Can't wait. I'm sure just paying that huge cast costs a lot more but the overall visuals and cgi especially has dramatically improved season over season. Just finished my season 3 rewatch and it looks damn good so I expect this to be a real looker in 4K.

Deranged lol. I guess It IS their big summer blockbuster…

Wonder how much of this is going to the cast. It's been a few years, they probably got to negotiate some nice raises.

Hopefully the new season stays thematically consistent throughout. The seasons have gradually gotten worse; the show has no idea what it wants to be anymore.

What this really means is people on the internet will complain that "this doesn't look like $30 million tbh, more like $20 million or even just $15 million."

Shame how many other shows have probably died for this show to continue to grow.

I really liked Stranger Things S1, but it ended just fine and I grew bored with S2 very quickly. Never bothered with 3. Won't likely watch 4.

I'd have preferred a S2 of Cowboy Bebop for probably 1/20th of the total cost.
3 was great

I only watched season 1 and liked it and never watched any of the other seasons tbh.

Everyone saying it gets worse as it goes on does nothing to sway me lol. I'm intrigued by this budget though.

My family and I had the exact same trajectory with the show.

It's hilarious how long it's taken for them to shoot this shit.

Does it have to be universally appealing or something? It's Netflix's biggest show - whether you like it or not has no bearing on that.
Many people don't get the appeal of Star Wars or Superheroes or anime either. People are allowed to like different things.

Stranger Things has massive mindshare and pop culture relevance. It appeals to a lot of people.

Probably. Didn't know it was worthy of that amount of money investment but good for them I guess.

Mando, Halo and Peacemaker were like 15-20m per episode.

That seems like a lot for Peacemaker, though I guess they did do progressively more effects work later on. And Eagley was in it more than GOT wolves.

I only watched season 1 and liked it and never watched any of the other seasons tbh.

Everyone saying it gets worse as it goes on does nothing to sway me lol. I'm intrigued by this budget though.

Honestly I think it's gotten significantly better each season. S1 was derivative, S2 was a more unique repeat of S1, S3 was a nigh perfect summer blockbuster. I had an amazing weekend binging that last season and just having a ball with it.

Every time one of their other series isn't seen by 500 million people 2 hours after release Netflix raises the Stranger Things budget by 10 dollars.

Well at least Stranger Things will be a dope swan song for the service.

I love stranger things but did they basically buy a town just to film it in?

also, I'll have to resub for one month to watch this season, same for the last season.

We've been doing a series rewatch and just finished season 2. It's a fun show. Really looking forward to season 4.

The production value look insane from the trailer.

It's not going to work for Netflix in the long run but I'm here for all the benefit. Can't wait to binge this the day they come out.

Those kids' agents are going to take Netflix to the cleaners for the inevitable Stranger Things: 90s Edition (aka: Please Stop Unsubbing, Here's More Stranger Things You Bastards).

Facts, I want more Bebop.

The smaller scope and tone of season 1 was perfect and likely the appeal, what helped make it so popular.

Producers and creators always want to go bigger which doesn't necessarily translate to better and loses its authenticity and genuineness of what made it so popular in the first place.

Meh, S1 is definitely the best, but its still extremely popular

Whether the budget is super high or not doesn't even really matter in regards to what you're saying, because they're never going to get the magic of S1 back anyhow due to the kids being much older now

If there's any show to place all your $$$$$$/chips on it's stranger things
It's coming at the right time with everyone unsubscribing, I'll be subscribing just for season 4

Why? They're never going to get that money back through subs and increasing the sub price will only make more people leave the service.

as someone who enjoyed season 3 a lot and will watch the remainder of the show,

stranger things should have been an anthology series. i'm finding fewer and fewer reasons to care about the increasing weirdness of the upside-down.

the flipside are the flanagan shows. each one has arguably been better than the last. midnight mass will stick with me for a long time.

I was just by the beautiful new Netflix studios here in Albuquerque. Those gigantic complexes aren't going to build themselves!

I think this is one of their biggest shows. Defnitely worth the money.

Edit: some of the hot takes in here about Netflix's business model are fucking hilarious. Didn't know we had so many CFOs of multi billion dollar media empires on Era.
