Testing is done, livestock animals do populate until 5 in each area as long as they're provided for. Ghosts continued to be a nuisance, animals apparently won't always sleep indoors even if you have more than enough pet beds... unless you assign them a room. That helped.

I'm very close to a 4th gen kitty now, dogs are next...

And speaking of Dogs...

Major late game spoiler...
You can use the Mirror of Ra on the dog you found way back in Furrowfield!
Thanks for posting the results. So getting them all indoors you assigned a room with a sign or created an animal house or paddock for them?

I love this game so much, easily my fave DQ spin-off. I'm only about half-way through the second island but having a blast with it. Glad to hear there's lots more story content, I've already got the season pass purchased and ready to dive in to that too. Gonna be playing for a WHILE.Though sometimes I wish they didn't explain quite so much everything you're supposed to do.

Do we know what the season pass entails?

I created a very large animal house with an attached paddock using the spa curtain door that doesn't need to be opened because I noticed the larger cows were having a hard time using the normal fence gate doors. They were still sleeping outdoors and were at risk of being flambé, so I made a bunch of generic room signs and put 15 of them in the animal house and assigned all the animals to live there. That seems to have done the trick.

If you have animal beds in other (unassigned) rooms they may also try to crash out for the night in places that aren't their assigned room, but as long as they're in a room they seem safe from the ghoulies. You can also use the postgame item that stops monster spawns (Mark of Erdrick) if you don't want to go to a lot of trouble to keep your animals safe. I have one in the Scarlet Sands and the Cerulean Steppes so my experimental animal side farms are completely safe.

Just Finished Island 1. WHAT A GREAT GAME. Loving the vibes but have a question about what you recommend doing next. Should i aproach the optional tablet checklist or continue the story/island 2?

Cool. Thanks. Right now I have a park next to my animal house and paddock is separate so I might move it over and copy your curtain idea to separate the rooms. And keep signs made just in case.
I don't think the modern pack comes with an island
You are right. Only two new islands. Well, one new one for fishing sidequest story and the other place is attached to blossom bay. It's two new explorer shores. If there is another, it's past where I am in the game which is supposed to be right before island 3

I've only finished the first island in the English version and I'm pretty sure I've already seen more alliterations than I'll ever see in the entire rest of my life.

This game is so much fun. Just got to island 2 earlier today—love the change in scenery from the first island. I hope Square continues this series (as well as DQ Heroes) for as long as possible.

the trowel has 2 modes
- build mode which makes walls in front of you
-and swap mode which exchanges the tiles you select with tiles in your inventory (and changes the floor if you use L)

you can choose the mode in the tools menu by going up or down on the dpad
Ah yeah, I'm referring to build mode, not swap mode

After you return from the interlude after the second island...

Get yourself some Monster Munchies and go recruit a chimaera from the Iridescent Island (Explorer Shore) ASAP. Ride it.

Let the story progress, this is addressed
You can use the watchfires (or whatever they were called - looks like a free standing torch) to make a line they shouldn't cross until the enemy is closer.

On another note, I'm in the post-game, is it possible to use the trowel to lay out bricks on the ground rather than making a wall?
Thanks! I forgot the watchfires actually had a function - that would have made that section a bit easier.

Finished the game today, entered into post-game. I'm kinda tempted to do a second run-through at some point so I can do better builds in the islands, but after putting in 70-plus hours I don't know if I can jump right back-in... I might wait a while to see if any of patches or improvements come out (along with DLC) and then do a second run-through. But really engrossing game - so glad they developed this series, and here's hoping they one day do a DQB3 (building off DQIII's story?)

Can someone explain me why the season pass costs 21 euros but the addition of all the elements inside the season pass is only 16 euros?

Its there a pack missing from the season pass that they havent revealed? Because if they think the simple bonus stuff is a good way to take 5 mores euros from me, they are pretty out of this world.

If nothing is missing I suppose is better getting the elements one by one right?

Im spanish so i didnt understand the joke when i read info about the book in english, is blue print another way to say something vulgar? The spanish joke is also pretty great, though is a cooking/porn magazine.

If you don't like it now you probably won't like it later on either. The MC is very weak, and when facing stronger foes it can take a while of hit and run to defeat them. Aside from that, later in the game
you get to use traps and contraptions to fight enemies
, but its novelty wears off pretty quickly.

Blue is another way of saying smutty or slightly taboo ("turn the air blue" is a way of saying someone is swearing a lot) so a blue
print is an exceptionally lowkey way of saying porno mag. Especially when the dude who probably has it says the day before he's found something and basically can't wait to go home and have a wank

Yeah, then is exactly the same kind of joke but saying breast and legs in spanish, as those words apart from being tipically parts of a chicken so it could be a cooking book also can mean the vulgar way of talking about the boobs and tights of girls. The way the miner talks could also sujest of him going to his cell and have a wank or using it to cook some delicious food lol

And after looking at the building stuff at the awakening island, it seems its really a missable object if you dont take it and put it in your inventory the next day. The books im the game are red and have no drawings but this one is pink and has a heart.

Just finished the first island.

Damn this game is great. I'm enjoying this so much... almost like playing a video game for the first time.

It strikes such a perfect balance between everything. Every time I think "this could become tedious", the game throws some twist at you or makes things more convenient. For example when the villagers start cooking and providing food themselves, do farming themselves or even build your blueprints. There is action, puzzles, story, exploring, building creativity... it's crazy. And it's relaxing and easy in a good way.

Usually Japanese devs are not the best with UI but the game is seriously smart about that aspect, too. Like how the backpack works, how you move items etc.

Even the overly tutorial-y way everything is explained to you doesn't bother me here too much because in the way it is presented with the ever charming dialog.

