to wait/I'm never buying one because all your games are on PC now yay). Buying an Oculus Quest will do that to your budget.

I hope these will not be my famous last words.

Not planning on spending any at the moment. Plenty of games in the backlog, plenty coming via PS+. Doubt I will pick up a PS5 at launch so long as my Pro is still working. If BOTW2 comes out I'll get that though.

I have been selling some stuff and might be selling more hardware in the future. Current games I think about might be Ghost of Tsushima, maybe Cyberpunk? I definitely want to get a new GPU for better 4K gaming while trying to sell the old one. Wanna get to GC for Rocket League until I am 35, so not much to spend there. Should be a cheap year wrt buying new games.

So I guess the new nVidia GPU I want will be about 800 Euro, selling my old one for 400 to 500 would be nice. Not sure if I want the new consoles or not, but since it is new hardware it will be hard to resist.

------- Software Bought ------
January
Metro Exodus Gold Edition - 20 Euro
7 Days to Die: 12 Euro
Shenmue III: 40 Euro
Doom: 4 Euro
Game Pass: 40 Euro

February:
Wolcen: 30 Euro

May:
Xbox Live 55 Euro
Spider-Man DLC 14 Euro
Kovaak 2.0 10 Euro
Burnout Revenge 10 Euro
Splinter Cell: Conviction 8 Euro

DOOM Eternal Deluxe Edition
Resident Evil 3

Definite 2020 purchases:
Cyberpunk 2077
Ghost of Tsushima

Guess we'll see what comes out of the launch announcements. Might be one or two more games.

2019 ended up somewhere around €800. Spent more than usual because I got a Wii U and a bunch of stuff for it.
In 2020 I'll be spending even more.

Sights set on a new GPU and a variable sync 1440p monitor. That's like €1000 already.
Have vague hopes of maybe getting a Switch, Series X and/or a PS5. I don't crap gold though, so probably I'll end up pushing that to next year.

PS5 at launch and a few launch titles since I have a big backlog i'll be bringing over from PS4. I plan to trade in my PS4 PRO so hopefully not too much
more than about $500 CAD. 2019 was far more expensive since I upgraded to 4K HDR TV for the first time and I traded in my slim for a pro.

With Final Fantasy VII deluxe, animal crossing, cyberpunk, and Phantasy Star just in spring. Then we have the new XboxX in winter. Yeah probably close to $1,000. Who knows what other games between then.

Planning to get Index, so that alone is 1100€... Maybe 1440p144hz display too, add few games and probably near 2k€.
(I have saved funds steam trading cards for index, so thankfully I don't have to take everything out of bank account).
