From that list I am excited for:
  • The Ascent
  • CrossfireX Campaign by Remedy (couldn't care less about the multiplayer)
  • Echo Generation
  • The Gunk
  • Halo Infinite
  • Flight Simulator
  • Psychonauts
  • Scorn
  • Twelve Minutes
  • Warhammer 40K: Darktide
Pretty solid list for me, and I think all but one on game pass. Some other games on the list sound interesting but I know nothing about them yet.

There is a good chance Bethesda has a game this year, either Wolfenstein or Starfield... but we aren't hearing anything there til the deal is finalized. Plus some other unannounced surprises I am sure.

And to think this is still another year before the vast majority of Xbox Studios has had enough time to get their games out after being acquired. Kind of a prelude to what I am sure will be a fucking ridiculous 2022/2023 in terms of game pass.

are all these coming to gamepass day-an-date??
I think so. Crossfire X campaign isn't though.

The Ascent, The Medium, Halo Infinite, Crossfire, and Flight Sim all have my attention. Also a plus that they're all Gamepass!

Of all the exclusives, and despite whatever claims about its demise, Halo is always the one exclusive that makes me feel like I'm really missing out.

I'd rather have Halo than any other exclusive from the other platform holders.

Dope, I'm probably gonna be picking up a Series X this year for gamepass and playing with a few friends who aren't on the PS5!

Not only no launch games but also a lackluster first year. And on top of that the last few Xbox One years were also meh. Hopefully Halo Infinite delivers.

Pretty good list. And if these are all coming day and date to Gamepass, it's an excellent list!

why isn't Grounded listed?

'Timed exclusivity' is still exclusivity.

The issue is that at no time in the article does it state anything about being timed, when some of them are. I get that they are trying to push forward with Xbox stuff, but yeah, it should say timed for those that apply.

We got another 5 years before things start happening boys. Enjoy game pass.
I think 2022 should be stacked unless a lot of things get pushed back due to the pandemic. Xbox has 30+ Dev teams now if you count the multi-team studios they have/picked up and Xbox is signaling they are not yet done growing their stable of studios.

Guess the new Forza Motorsport is absolutely a 2022 game, or am I reading too much into this?

I think half the new teams are probably still working on multi platform games but I guess we will see.

Yes, will be interesting to see what Xbox/Bethesda do once the deal is finalized early this year. It was recently that Spencer mentioned he doesn't need PlayStation to make the Bethesda deal work. Seems like a signal of what's to come.

Between the titles that are actually mp and those that are temp exclu, I can safely say nothing of interest for me.
Good.

CTRL+F: Turn-based
0 Results found.

Well, maybe game pass will have some more stuff I care about by the end of the year. DQ XI S is doing the job for now.
This is turn based (not sure if it will be on gamepass day one)

Also have you played battle chasers? One of the best turn based games I have played.

Quite a lot of really cool medium sized and smaller games. Really pleased about snagging a Series X

It's a pretty great list already imo.
Also everybody knows that Forza Horizon 5 is coming and maybe Starfield too.

what caught my eye is that most games have no release window besides 2021.

On first glance, and admittedly there were a few games here I wasn't aware of or had forgotten, this list doesn't do much for me. COVID no doubt partially responsible but it feels like it's going to take a long time for Microsoft's huge first party stable to hit their stride. If it wasn't for Game Pass I doubt I'd play more than two or three. Thanks to GP I'll certainly be giving a fair few a try.

Halo Infinite (MP), Twelve Minutes, Song of Iron, Tunic and Sable appeal most.

It's certainly a list.

Tunic and Gunk are the only ones that excite me here, though I've never been the biggest fan of MS' tentpole franchises in the first place.

I know we still have some years before MS' buying spree really starts to pay off (in ways that interest me anyway), but my playtime with my XSX has really dropped significantly. Even bought a few multiplat games for the PS5, which I didn't expect to do heading into this gen.

The smaller projects really interest me on this list. The "big" exclusives will start rolling out late in the year and churn out at a better pace come 2022.

That said, it is interesting to see the difference between Microsoft and Sony's approach to new game announcements following the console reveals. Sony came out announcing first-party titles with a 2020-2021 release date. Microsoft is showing CG trailers of things that appear multiple years away. I'm sure there are unannounced 2021 games, but it would be nice to see those instead of CG announcements of games in pre-production and insiders doing winky faces.

I was talking about obsidian double fine, places like that too

Only difference between Sony and Microsoft is that there's a date of 2021 at the end of their cg trailers. Half of them will probably be delayed and shown off another 6-7 times. Prefer Microsoft's close to the chest approach more tbh in terms of release dates

Boggles my mind that every gen we see a weakening of slates until the 3rd year when devs are fully comfortable with the hardware but the fandom seems to forget this every time?

it's a solid second year release schedule imo. There's also a couple of surprises for e3 hidden I think, whether that's covid reducing confidence that they will actually hit 2021 or the fact that the game itself is still unannounced remains to be seen.

Also gotta love the entitlement of the mindset that Xbox has to take other platforms into account, the list is the list and it's technically correct. Xbox doesn't care about your forum points lol

Pretty underwhelming list, but there are bound to be some unannounced games, too. It's only January.

Aren't we expecting a new Forza of some kind, for example?

That's..... Not good to be honest.
I'm here daily and up to date with everything all the time and reading the list makes me think "what are half of these games that I never heard of before?".

But it doesn't affect me, that's not why I bought the Series X, but still, ouch, hope that's not fuel for the fire and the folks out there.

But then this is only a 2021 list and maybe misleading for the eye anyway.

Cant wait for Scorn, looks amazing. And Flight Sim on Xbox is gonna be really cool.

Flight Sim is a massive one for me. Many, many hours going to be sunk into that one. Even more so than Sea of Thieves which I've only been playing a couple of weeks...and half a day can disappear in that sea faring world before I know what the hell happened. It is bloody great.

I'll try everything that comes to Game pass and perhaps there will be some gems. Scorn and Halo, obviously, will have my attention when they appear. Effin love where Xbox is heading...I guess I'm more patient than some. 😄

This year is going to be such a let down no matter the platform between lack of games even in development for next gen consoles and those that are being fucked by Covid

Hopefully more are coming. It's an underwhelming list for my taste, but I understand that COVID will impact a lot of studios and projects this year. I hope to find some diamonds in there though. Usually there are two or three games that unexpectedly shine throughout the year.
