Visually I think it's about on par or maybe slightly better looking than maybe MGSV
lmao
Visually I think it's about on par or maybe slightly better looking than maybe MGSV
If The Order was a 8 or 9 out of 10 game and had a standard videogame aspect ratio people would be mentioning it all the time.
Detroit Become Human shits on open world games in damn near every graphical aspect visually. Open world games still look amazing but lets not kid ourselves that linear games still won't obviously hold the visual edge due to not being anywhere near as demanding
I'm going to walk this statement back. I don't think MGSV and RDR2 are in the same league after revisiting MGSV but I don't think RDR2 ranks among the top of the upper crust of graphics but it is a great looking game.
Yes and no. They have come closer thanks to the larger RAM pool and graphics cards that are much better at rendering open worlds than previous gen cards, but all the games you mentioned have also gone bigger.
Uncharted 4 is a linear game but the levels are massive. And i don't just mean the Madagascar level. GoW has a giant hub world which can basically be called an open world.
Even killzone shadow fall had large open areas compared to previous titles.
The order and Detroit are the only two truly linear titles and they look much better than horizon and rdr.
We learn that each level of Killzone: Shadow Fall is 10 to 100 times larger than a Killzone 3 level, while the largest map is 8 km (almost five miles) long.
It's okay fam, the best looking game of the generation is on Xbox. No need to lose any sleep. At no point does Arthur's model come anywhere NEAR the fidelity of Kratos. Certain supporting characters in GoW look better than Arthur.
lmao do you even know what inverse kinematics is? of course RDR2 has inverse kinematics.
I'm just talking about character modelsIt's okay fam, the best looking game of the generation is on Xbox. No need to lose any sleep.
RDR2 has a big fucking open-world, sure, but its missions are about as linear as they get. R* has a "vision" for how each mission is going to go down, and dammit, you're doing it their way or no way at all. Complexity my ass.Even less reason to play linear games.
I can't even fathom choosing linearity over complexity.
It's okay fam, the best looking game of the generation is on Xbox. No need to lose any sleep.
Another level?
This post is complete madness. You all have got to stop it. RDR2 is not some visual tour de force aesthetically speaking. There are many games that look better than it but may not be as expansive or as complex in terms of tech but I wouldn't say that it's an eye catching game. Visually I think it's about on par or maybe slightly better looking than maybe MGSV which is great considering everything under the hood but it shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as RE2, DMC5, Horizon, GoW, GoT, Spiderman, U4/TLL, TLoU2, Detroit or Control. That's just some nonsense personally speaking.
This reminds me of people saying that GTA5 was one of the best looking games last gen and it's like, was it really? Did GTA5 really stand out amongst the Killzones, Uncharteds, GoWs, Resistance 3, Gears, Halo, TLoU when you omitted how big GTA5 was and judged it purely on how it looked? I'd argue no but maybe my opinion is in the minority.
Wtf am I reading lmao. Can't think of a single AAA open world released this gen where what you posted isn't a standard part of the animation. Your post reminds me of people posting this gif:I didn't see movemenst as complex as those in RDR2 and like I explained above many reactions are non human like.
Last of us 2 is a bad example as it is not out yet. So who knows what exactly that was.
Isn't God of War technically an open world game?Been playing God of War again after a recent amount of hours in RDR2 and sorry op, no, open world games aren't getting closer. In the end, an open world game has to spread a lot of resources around compared to a linear game. But both look a ton better this gen to general improvements in rendering.
It's more of a hub world, I'd say.
Incredible shots. This one in particular is breathtaking
He's 100% right though. Arthur's model and his different outfits can be apart fromt the head pretty low polygon and low res textured. When in the bathtub his body model shows visible low polygon angles. There's really no competition to Kratos...
...or Geralt, Aloy, Noctis or Spider-Man for that matter, just to name other highly polished character models of larger open world games.
Hmm. I think RDR2 looks so much better than God of War. He'll I don't think God of War looks as good as UC4 even
It's honestly unbelievable to see people downplay how RDR2 looks. It must be rooted in something entirely illogical.
Hub world/open settings as a whole, open world in the lake of the nine.
Tyaren What are the sources of of those muscle flexing gifs in GOW? I thought I saw every material of this game. It seems I missed this. :p
SMS has been using muscle felxing since GOW3 but this is just beyond anything else.
GTAV still looks amazing on my PC in 4k no doubt about it. RDR2 looks fantastic, but it still stands the character models are better in other games. That was the only argument I was responding to.Another level?
This post is complete madness.
RDR2 is in every aspect that matters a technical and aesthetic achievement in gaming. Everywhere you look just looks incredible, no matter where you point the camera at in the environment, this is an open world game where just every part of it looks hand crafted for maximum beauty.
And GTAV looked completely ridiculous for being a PS360 game.
It's honestly unbelievable to see people downplay how RDR2 looks. It must be rooted in something entirely illogical.
This game has, by far, the best use of lighting I have ever seen in a video game. It's so varied and dynamic. R* even accounts for the increase in pollution in a big city like Saint Denis.

There's lots of other great stuff, enjoy! :)
Of course that I know what Inverse Kinematic do and I even explained it. Animation blending and inverse kinematics allow Aloy's feet and body to shift naturally based on the slope of the terrain. Look at how her feet intersect with the terrain
Or specific rotations like turning around on horseback like this : https://kotaku.com/im-just-saying-look-at-how-horizons-protagonist-turns-1792588479
It's probably you who doesn't know the exact use of such methods.
I didn't see movemenst as complex as those in RDR2 and like I explained above many reactions are non human like.
