13/14 silos destroyed in John's area but I've definitely blown all 14 up. I checked all their locations twice and I haven't missed one.

I really like the game for the most part but the bugs are annoying. I've had to reload the last checkpoint several times due to NPC dialogue or actions just not triggering.

I beat it with the same amount. I didn't see any more, but am not positive that I searched every area or did actually blow up 14. It's probably there...somewhere.

Other Messages under UI settings, but unfortunately turning it off also removes a bunch of other HUD elements. I don't understand why it's not just an adaptive tutorial that stops giving hints after you've already seen them.

I doubt we'll see things like weapon degradation and malaria returning to the series, but I've started playing without any HUD and now all I really want is a physical FC2-style map so I don't have to keep pausing the game. That alone would make this game perfect for me.

Thanks. I will disable that shit.

Yeah the ingame map would help so much. Who cares about their fancy 3D nonsense (apart from Kotaku) when all it does is break immersion and pacing? Nobody.

Give me ingame map, dynamic weather, FC2-like health system, ease up on the enemy spawns, add protagonist with agency and voice, and you got perfect FarCry game. Maybe next time.

Almost done with the first region (John) and while I'm not having a bad time necessarily, I can't help but feel Normal's balance of things like how much damage you take, how easily enemies can spot you, how often you get into large encounters on the road, and how much it takes to down like a helicopter or an armored dude is just way off.

the plane controls suck (KB+M)...helicopter controls are so much better...I just completed one of those Clutch Nixon stunt missions which involved completing a timed course (in a plane this time) and it was annoying as hell...took me over 10 tries to complete it only because the controls suck...the mission was called Spray and Pray

I haven't touched the Arcade mode but is it possible to, say, make a co-op (driver and gunner) combat racing track with AI (not other drivers) as a PvP mode?

A lot of what I hear about Far Cry 5 sounds inspired by Ghost Recon Wildlands. Different regions with bosses, perform tasks/missions to get the bosses to show up, find the tasks by talking/interrogating people...

So, how similar is Far Cry 5 to its Ubisoft cousin Ghost Recon Wildlands really? Or is it just similar on a superficial level?

That's exactly what I was thinking before I played. But Far Cry 5 feels nothing like Wildlands. Two completely different games.

In what way? I've played the entire game on Hard, and I've found the balance to be pretty good. The game punishes my mistakes. Never felt cheap either.

Once you learn the game you can disable the messages no prob.

Game isn't crazy deep with mechanics.

Also disabled enemy tags since that wall hack stuff is just cheap and takes the fun out of the game. I love using the audio and actually looking for the enemies.

Love the setting and almost like the story so far. I hope we get some details on how the game was developed at some point. Curious if ubi thought this method of story presentation was a good idea or if they ran out of time to integrate things better.

Done the first area and headed down to the SW area from the island and done 30 mins or so around there. Game is gorgeous on the X.

I like how they've changed the mission structure so far. Have started looking at the perk stuff and no sure if I like how they've changed the upgrade system yet.

I can't get a single damn sabotage kill. Who decided that a sabotage based explosion shouldn't count on the enemies on the back turret?

I'm doing the story mission "the revelator". it tells me to destroy the revelator, so i get into a plane and blow it up. now the quest had no markers once I'm on the ground AND I forget which road it was on. :(

Is the day/night cycle determined by story progression? In the first area it seemed to turn from day to night a few times, but for the past 3 hours playing it's been night.

I think they both suffer from similar flaws such as a a lack of personality, a poor sense of progression, and repetitive gameplay

The mission design in FC5 definitely seems better though

I'm done with John's territory now (first territory for me). I'm having a blast with this game, it is really fun. I love how brains-off it is - just pure, ridiculous carnage. It's a refreshingly gamey open world game :)

When they give players a voice we got insufferable cali children. Unless they go blood dragon with the character it will be trash.

Do I need to keep the maps after I looked at them? If I sell them, will I lose what I'm able to see?
I tested this out with a fishing and hunting map. After I sold the maps I could still see the location of those spots. I didn't explicitly test the other kind of map but I didn't seem to lose any locations from it. It looks like when you pick up a map, your character automatically reads it.

but that's the path you took, you chose not to help them right away so they took care of themselves. This happens a lot in Bethesda games where one quest can lock out others, maybe Ubi was going for that style? Not sure hmmm they should hint at it via dialogue still...

Actually, people complain that Bethesda doesn't do that (it's a gripe of mine as I want more tight RPG from them). But difference is type of games to me and how they do it.

