This is 10 times more effort than I thought Square would ever put into a FF VIII rerelease. Looking forward to finally playing through this whole game.

Just pre-ordered on PS4 and applied the theme instantly. Loving the sounds for clicking around plus the swap between Squall and Rinoa when you switch pages. Seriously cannot wait, favorite FF game by a long shot.

Seeing how they went the extra mile to add new models, I wonder why they stopped there and didn't also extend the resolution and put more work on other assets. Although I appreciate the effort kinda seems like a half-step?

I only played FF8 Demo when I was a kid and ever since then, I always wanted to play it and the battle theme got stuck in my head forever. The time has come.

Most likely yes however I'm really hoping they touched up parts of it. Things like Ultimecia's speech not being translated properly(and the whole K thing) is a major problem since in the JP version it explains Time Compressions effects more clearly.

Looks amazing! Being a bit nitpicky tho... I liked how Squall looked more mature in the older game. I feel that rougher look goes better with his personality.

Yeah all the characters looked a little older and more serious in the original which I prefer. Now they're prettier and younger, which at least is probably closer to what Nomura imagined anyway. Plus the cast are all teens, even if I liked to read them as more like 20s.

Textures / Backgrounds are looking real rough and blurry in the "remastered" version, considering they're just stretched.

The new models are nice though.

Hm. I mean clearly the old ones looks like paper dolls, but it leaves something to the imagination. The new ones look like anime barbies or kingdom hearts characters.

The Laguna shot tells all, even the random hostess looks good. I was worried they potentially would have just left the major upgrades to essential characters.

Stunning efforts for the most beloved game in the series. No awful Mariah Carey vaseline filter a la Grandia 1 HD or fetal alcohol syndrome faces a la Wander in that unfortunate Shadow of the Colossus remake.

Only the best for Legend VIII.

Excuse me he looks less like Gackt now and closer to his CG/FMV model so let's just agree it's an improvement.

They did well witht he models. Quite the improvement while not looking out of place.
There will still need to be a bg upscale mod, though.

Not really grasping why this is a "remaster" while FFIX was a "port" even though both got retextured, higher-poly character models.
