I'm playing as the Black Eagles and I'm trying to figure out who I should recruit. I've gotten Mercedes so far. Any other recommendations of good/useful units?
Felix is a fairly easy recruit as he respects Byleth's sword skills, and will give you a strong swordmaster/infantry pick if you've decided on something else for Petra (I reclassify her into Pegasus/Falcon knight).

you don't get to choose to protect her. It kicks off the church route.

Man, they really want give us all the chance to give up on Edelgard.

Is there a reliable list of which S supports are actually romantic in nature?
It seems most outlets state that Gilbert and Alois' S-Support is platonic in nature, no romance indicated, but I also read this is the case for Rhea and Sothis?
I just need to know if I can marry/romance Seteth as female Byleth (and after his paralogue, I have my doubts about that).

Also, tea time oogling is weird, creepy and clunky. Bring back stick poking.

By the way, I can't progress my supports with Leonie anymore now after Chapter 8, so you need to unlock her C support before the mission in that chapter for sure if you want to get any supports with her.

I thought all the opposite-sex S Support ended up romantic

Damn wtf I'm 5 chapters from the end, that's shocking. Looked like it was gonna go on a lot longer.

I think I'll probably go BE —> GD —> BL —> BE for the full circle ride.
I'm probably gonna do the church next as I don't trust myself not to overwrite my chapter 11 BE save by accident :D

Lysithea is an incredible mage and healer. Has two crests and great passive abilities. Can't go wrong with her. Hilda is locked I guess, but you wont find a better tank. Other people from Golden Deer are ok stat wise.

Can someone help me out? I'm kinda lost. If I want to make a character a certain class with certification exams do I have to wait until they reach it? Like I want to make Dimitri a Lord but hes only Level 6, is being a Noble still fine (I'm in mid June Chapter 3) or can I let him take a beginner class then once he reaches level 10 can I move him to a lord? So what are seals for in this game then?

So I'm at Black Eagle's chapter 11/12 thing and spoiled myself slightly on what my choice will entail.

I think I'll make a save and do the Church route first, then load up the Edelgard route instead of New Game +-ing it. Losing Edelgard and Hubert is going to sting but I'm not short of tanky frontline fighters like Raphael, Ferdinand, Leonie and Byleth. Black Mage-wise I'm sure Dorothea and Hanneman can fill in the gap. Frankly I've got enough powerhouses on the team that it's probably not going to be any more difficult due to their absence.

Can confirm the Seteth S-Rank is romantic. Rhea and Sothis are also unambiguously romantic

Yep there's not much point leaving him as a noble if you can assign him a beginner class, and yeah it works like you're saying so assign the beginner class now and assign the lord class when you're level 10.
The seals are used to take the certification exams to unlock the classes, beginner seal for beginner class and so on.

She only gets stronger as the game goes on. I don't even use her in battle sometimes because she devours all the XP. She can butcher an entire map of enemies singlehandedly in few turns without taking a point of damage.

That feeling will have to wait, as Edelgard's route is going to be my Three Houses "dessert", aka my recruit every possible character, final, personal canon, run.
Current first run will be BE Church. Since i knew what will happen on that route from the spoiler thread, i made arrangements to not focus on the two characters too much. ^^

Oh man I'm already having trouble with this game. I've just started, and I've chosen my house. But now the game has set me free to explore. The thing is, I don't give a damn about socialising and have minimal interest in the story. I just want to play the tactical battles. Now I'm wading through all this social crap, people talking about a mock battle. How do I just skip past all this and get to the battling?

I think you may have bought the wrong game pal. First half of the game is very socially oriented, I've spent more time doing things outside of battle than in it.

I'm at the start of chapter 4 and I haven't managed to recruit anyone yet, how many can you realistically get before the cut off?

I've been trying to get Petra because I want another myrmadon and I was thinking I need another mage as well

May be a dumb question but I've not played FE before, how different actually are the other routes?
Post timeskip, very different.

Hit L to end exploration. Just use up your professor actions by either training with the faculty, or socialising with anyone. You don't have to run around and talk to anyone if you dont want to. In future you can choose to just spend the day battling instead, or on a lecture to gain skill points. Even the classroom stuff you can automate too.

I only managed one, but some seem to grab almost everyone. You need both your skills to improve and your relationship with them to build, perhaps try focusing on the ones you really want?

That's alright, I'm far less interested in the social side of Fire Emblem than the story and battles too. You do however need to get the skills up to reclass them into stronger classes eventually, and to do that you'll need to teach them, and to do that they need to be motivated. You might find it easier, once a side quest about merchants appears, to make sure you do it. Then you can spend your battle money on gifts and bribe students to pay attention in class rather than hang out with them. I spent more of my free time fishing than talking to them as I like fishing games and figured my professor didn't want to spend his day off talking to kids :D

Sorry if this is a stupid question but is it possible to do battle (like training and side missions) after exploring? Or is it either/or?

I am happy to hear that gifting those 8+ owl feathers will pay off in the most awkward way possible once I
become Flayn's new mom.

I am in chapter 10, so I guess that's right before the time skip? I didn't manage to recruit a lot of people into my Blue Lions house, and most of them last month only. Got Lysithea and Ignatz, who I was gunning for, got Dorothea as a freebie on top. Two extra mages really helps me out, and archers are the best anyway.

Do I have to super push them to B support people asap if I don't want to be blocked from supports with them after the time skip?

There is. But you can still recruit some afterwards but I doubt you can get them all after a certain event.

It's either. Can't do both.

I might have missed this, but how do i increase my actions when choosing battles instead of exploring. I'm between chapter 5 and 6 and still can only do one battle. My actions while lecturing and exploring are influenced by my teacher rank, but what increases my battle options?

Can confirm the timer keeps counting up after you start New Game+, which is nice, I'd be annoyed if it went back to 0 suddenly.

It's also tied to teacher rank. I am rank B and can do 2 battles.

I believe I saw at max teacher rank you only get 3 battle points, so if you're on hard you're gonna need to make the most of the free battles you do.

Professor rank C+ for 2 battles, A for 3.

Hi can anyone confirm if the U.K. version allows you to switch full language to Japanese, the same as in Zelda? Not just the audio, all text, everything.

My system is set to Japanese but this didn't work for Dragon Quest Builders 2 unfortunately.

Just thought I'd drop in to say that the soundtrack in this game is an absolute disgrace and I mean that in the nicest way possible, it's awesome, absolutely awesome.

My system is set to Japanese, I bought the game through the Australian eShop and am playing in full Japanese. Works fine.
