I trust Dusk Golem and even if he didn't mention MH for Switch we already had several other hints about such a game in the past (Zell, Nate and Matrixman all mentioned the game). I just hope it will be announced soon so we can finally close the back and forth and see how sales in Japan turn into madness.
I have to imagine that a 'Monster Hunter Switch' isn't going to be multiplatform. It's gonna be the new portable MH game that Japan is gonna go absolutely bananas for. MHS and MHW to continue as two different shards of MH.
What engine was MH World running on?The most interesting is that it's RE Engine and it sounds like a separate custom RE Engine designed specifically for the Switch's architecture. I'm hoping that means the RE Engine games can be ported too if of course, it's not too expensive to convert them to this custom RE Engine.
RE Engine Monster Hunter?
That's exciting af. Not because of how it will look, but it will feel different enough from World so it wont be like playing the exact same thing.
The optics of having them separate could be easier for them, especially if the hypothetical "Monster Hunter Switch" is heavily based on the assets of the previous mainline game like past Ichinose games have been.
It's been quite a few years of waiting, but Monster Hunter 5 will finally be announced.
It came out last week. Did you miss it?Dusk can you tell us when Maximo 1&2 Remastered Knight Edition is coming out?
**CITATION DOES NOT EXIST**
It exists on Twitter. And those were pretty much his exact words.
What would make you think that? I don't think Ichinose has ever done a Monster Hunter that's ever been lacking in monster count. It's certainly possible that MH Switch wouldn't have the head count of Iceborne necessarily, but I can guarantee that there would be more unique monsters compared to that game.If the switch (pun intended) to RE engine is true, then sadly it probably won't have many monsters...

At the very least, Ichinose's game has been in development for over 3 years.Well, if that's the first re engine mh, they'll have to start from scratch, next games will just reuse assets and add more.
As the first game, it will probably be more limited and far less diverse than generations.
But I'm no tech specialist, maybe they'll be able to import some mt framework assets into re engine, I don't know...
I can only imagine that the work that they've been doing with adapting RE Engine to Switch was also to work on tools to import assets as well, since sharing is such a vital part of the Monster Hunter wheelhouse. But yeah, I'm not particularly worried about how the roster turns out since they've always been a leader in that regard. Frankly, being more limited and less diverse than Generations would still mean great things, since comparing any game to Generations in those regards makes all of them come up lacking!Well, if that's the first re engine mh, they'll have to start from scratch, next games will just reuse assets and add more.

I also thought this date seemed pretty relevant. One of the rumours said preorders would open on the 9th too. It's the 9th of September same day as the COD multiplayer gameplay, that's my guess anyway
i'm stocking up on popcorn and gifs
What makes you think it's a more classic monster hunter? Was that said anywhere?I feel like there are so many qol things in World that I don't know if I could go back to a more "classic" Monster Hunter game. World just got it's hooks in me so much that I would be perfect fine if they only did sequels in that style from here on out.
That said, if this switch game exists, I'll probably still buy it. With World winding down next month, it might be nice to have a side monster hunter to mess around with. I just hope they find ways around the switch limitations... Mainly graphics and online functionality. Perhaps this will be the star game to help sell the rumored new Switch?
That would be hilarious. Or maybe a game multi with Mobile.Looking forward to this turning out to be Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Speculation on my part. There seems to be a decent chunk of the fan base that wants a game in the older style and I'm assuming that Capcom will try and capitalize on that. What makes you think it's a more classic monster hunter? Was that said anywhere?
Was Monster Hunter Stories even successful enough to warrant a sequel, in RE engine at that? Making a custom RE engine run on Switch sounds like a lot of work just for a spin-off that will barely sell.Looking forward to this turning out to be Monster Hunter Stories 2.

I do wonder if those more powerful Switch rumours releasing next year come to fruition if Nintendo will do a 'new n3DS' and have games exclusive to that platform? That would leave the door open for ports of other RE Engine games in the future for that iteration, perhaps. What's the point of developing MH switch on the Re engine If they know the other games can't be ported? It would make more sense to continue using MT Framework, an engine that the team is familiar with, that is used with the previous games and It's already supported by the switch. Seems like a waste of resources.
Unless Capcom plans to develop more switch exclusives, but that Seems doubtful given their known strategy.
Apparently both are happening: MH Switch and MH Stories 2.Looking forward to this turning out to be Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Not particularly. The game itself sold just OK in Japan, but since it was part of a multimedia effort to expand the appeal of the IP, selling just OK isn't enough, especially with the anime being quickly forgotten. Even the pseudo-sequel they made for mobile in Monster Hunter Riders seems have already been forgotten by Capcom themselves and I don't think anyone would be surprised if it gets shut down relatively soon. Was Monster Hunter Stories even successful enough to warrant a sequel, in RE engine at that?

No, they weren't.
And if they were, it would be easy to proof, so he could easily give that citation.
