Is there a breakdown of everything we getting tomorrow?
I don't know if there's a full list, but here's my shot at it:
  • Two new maps, Detachment and Argyle
  • Forge Beta
  • File Share available in menu, with Forge creations and "343 recommended" list
  • Ranked Updates that change how you gain and lose CSR
  • Sandbox updates, including buffs to the plasma carbine, commando and plasma pistol. A nerf to the battle rifle
  • Campaign Co-op (online), with new achievements and mission replay
  • Match XP beta, which changes the match to match progression through the battle pass
  • QoL updates, including a reduction of weekly challenges
  • 30-tier battle pass for the Winter Update
  • Playlist changes, including a shift to "core" and "rotational" playlists, and a new mode, Covert One Flag
There are other improvements and changes that are coming by the end of the year including:

  • Further sandbox updates, like a change to meleeing with the Sword
  • Further networking updates, like an improvement to reduce ghost melees
  • The Pit, an official re-imagining, entering matchmaking
  • A december event, The Winter Contigency, with an event pass and a new mode

Folks, tomorrow is going to be the game changer for the Halo community, and as always, I've pushed to go above and beyond expectations.
Expect big (IMO) news tomorrow from me, specifically.
And yes, I'm teasing, but you'll soon see why. Get hyped, because, well, I am hyped.
Consider me hyped. Excited to check out your map!

I'm also looking forward to the Commando changes. I loved that thing in the Flight back then.

Can you tease a little bit more

We're near the one year anniversary of MP launching and they're about to add their second map to ranked.

Sent a ban appeal to Halo support since it's an option there. It's a Live ban but Infinite is the only Xbox Live service game I have played in months.

I have a mini game I'd really like to make in Halo Infinite's Forge, but need two things:
• Can a trigger volume be triggered by a vehicle (I guess like the checkpoints in race mode?)
• Is it possible to make a vehicle indestructable?

Guessing this is what Sik was excited about?

Don't really understand why they put stuff outside of the game for the game...

Lots of interesting tidbidts in the IGN Stream. They finally addressed couch co-op head on. They said the glitched version was probably 80% complete, but they said since all of their resources have been diverted to getting MP up to speed, that they don't have the resources to get that last 20% complete and passing certificvation passes. They also acknowledged that it's really frustrating and dissapointing and they didn't make the choice lightly.

Stella asked about split screen co-op and Sean said the "glitched" playable versions were maybe like 80% done but the 20% was going to be a significant amount of effort and basically the priorities changed. It really sounds like the Xbox One versions were the problem bc they would have to support all platforms and to get it to run well and not crash and all that would not be worth the resources over focusing solely on online co-op and mp live service.

A content browser on Waypoint will be great for searching and sharing, just like it was on Bungie.net.

doesn't really matter since it's in game but waypoint to me has pretty much been useless (the app especially) and this kind of stuff is used by such a small percentage of the players. hope it's a banger for those who use it.

People are banging these out on Twitter in a week, what?

As in an official map like the ones we're getting tomorrow?

That's pathetic.
While that is longer than I'd expect, I don't think it's that unrealistic for making a from-scratch map without prior designs to go off of. Remakes are going to be faster to make like what Uneeq puts out, but even those are like a month's work of work (from standard 8 hour days) in just building and doesn't include proper arting and performance testing or whatever else is involved in the process from start to finish. Still, I would think a remake should take 2.5-3.5 months maybe and not 5-6. But that time depends on if you want to be 1:1 or adjust for Infinite sandbox/physics which may take a bit more time to tweak.

people are banging out remakes of old maps, I think they were referring to new maps mostly like argyle and detachment. 🤷‍♂️

Yikes, I wouldn't advertise that argyle is the result of 6mo of work.

I can only assume that these maps weren't anyone's primary task. So it was 6mo of being a secondary objective for someone.

Argyle is an HCS map tho so surely playtesting and iteration takes up a lot of time for a competitive rotation arena map..

....XP in Forge and Customs?!..........?!

It can be annoying to tap tap click through stuff + search with controller. On PC much easier to just use m+kb to navigate in-game menus imo. But on console you don't get that (unless you're a weirdo who plays halo on xbox with m+kb) so nice to have an option to like have a tablet or laptop or w/e on the side to browse and flick through that stuff. I think it's good.

lines up with the 2 new maps a year.

They have one guy just sitting in a dark dungeon somewhere making one forge map at a time. Like that one guy at Bethesda who built every single cave and dungeon in Oblivion.

Respect to Sean for the transparency. This much better than "we have made the difficult decision not to ship campaign couch co-op" line they wheeled Joe out to deliver lol

According to UneeQ, at least for him remakes take more time and are more difficult to make than new maps.

Pretty sure the forge maps shown so far were FORGED mostly by 1 person each. Maybe another person working to do some concept art. Sounds like their flow was like... sketch -> blockout -> testing -> iteration -> testing -> concept art -> art+fx

Could be wrong though.

I can see testing and tweaking taking significant time, but months worth of 8hrs days of playtestng? Surprising if true.
spend a day tweaking -> next day playtest -> review data and plan tweaks next day -> next day playtest, rinse and repeat. It can eat up a lot of time. I know in League a champion rework/modernization update takes about the same time as a from-scratch creation (9+ months).

Tell that to UneeQ lol

To be fair it took him about 100 hours to get High Ground to a like ... pre-beta playable state with art, etc. but not much testing, iteration, or optimization, etc.

100 hours / 8 hour days = ~3 standard work weeks.

Where the double-up ultra wombo comes in is that after that was done, it only took about 2 hours to make the 6 other variants of it (snow, CE-style, svannah, and day/night of each).

It's like quintuple dipping.
