Does the game take up the whole screen in Handheld mode?
That's my deciding factor. I hate those two side bars and a picture being stretched.
FF7 on PS1 (or via emulation and/or PS1 Classics on Vita/PS3) looks excellent. This port looks awful with its uprezzed models on top of poorly scaled low-res backdrops, cheesy-looking modernized font that approximates the original, etc.Played it on PS4 to completion (Platinum trophy) and it wasn't buggy at all, minus the apparent music glitch which I somehow didn't even notice (I was remote playing it on Vita without the sound on pretty often).
I have extremely strong nostalgia for the blocky visuals of FF7 so I also don't think it's hideous but to each their own.
If you want to play something that resembles 13 more, go with 7 first. If you want to go in the completely opposite direction, then 9.Only 3D FF I ever played was FF13. Should I get this or FFIX first on Switch?
Since the Switch version is a port of the PC version, I assume that the Character Booster features works the same way? Is it possible to just increase my Gil without affecting the characters' HP and MP?
Holy shit those Usenet posts are amazing. I cannot wait until 20 years from now people are digging up Resetera/IGN/Gamefaqs threads and having a laugh.
Yikes. You know what this means. We will never get those games we've wanted
for SNES. If we are unlucky, we won't get FF7 for N64.
I say, LET'S MAILBOMB SQUARE!
I don't believe the console versions have the same character booster that Steam had. That was an out-of-game thing that would actually edit your save file. On consoles, you just have the three cheats (no encounters, refill all health and limit breaks , and 3x game speed)
BOTW has been the only game in a while to question my #1 spot which belongs to FF7. In the end I ended up ranking it #2. FF7 is so important to me. It was the first RPG I played and the cast of characters is my favorite in any game.Second favorite for me — after the game your avatar is from. lol
Which scene? The music bug from the PS4 version was more than the world map music starting over after every battle. There is a key scene late in the game (one might call it the most important scene of the whole game) in which the wrong music plays, very much diminishing the scene's impact.

reminds me of XIII xbox revealedThis forum has archives up to 1994... That's crazy. I love reading about the Internets initial reactions to FF7 being a PS1 exclusive, some people were very rumbled.
Attack while its tail is upHere's to hoping this game lives up to the hype and legacy
Any spoiler free pro tips for when I start tomorrow?
Best thing you can do while you progress throughout the game is to make sure you can find or purchase 2 or 3x growth accessories and weapons. The actual weapon stats don't mean much to be frank. The growth for your materia is much more important. Also, you can rack up millions of gil by selling mastered all materia but you won't be doing that for a while. Here's to hoping this game lives up to the hype and legacy

Field music restarts after every battle. In practice, you'll only listing to the first 12 seconds over and over again. Unsuferable after a short while and unaceptable from Square.Shit, what's the music bug? I was really interested in playing FFIX on Switch. Is it game breaking?
My heart continues to weep.Chance of a physical release?
There haven't been any hints of one on any platform.

I was 10 also. My schoolmate brought it over and I had no idea what it was. We played it and I thought it was pretty cool, but I didn't really get into it for a couple months. He left it at my house and never asked for it back. So many memories around that game. One of my favorites was when my dad took the memory card out of the slot because I was playing too much. The game was still going so I played for a good few days without shutting the playstation off. The crazy part of that experience was discovering the sunken plane for the first time and having no idea what I was getting myself into. I remember almost dying and losing hours and hours of progress.I totally get that! It's the same for me. I was 10 and I was not ready for how much it would change my life.
