If that happens,10 years for a sequel, crazy shit, but all I care now is they delivery the best sequel,I don't care when.
And of course Rockstar is not stupid enough to releases the next GTA to a small user base, especially when GTA V sold over 100M.

It's really distressing seeing them try to port over the audience from Online to Six.

I liked GTA:O in the beginning but resented what a cash grab it became.

Seems about right (barring any delays). I'm always kind of shocked that people are shocked by the revelations of games being far off but I forget most people who play games don't follow the industry/know development.

Considering the obsession that R* has it would not surprise me, but in the meanwhile can we get versions of GTAV specially for the PS5 and XSX

Well we all know they're going to milk 5 straight onto next gen with the numbers it's pulling.

And yes, I will be buying it again.

If these long dev times mean less crunch and ultimately a better game, I'm all for it.

And I'm thankful it hasn't been announced with a "when it's ready" timeline only to sit for 5+ years.

Noticed something weird. In FY19, the fiscal year that RDR2 released, TTWO only spent $4m on marketing. But in the previous year, FY18, TTWO spent $49m on marketing.

If this is the case (and assuming I've not gotten the numbers ass-backwards), could GTAVI release in FY2025 instead? Looks like they ramp up marketing spend a year-ish earlier than the game's actual fiscal release period. The RDR2 delays could account for the disparity though.

Source is a 10-K filing from March 31, 2018.

Looks like the piece in your screenshot was a mistake, in the same document on page 76 it has the near $50mil marketing budget assigned to the 2019 financial year

People really thought GTA VI was "70% complete" when we know all of Rockstar's studios were working on RDR2? The GTA V leads were pretty much in charge of it.

Plot twist is this marketing budget will be for a new Bully game.

The downside of doing service games is that it basically drains out your entire audience to a point where you have to have a really impressive sequel to get people to move over. 10+ years waiting for a sequel to the most sold videogame ever is not normal.

add a year or two for delays

add three years for the next-next-gen version to provide a decent frame rate

2028 it is

Sounds about right.
Sounds like a well positioned release in next gen consoles life cycle too.

Predicting GTA's next entry from the marketing costs is hilarious

I really hope that they go to Liberty City

Next gen "New York" by Rockstar, ugh ...

It will look incredible

It's the date I've been expecting for a while. RDR2 took 5 years after GTAV, so figured GTAVI would take at least 5 after RDR2, if not more since the games keep getting bigger and more detailed.
