Bit late to the party on this as I only just started playing the demo this evening. I only have two questions so far,

1) I'm not expected to fight every enemy in the open areas am I? That seems way too much. I ended up galloping past most of them.

2) What am I allowed to sell at the shops? I'm too scared to sell anything at the moment incase I need it later.

1. No and with the horse if you bash into the enemies you will get exp. Do not that you have to be in a battle to level up for some reason.

2. You don't really need to sell anything. I just hoarded everything and was raking in the cash plus Eleven, Jade and Erik have a pep power that allows them to double your earnings and exp in battles.

So I finished Act 2, was there anything else that I needed to do after that?
Or Should I go straight into Act 3? Was there anything important that I can miss or can't get in Act 3?

I just tried taking on
the Timewyrm and its tail.

I got my ass kicked. Badly.

I can't imagine trying to these Tickington dungeons without Holy Protection

I'll come back later to fill out the Bestiary, whatever

Ermm so I have the parade outfit, how do I get rid of it? I'm choosing no outfit option yet the parade outfit remains? I already completed the parade story too.

I'm giving in and doing seed farming for a while. Stronger Enemies + Shypox + Super Shypox + Protagonist Wipeout is just too brutal for endgame and I don't really want to turn them off.

Hi. I heard that you get something special for playing the demo in the full game. Do you have to load the demo save? Because I kind of feel like restarting the game since it's been so long since I've played the demo. Also, do you have to have finished the demo, or just played it? Lol. Sorry for being random.

The Japanese version gave you skill seeds for getting to the end but I believe the US version has nothing.

So how do I spec Eric to make him a killing machine? In act 2 and I find he's only useful in group fights, or for placing down his sigil and going for status x6 attacks.

In the guile skill tree, Erik can learn Divide. Get that and it will make Erik make three copies of himself thus racking up the damage. Does even more if you combine it with the status x6 attacks and an oomple boost.

It takes a bit of a set up but it was how I managed to tear through the final boss. I also had Erik equipped with two knife with one being the ear ring knife as it allowed Erik do three attack in a row than just two.

Cool thanks

Is there a place online that shows the full skill trees, or at least what the various hidden skills are in each branch? Money isn't the issue for testing with a few respecs but I'd like to better plan out my whole team now that I've unlocked everyone's fully powered version.

You can find out from the game if you to into the menu that lets you check the party stats, it will show all the skill trees, including the ones that are hidden.

But I used this guide during my playthrough.

All my characters are around level 60 and I'd like to think they have decent skill builds, am I good for the
second and third trials? The first one felt easy enough.

Is Hendrik a permanent party member? If not, I won't bother upgrading his equipment.

Finally finished up Act 1. 33 hours and change and hero at level 39.

Really loving the game and I keep getting more and more sucked into it as the story picks up.

I don't remember the last time a game has had it's hooks in me so intensely and so consistently. I've been playing pretty much every chance I've had, and played this entire weekend. 60 hours in and I still can't stop thinking at work about the next time I can get my hands in it and play a shit ton more.

So I turned the battle speed down to normal from Ultra fast.

That was slow mo as hell.

Oh well. Managed to get to level 98 before finishing act 3 so I'm doing good

You're probably fine for both. No harm in attempting them. Even if you get to the end of the third and can't clear the boss, there's still some great loot to find in the final trial that's very nice to have.

Finished Act 1 at 50 hours. Hero at Level 41.

I don't like the CG cutscenes. The characters look different and it's jarring

Beautiful ending to Act Two - finished at level 63.

I kept a second save for the true timeline. Going back and saving the world and keeping Veronica is awesome but it all feels like a big what-if. Serena had a powerful development and blossomed into one of my favorite characters in the second act... only for that to all be undone. I want her haircut back, too. Or Sylvando coming to terms with his father. It just kinda makes me really sad. Yeah, I guess it is the ethical thing to do, but we got rid of the real timeline in the process and all that growth and those developments. We still brought peace back to the world. At least the Hero gets to keep his memories... still... that was a hard decision for me.

The field theme changing to the legendary Adventure theme from III gave me chills, omg.

finally reached the credits: 81 hours on the clock, hard monsters on. that last boss was tough, thought it was never going to go down!
up there with the best DQs, a beautiful world and a pleasure to play.
not really interested in post-game content, but then I'm like that with every game, once the credits roll I feel like the game is over.
now to read up on all the things I missed, there's always something big haha.

Can someone explain
dual-wielding with Erik and Sylvando? Sometimes when I try to equip two weapons it won't let me

Bought this last week after finishing the demo, now I'm deep into act 2. The demo did a really good job of making me invested in the story, I must say.

Are you trying to equip different types of weapons? Also I don't think you can dual-wield 2-handed weapons, which Sylvando's whips count as.

Is there any point to horses in 2D at all? Not that I ever used them in 3D either, but it just seems to change your sprite in 2D.

Are they the same type of weapon? You can put on two daggers but not a dagger and a sword or boomerang.

Act 3 Wishes on partner endings

So you can redo your wishes on who to end up with so I went and did Gemma thinking I'll just get the reward now and redo it later.

THE GAME KICKS YOU TO COBBLESTONE IMMEDIATELY.
I got a terrible feeling and ran to Gemma's house. She's not there. Amber tells me it was a lovely wedding and the mayor talks about how he wasn't sure at first but because of all the hero's deeds, he was glad to give his blessing.

I go back to the hero's house. Gemma is there. Calling him darling with voice lines. Being all giggly.

Shiiiiit. It's stupid but I'm gonna feel like scum if I revert this now.

IIRC, you can still get short haired Serena in act 3.

OH
Nearing the end of CH1 and I think I am a bit obsessed with finding all the mini medals. I'm at 54/55 and cannot find the one I am missing, been at it for days. Maybe I should just move on. Other than that this is a phenomenal game!

So Digital Foundry will do a Dragon Quest XI S analysis video.

Finally. I've been pretty surprised that they haven't done it, given how close it is to the PS4 version.

I just tried taking on
the Timewyrm and its tail.

I got my ass kicked. Badly.

It's just not even fun, I don't see the point of doing it. The only way to win I think is to cheese it with pep powers.

I don't think that boss was designed well at all.

120 hours later I finally completed act 3. About the only thing I didn't do was the tockington stuff and the secret trial. Finally I'm free to play something else lol. Absolutely adored the game and hell I almost want to go and play the DQVIII port on 3DS. I have it but I think I need a break from DQ and I already play through the original on PS2 years ago.

I have to say the end of Act 1

While very predictable, was very impressive. I just wish that cutscene was in engine rather than CG. The CG looks fine in a vacuum but the characters faces look weird, maybe too much detail? Anyway, now I'm Sylvando on his own (sick), is this new content? Is this the separate character stories?

Yes, the Sylvando stuff is new content and the separate character stories.