I almost cannot imagine not liking this game. The first one was already great but this one is even better.

Just finished the game. That ending was much longer than I thought it would be and pretty cool.
If this simple and cute type of story is what some people found boring in DQXI, count me in, because I loved it.

Now the choice is between building my island or starting Fire Emblem lol

Still if someone could help me here, im intereted in the dlc but the pricing is strange:

Well I have the season pass and got:
1. Hotto Steppe pack including a new explorer shore.
2. Aquarium pack with new explorer shore
2. Modern pack with blocks/recipes but no explorer shore

I think that's everything. Weird the pricing is different...

So its indeed more pricey actually buying the season pass than everything separate... That would be strange and stupid.
Its the same on the usa eshop?

Game only gets better from there on out. And it is LONGGG you have so much more to do it's mind boggling lol. Other than 1 spot that's 1-2 hours the game is just amazing and constantly surprises you with new tools/upgrades/conveniences. I'm pretty sure this is my GOTY 2019 it's shockingly great!

Is it not possible to create a big restroom with multiple toilets/pots? I'm in chapter 2. I create one room with seven pots and one toilet, seperated by the wooden blinders. I put some lights and some towels. The people are only using the toilet.

From what ive seen, they even hate when there not nough room to queue outside the door and start to not using it. So when building a bathroom, always have a straight 3 squares at least empty space outside the door.

Yeah it's daft. They all queue outside the entire room as well. I just did it for the mission and then made a seperate toilet area.

Anyone who's played DQXI: is the writing on the same level as Builders 2? If so, immediately sold.

The only thing ive heard its that some people didnt like it becuase they were bored of how simple it is. If its the same type of simplicity as this game, im also sold.
I found it such a cute little story, mostly comedic but with some serious moments, but nothing too crazy.

I haven't experimented enough with bigger rooms, so I just create separate restrooms. Seems to work.

Oh, man in the middle of chapter 2 and I'm so pleased how much better it's gotten. I was annoyed how, in the first island, if you explored you basically got a bunch of the "You can't talk with this person yet." Yet Chapter 2 doesn't do that. I discovered the Iron cave BEFORE the entrance was broken down. That's nice.

Is there a way for the bar to MAKE the fruit drinks for me. I tried adding a chest with ingredients, and nothing.

I've only finished the first island in the English version and I'm pretty sure I've already seen more alliterations than I'll ever see in the entire rest of my life.

Welcome to Dragon Quest :)

I'm not much further than you and I would guess no. The first game had some weird hitboxes that made combat super awkward (literally hit or miss) but they fixed it this time so I'm pleased with that (only dumb thing is if you and your enemy are separated by one block height you can't charge a spin attack and move off/jump on to hit.

Just finished the game. That ending was much longer than I thought it would be and pretty cool.

I'd second Opa-Pa 's take (I'm only on Island 2 in Builders 2 and maybe a little past half way in XI) but outside it being a little more serious at times the same charm is certainly there. AND you've got (IMO) GREAT voice acting (but for the Switch you can turn it to Japanese or even off completely if it bugs you)

Another thing to consider is that the Switch version is adding a cool set of sidequests that take you to other DQ worlds (mainline games). Builders 2 is a sequel/sidestory to DQII so I imagine there might be a part where you go "Oh so this is when THAT happened..."

Otherwise, it's kinda like telling a Zelda newcomer playing Wind Waker that, yeah, Breath of the Wild is certainly similar for that overall feel and experience.

1. Hotto Steppe pack including a new explorer shore.

There's no time limit on buying the Season Pass right? I've been a bit short on money lately even though I made SURE to get the Day 1 stuff like the Sigil blocks/DQ logo/etc.

Still loving the hell out of this game but the writing on island 2... I forgot dragon quest is so dumb and pervy sometimes. Sheesh

Yeah, when I heard all the "ISLAND 2 IS SEXIST AS HELL" I was really bracing myself for the worst, but I feel like it's more awkward than anything else. Although the guys saying they've known Babs since she was a child but also hoop and hollar for her to dance is genuinely a bit creepy. At least there's no dumb gendered armor crap for the hero.

Is it not possible to create a big restroom with multiple toilets/pots? I'm in chapter 2. I create one room with seven pots and one toilet, seperated by the wooden blinders. I put some lights and some towels. The people are only using the toilet.

Yeah I built a bathroom where that wooden toilet was. I think it's too cramped. In the first chapter, I build a partial underground tunnel with a bathroom at the end, a room on the left half way down and one by the opening, and for some reason they don't use that last one. I was pleased to discover you can make personal bathrooms using a name sign though.

Been playing this and mostly had a blast.

But I think the post-chapter 2 stuff may have killed my interest. Between really bad mechanics and more of The Ominous Voice (a minute of unstoppable waiting while three words appear on a screen. yay) I feel like I need a Switch to keep me occupied while my Switch is idle.

Got through it and on to Chapter 3 but just not feeling it. Especially as 3 is supposed to be more combat heavy (?) and I truly hate the combat in this game.

Will probably put it down for a few weeks and pick it back up on my next flight or something

It's combat heavy in the sense that you are building gauntlets of death for monsters to go through.

Finished the game, that was a great closing to the story, I loved every second. Took my sweet time too as my Switch says it took me 70+ hours.

One of my complaints about B1 was that while it did awesome things with DQ1's story, it felt too safe in places and rather low budget-ish. B2 is by no means AAA but they got way more creative and knocked it out of the park with the last hours of game. Really masterful stuff.

Now post game looks huge and with endless possibilities. This thing really never stops giving.

Yes, you're reaching the end. I'd suggest you restore your regular appearances so the gear you're wearing is visible, btw.
