Pretty much confirms that they are not backtracking. I guess the outcry worked, but I really don't see this as a positive for the players in these countries. They could simply create a free PSN account from another region before, and linked it with that. On top of that, the majority of the complaining came from people that are seemingly not from these countries.

Puerto Rico isn't even a country where PSN is unavailable wtf

Puerto Rico is there, you just have to choose United States first and then select Puerto Rico from the subsequent list

This just highlights the gigantic own goal when the community manager said he doesn't understand why players won't just spend a few minutes to create a PSN account. How can you be that uninformed. There are so, so many other (better) ways this could have been handled.

It turned out that all the people upset about PSN being mandatory being a problem for countries without PSN access were right, and you are really going to try and put Sony fucking over that many countries on the end users?

Even if it is technically not enforced, asking players to break the TOS to play their game is insane. That should not be the official stance of any company. Blocking from sale makes sense if they do proceed with this.

Now I wonder if they gonna limit Tsushima PC in all those countries due to Legends mode since that mode is already confirmed to require PSN for PC. Imagine all those countries missing out on the single player over this stupid setup Sony has. L of the year.

I mean yeah? Expect stricter requirements upfront and stuff like this to be the norm because a few overreact to the smallest of inconveniences. We should hold firms accountable and take them to task because they are not your 'friend' or some shit. But overreaction to stupid shit like this just boggles my mind. This most definitely screwed over many gamers that does or would have enjoyed the game by taking 10 mins to create a PSN account anywhere and putting the address as Buckingham Palace or something without an issue.

Helldivers 2 is cementing its status as the game of the year (lower case) as far as I'm concerned. What other game had this trajectory, from solid foundation but not too much hype, to a hyper-explosive launch that rewrote the rules of how games grow (inverse decay!), all on the back of a very unique formula we've not often seen the likes of, dominating gaming conversation for weeks/months, all leading to one of the most bizarre / biggest review bombings we've ever seen. What a unique and fascinating rollercoaster.

Yes, it was overblown whining in reaction to a minor inconvenience.

Now it's just fucking stupid for everyone. Now there's actual victims who can't play the game anymore instead of just, some hypothetical scarecrow on the other side of the world who can't spend five minutes to make a PSN account in another region. This is firmly on Sony's hands and I fucking hate how it'll be weaponized for more Gamer Rage from people who remain unaffected by this aside from having to face the prospect of making a PSN account at no personal cost.

How is it not blatantly obvious that Sony didn't intend people from those countries to be playing HD2 to begin with? They literally just blocked them all because they had made an oversight initially. Somehow trying to blame this on the end users is ridiculous.

Sony could have worked with ArrowHead to make a cool armor set you obtain by linking your PSN Account. No longer allowing these countries to purchase the game is just stupid.

Japan was already listed as a restricted country as of Feb 8th according to SteamDB, that must be for a different reason.
