Oops, this is also available for Netflix UK and Netflix Canada. If a mod comes across this, could I get a title edit?

Fuck yeah. Now bring Thunderbolt. The OG trilogy would be cool too but highly unlikely.

Disagree with the claims Unicorn is the best. It's... decent, but as has been said, this is mostly a creature made for UC fans. It only occasionally brushes with brilliance. Ending is pretty neat though!

Best Gundam imo is Thunderbolt. At least season 1. It's one of those shows that transcends the genre writing into something really special.

I haven't seen an ounce of Gundam since Wing, but I'll watch this anyways. I'm sure I'll be lost but whatever.

I just want the OG tv series on Netflix. It's the GOAT, and ready available in Japan and Italy I think, at least last time I checked.

I've been meaning to watch Thunderbolt. My biggest issue with it is that from what I've seen, the Gundams are way too advanced for the One Year War. Gundam 0080 is still my favorite.

The tech is a little jarring, but I was able to look past it pretty quickly. It's too good a show to get caught on those hangups.

To be fair, though things like the RX-78-2 are clunky and not super advanced, there are a lot of crazy and experimental things like the Zeong and Big Zam that are pretty advanced despite their simplistic renderings in their original forms. Which I think is what it all comes down to: fidelity.

0083 looks a lot more advanced than a lot of Zeta tech, but isn't really. Thunderbolt's tech I feel is actually similar to 08th MS Team's, it's just a matter of how mobile and choreographed the fights are. Like Apsalus is kind of more ridiculous than anything in the two Thunderbolt movies.

I have only seen Gundam wing and I liked it. Which ones do you recommend?
I will always reccomend the English dub of the original 1979 TV series, Mobile Suit Gundam.

It's like Star Wars + Star Trek + 2001: A Space Oddysey + Game of Thrones + GI Joe, if I had to try to sell it to someone based off of comparing it to other things.

It's a compelling war drama with giant robots, and while it isn't overtly gorey or senselessly violent, it does not hold back.
Plus it sets the stage and establishes it's own mecha tropes that still permeate the genre today.

Don't listen to this guy, watch Gundam 00 specifically season 2 and then follow it up with Gundam Seed. Trust me, it's well worth the watch as a Wing fan.

Been binging the franchise in release order and fell off after Stardust Memory (the characters and the later episodes in general sucked. SO. BAD. Why are you so stupid, Kou? Why are you such a piece of shit, Nina?). Watched 2 eps of Victory before giving up.

Is okay to jump into this before going back to the rest?

How did Seed not instantly give it away?
Because Seed Destiny is the more obvious troll choice.

Because Kou doesn't eat his carrots, carrots are brain food. Victory Gundam is not for everybody, but I enjoy it.

Figured I'd ask here.. I've never experienced anything Gundum before, only familiar with stuff I've absorbed through proxy. Would Gundum: The Origin manga be a good intro?

Ah Unicorn..

Great soundtrack
Great animation

Meh story
Bad and possibly mentally challenged protagonist

Absurd space magic

All in all, I'd say it's worth a watch

You should absolutely watch it. Even if the Gundams seem too advanced the show itself is fantastic.

The animation and soundtrack is just amazing, definitely going to rewatch some bits. Easily Sawano's best OST.

Sounds like Stardust Memory. Please be good (IMO), Unicorn. :(
Because Kou doesn't eat his carrots, carrots are brain food. Victory Gundam is not for everybody, but I enjoy it.
I definitely plan to watch the entire shebang eventually, and I loved 0079 through to CCA. I just didn't find F91 and SM enjoyable to watch, Victory didn't give the best first impression and I wanted respite from the badness of the former two, dammit!

Started watching Gatchaman (concurrently with BOTP) in its place; I'm betting to feel the same way towards it once I'm watching II and Fighter. Or Crowds maybe.

Warning you now Victory gets dark.

I watched this, with basic knowledge of UC timeline (Amuro vs Char rivalry up to Char's Counterattack). Some details might be confusing, but subsequent rewatch (and some googling made me understand it.

Nonetheless, the mecha porn is awesome.

I will echo what Gundam (the OP) said above, start with the original series. Mobile Suit Gundam 0079. It's a fantastic journey, and while not the most perfect pacing, is a super fun ride from beginning to end. It's also super old, so there's some pretty funny animation foibles throughout.
