GTA Online to have "exclusive content" on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC in 2021

I've thought about that as well. Not many games have staying power like this.
It was announced for PS5 'with enhancements', which most likely means graphics stuff. All of the extra content R* has made for GTAV is for Online.
You know Rockstar is gonna charge $60 again just like they initially did with the current gen version. The price may drop quick after time though.

GTA Online is going to be free only for the first three months on PS5, after that it's going to be paid.
I hope the upgrades include load times on SSD. Every time I go to try GTAO the load times are unbearable and I give up.
Hopefully it's content that is inspired by new tech they are now able to accomplish thus making it exclusive.
If the load times are fixed, I'm jumping back to GTAO. Loved my time with it but the load times are painful.

2021? GTAV was a PS360 release. Considering R* makes bank from their online efforts, I could see GTAVI getting into Half-Life 3 territory.
I swear to god if they don't get rid of the initial intro loading screen on PS5, I will just believe they did it for the sake of keeping it. lol. We have all these crazy new powerful SSDs, imagine it not zipping past that minute long loading screen from a PS3/360 game. Haha.
That's the rumor, but also seems like it would be TOO big and costly. Think about all the new radio stations and music they would have to license.
It would be pretty enticing to bring more players over to next-gen though.
Hope they add back in the original car damage like the one in story mode. If I remember right they patched it out in one of the first updates way back then

Yeah, I think this is the biggest take away.
I said it before, and I know this isn't the first company, but I can see some 3rd parties jumping into next gen only sooner than before.
They wanna focus on the new shiny too.

I wish there was a new Area to explore at least. The online stuff can be very boring and i don't have confidence the new stuff would be worth it
They started going current gen only with the release of the Freemode Events update released back in September of 2015.
I'm guessing that the big heist update coming later this year might be the last update for current gen.
That's because literally everything else about GTA Online repels me. But yes, the heists look awesome.
I'm with you on this one. Four friends on headsets made GTAO heists my favorite co-op experience of the generation.
They've added a good number of new, interesting story missions to GTAO, new dialog, cut-scenes, etc. It's not the same as a entire single-player campaign but it's pretty substantial.
Heists are fun, but I enjoy just logging in and messing around with everyone else in the current sandbox.
Anyone else thinking that the reason GTA Online is finally becoming its own product is because it's in preparation for GTA6? Calling it now, GTA6 itself wont have any multiplayer at all but instead they'll add that game's map, cars etc. to GTA Online.
A very reputable member over at GTAforums who had access to leaked files directly from Rockstar said Liberty City was definitely in development for GTA Online as far back as 2013. DJ Whoo Kid who has a close relationship with Rockstar also confirmed he recorded lines for this project way back in 2014. It was presumably canned shortly after the Benzies fiasco which resulted in massive turnover at Rockstar North. If I had to take a guess, that's why a shit ton of LC cars and clothing randomly appeared in the Lowriders update a year later. GTA Online has a long history of recycling assets from all kinds of scrapped DLCs they had planned.
I don't know if they've decided to revive the LC expansion but it's not too far fetched. It would be a crazy enticing selling point for next-gen.
Don't forget, for all those interested, if you have ps plus now, R* is giving away $1mil for every month you play online until release on ps5. And if you link twitch prime, you get $200k free for every week you play. This includes logging in to a private invite only session, selling a car, and quitting pretty much.
