It wouldn't take much to beat ea's awful gameplay but calling it egame for girl or boy is a rough start.

At least it can't be as bad as the film they made, United Passions, currently sitting at a Metacritic of 1.

My god, I hadn't even heard of this movie. The box office numbers made me happy though:
In North America, the film was an instant box office bomb. It opened on Friday, 5 June 2015, and grossed a mere $319 on its opening day from 10 theaters in New York..., followed by an even worse $288 on Saturday.

Someone can correct me, but I feel like FIFA was way behind Winning Eleven/Pro Evo until they started to copy many of its best features.

It still won on sales, but the actual gameplay was kind of shit in comparison until they pulled the typical EA move of copying and spending their competition out of the market.

That's the typical PES fanboy rhetoric. More like Konami fumbled in the PS3/360 generation while EA did innovate a lot at that time (but stagnated again in the PS4 generation). Even though Konami tried to come back (and imo gamplay wise they kinda did) in the PS4 generation it's already far behind and that's how we came to today.

A FIFA game without the team and player licences will sure be interesting.

I like that this is not even the most stupid thing Infantino has said this week. Dude has a very special talent for giving the most insane declarations imaginable. It's impressive really.

There was a time, many many years ago that this was indeed the case, the PS2 era. I still have PES3 with Colina on the cover.

But PS3 era onwards, Konami kept dropping the ball. At one point they tried something radical and even got the FOX Engine (yes that one). It did not help, and imo made things worse.

They still have potential but the game just isn't as fun. During PS3 / PS4 and now PS5, FIFA is much more superior. Even in a bad year FIFA is still better.

FIFA's gameplay is still terrible imo, it never felt like a real football game.
PES 2013-2020 had way better offline gameplay than FIFA 13-23
The only good thing about FIFA is FUT (and the presentation)

I hope the new football game Infantino is talking about will be a serious AAA with good football gameplay.
But let's be real it's 100% another "E-sport gameplay" casino game that won't threaten EA

They will set the budget at $100million. But once all the "producers" are done embezzling the money, there will be like $10miilion left for actual development. I look forward them FIFA acting confused as why their game looks and runs like shit.

Going to let loose my negativity and say: Can't wait to see your evil, corrupt organization fail in this venture.

They'll ride the wave of what EA established for a few years, so it will take time. I also don't foresee them actually hiring a proper studio like 2K to make the new games. I'm more interested in how this will affect EA?

This will go about as well as when MLB thought they could make a baseball game to compete against The Show.

It would be hilarious if Konami was doing it but then that can only happen if FIFA are cheap spiteful bastards. Who can afford that IP as well as the FIFPro for players, nobody I imagine.

The reaction from people who don't give a fuck about games outside of FIFA and don't keep up, when they see PES tier team names because EA has locked down most (all) big league rights is going to be hilarious.

I mean Konami is kind of dead as a gaming company and FIFA did make some really good games as well.

But as I remember it in the PS2 era the physics and movement were just lightyears ahead of EA. EA put too much emphasis on the weight of the player and the ball physics were shit, it almost felt like it was predetermined where it would go. While in PES it felt like anything could happen.

Whether you call it copying or adapting FIFA IMO definitely pulled from a lot of the best aspects of PES. They made it a little less arcadey and they always won on licenses and presentation. It definitely led to a better FIFA game, so for FIFA fans they won't complain. But EA is not a company I associate with innovation. For me it feels like they copied a lot of the best stuff from PES.

FIFA's gameplay is still terrible imo, it never felt like a real football game.

I liked FIFA a lot on the PS4 and PS5. It can be a little stiff for my tastes (I still look bad with nostalgia on the PS2 PES games) but its still a lot of fun to play a multiplayer match with my son or a friend.

I never liked any of these games on single player. Its always boring for me to play the CPU.

EA still has all the licenses (player, leagues, clubs, ...) and now they got more freedom, because FIFA doesn't get to tell them what is acceptable and what's not. The next game won't have FIFA or world cup branding. Those are the only downsides, if you want to even call them downsides.

"Our players tell us they want more modes of play, different things beyond 11v11 and different types of gameplay. I would tell you, it's been a fight to get FIFA to acknowledge the types of things that we want to create, because they say our licence only covers certain categories.
"Our players tell us they want more cultural and commercial brands relevant to them in their markets, more deeply embedded in the game... brands like Nike. But because FIFA has a relationship with Adidas, we are not able to do that.

EA boss claims FIFA is just "four letters on the front of the box"

They're the world class institution in making something big in little time thanks to underpaid workers. They could make a videogame.

Should be fun to see if the name alone will help carry sales.

Yeah, but who's going to make it, Mister Fifa president. It's taken EA literally decades to get to the point where the game is now. You can't just take any developer, give them a big bag of money and say "make something as good as that".

Also, which dev has the required experience with making soccer titles who isn't already working on soccer titles? This game will be a total cash grab when it comes out. And that's the other thing. A game like that will take years to make. The only reason EA has been able to crank them out yearly is because of the previous year's game which they can build on. Fifa will be building on nothing. That's a 3-4 year dev cycle to make anything decent. In that time EA will just release an unlicensed version and people will buy that because it's the only thing out.

All they have to do is sign a revenue sharing deal with konami and put the fifa name on their game.

EA has a lot of licenses and non of those were ever part of the FIFA license. PES can't compete on that front.
Yeah you're right, I thought they were a package deal, but indeed something like FIFPRO is more important than having FIFA in your name. I cannot really imagine that an official FIFA game won't have the major tournaments and players though.

Can then make the fifa good... the ea sports games have been trash for years now.

I doubt any good will come from this. Sports games in general have been ruined by micro transactions.

Getting UFT Vibes. All talk, No Substance. The current FIFA games, love them or hate them, is based on 30 years of "Experience" and Licening. No one is going to come close to it for some time.

I wonder if some players who are not following news on the internet, but just buy and play FIFA every year, and there are many of them, will buy the next FIFA game by inertia.

That would be fucking shit
