I've been working at it all afternoon. I was able to make some progress by flying some units down to the south part of the map to deal with them and using Rinkah to draw people in since the ninjas can barely damage her. Takumi definitely comes in handy as well.
The best approach to many defense maps is to be aggressive though. This is why my favourite Fire Emblem maps are defence maps. Forces me to sit my ass on those chokepoints and not get greedy.
don't forget Sacred Seth
There is a Fire Emblem speedrun marathon going on over at https://www.twitch.tv/rpglimitbreak
Schedule is https://horaro.org/fespeedrunmarathon/2017
Doing Hector Hard Mode right now. Awakening and FE6 have already been run. Runs to come later include Sacred Stones, New Mystery of the Emblem, and the Ike Emblems. Not sure how much interest there is here in seeing these games speedrun but hey it's there today if you want to check it out.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "RNGed" but, at least the GBA ones, rely on manipulating the RNG to get specific results. IIRC, you can manipulate the RNG by moving the arrow that appears when you try to move an unit in the GBA games, so speedrunners abuse that to get crits and stuff when needed. Are these runs RNGed or anything? I like watching some speedruns because I can pick up little tips and tidbits to try, but I'm not out here trying to get perfect seeds and all that.
I get why they do it with series that rely on chance, but RNGed runs aren't really my thing.

I'm not sure how Awakening speedruns work. Prodigy probably knows.
Tellius+3DS speedruns can't rig the RNG (so strats are actually made with reliability in mind), dunno about FE11/12I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "RNGed" but, at least the GBA ones, rely on manipulating the RNG to get specific results. yeah but I seem to recall kirbymastah saying something about setting a seed in advance for FE11 idk
Anyone have any experience with those FE6 repro carts? Are they any good? I see them on Amazon for $12 or so and have decent reviews.
yeah, don't bother with the Fates kids tbhFinished the main story of Fire Emblem Warriors and it got me wanting to go back to Fire Emblem Fates. I never even finished Birthright. :/ Got overwhelmed getting all the kids and then trying to farm My Castle battles to get the best possible skills for them. I think I'm going to ignore that and just push through.
Loading up my save reminded me how almost none of my units have maxed any stats and are in the late teens of their promoted class. I love seeing that green highlight. :(
I guess none of them really end up better than their parents? I'll probably finish recruiting them all just for completion's sake.

in a move that is definitely completely and totally unrelated to the video that was just posted, I started playing FE6HM again and I think the wildly hilarious unit imbalance is actually a huge point in its favor. Except Bors, who is comically worthless, why are armors even in this game

FE6 is a good game and Shanna is cool.

The game certainly has some balance issues in some areas, but it manages to work out in interesting ways. The common complaint about axes being bad stands out, and that is an issue, but at the same time things like hand axes and javelins being less effective than other games limits a melee unit's ranged game, allowing swords and bows to have a better place than in many other games.
You're really close, Act 5 is just Duma's TempleI'm on Act 4 of Shadows of Valentia with 2 maps to go. How close am I to the end of the game? How long is Act 5? Starting to feel finished with it and wondering if I should stick it out.
7, 8, and 11 are on the NA WiiU eshop if you have one.I kinda want to replay the older FE since I'm tired of the 3DS ones, but I don't want to use my phone or laptop to use an emulator. I'm irritated that Nintendo didn't at least released FE8 for the general public. I guess I could always mod my 3DS...
I can't wait for a new FE experience.
Just started Shadows of Valentia. Any tips or hints? What should I class change the villagers to? Or should I wait? And what stats govern what for what class, that would be helpful to decide who to class change.
Thanks!
Ah, thanks for the information. I get it now. I'm not sure if there was any way for me to know about internal levels in-game though. Oh well, friendship with Frederick ended, time to find a new best friend......yeah, never Second Seal from a promoted class into an unpromoted class
experience formula (and others) can be found here: https://serenesforest.net/awakening/miscellaneous/calculations/
tl;dr every time you Second Seal you get half your level at the time added to your internal level
Following up on this, my partner got me one for the holidays and it works great. It came with a completed save file (that I deleted), so hard mode was unlocked from the start.Anyone have any experience with those FE6 repro carts? Are they any good? I'm finally picking Awakening back up after not playing it (hard mode) since launch. I've read so many conflicting opinions on leveling up base characters at 10 and promoted at 15, while many other people say you'll lose the extra stats you'd get from levels 10-20. It's kinda funny (and ridiculous) how many varying opinions are available on this mechanic that really shouldn't be hard to figure out.