Bethesda games are RPG games and you expect that one choice you make might lock out another (I shouldn't be able to be friends with enemy factions but I can in their games). And you do actively make the choices that could lock you out. Plus since they are RPGs people want choices to matter. With Far Cry you miss a mission cause you got distracted by other stuff (That still is helping the same side). You're not really making a choice, you are just playing the game (there are no choices, you are helping the innocents. You don't get to choose to help the Cult or even take over for yourself). I don't want to have to worry about missing out a story mission cause I took too long as i was helping them do other stuff instead.

And honestly Bethesda doesn't do that either at all... you can wait forever on a mission and you can still do it. And while people make fun of that, they don't really complain about that (it's just funny to make fun of but people understand it's a game and they really wouldn't want to be locked out of something just cause they took the time to do something else. Ok, maybe some would but they are wanting much more serious RPG). They complain more that if you help one side the other side doesn't punish you or that your choices don't matter. Just because I went and did other missions for the same people (you don't take sides on Far Cry, you are on one side. There is no choosing to decide to help the cult instead) shouldn't lock me out of a mission. And as much as I want good RPG from Bethesda, that is one thing I like, I can put quests aside and take them at my leisure. If I get locked out of a quest, I actively did something to lock me out (did another quest at my choosing that locks me out that specifically does something that messes with that first quest). I expect this even of RPG games (That I can set a quest aside and as long as I don't do something that pisses off quest giver or kills him or *actively* does something that messes with the quest I can come back to it later).

Has anyone else encountered a silly bug where if you have Cheeseburger and someone else (Such as Hurk) as your 2 squad mates, and when you die and get revived, Hurt will revive you and then Cheeseburger comes charging to revive as well and kills you.

Happens every time. First time it was funny, but now not so much. It makes me not want to use Cheeseburger.

The UI needs a bit work, took me a few days to finally get it exactly the way I want it.

They really need to figure out how to seperate looting and picking up weapons better. Why not use a differernt button for looting, so many things in this game requires you to hold the square button it's almost garanteed that you'll accidentally do the wrong thing multiple times in your playthrough.

Otherwise the game is great, I am loving every minute of it. Definitely the best Far Cry since 3, hell it's probably as good as 3.
I recommend playing on hard with no aim-assit, driving assit or any form of assit, gps off, vehicle hints off and all (skill/challenge etc.) notifications off. All that information are avalible to you in the pause screen, you don't need that shit bothering you while you are playing.

Trust me, once you "de-Ubisoft" the HUD the game become crazy immersive and absorbing.

I would even go as far as to say that if all reviewers played Far Cry 5 in this set up the game will recieve much better scores period.

Well, looks like I have a bug where the game gets permanently stuck at night. If I get a quest that sets it to daytime, when the quest is over time starts passing and when it gets to night it stays there.

Ugh.

Escaping the silo is fucking bullshit. I hate when games throw hordes of enemies in a small area at you with a bunch of explosions and shit going on to impair the frame rate.

Have you played Origins?

I really love Montana too. Wish there was some snow though. And horses. Why can't I ride horses in this?? It is the perfect setting.

Yep, I have Origins and think it's a beautiful looking world but all too similar. Montana in FC5 is much smaller in scale but more varied, IMO.

I'm sure they'll release horses as an asset in Arcade mode if not already in. Would have been cool to have in the campaign for sure.

I just want the Origins horse patched in so I can feel like I'm playing Red Dead. That would be incredible.

so... once you get a helicopter with guns and rockets, the whole clearing of bases = hover, shoot out alarms with rockets and then shoot them with the bullets and very quickly, you'll capture it. lol. You can clear two bases easily with 1 helicopter - you can always quick travel to get another one.

While true, I think my favorite overpowered base capture was my buddy liberating an outpost with a single cluster missile with the guided missile launcher. "Undetected" and everything lol.

Sounds terrible but I always kill the arcade guy on sight, he is just too fucking annoying. I swear to god he is pretty much just a talking billboard that's shaped into an NPC.

I know Far Cry arcade is free (and awesome) but damn can you stop for a second? Maybe if you just put the arcade machine there more people would be willing to give it a try.

Really having fun with the game. Just finished my first region (John). Few complaints like the frequency of the patrols on the road and some bugs. Mainly weird spawns, but having a great time.

Just wanted to say how fucking well this game runs!

1080/Ryzen 1600 and I get a completely solid, locked 60fps at 1440 and everything on ultra, no matter what craziness goes on screen. I averaged 74fps in the benchmark test, but thought it would be better to lock it anyway.Super happy with this version.
