Baldur's Gate 3 showed that people are still interested in turn based combat if done right. Was hoping for a return to a deep rpg battle system, but it still looks alright I guess. I'll wait for reviews.

Have they learned nothing from Baldur gate 3, CRPG could been great. Maybe ill go back and play dragon age origin, wonder how it holds up.

Just reminds me too much of other AAA titles that I'm also not that interested in (which, tbf, is also one of my biggest problems with DAI and why I have a hard time justifying going back to it vs DAO or even DAII). Will still probably play at some point, but might skip this year unless I hear good things.

I thought it looked great. Combat looked really fluid and dynamic which is great given the major shift. Also sufficiently complex with blocks, dodges, parries and what not. Really cool that rogues can be melee and archery at the same time. Will be great to see how diverse the other classes are. Very solid foundation to really expand with additional abilities and other tweaks as you level up and get different gear.

Visually looked quite great, the characters definitely have this softening look to them which is a little weird, but I got used to it by the end. Felt like a Dragon Age ass game.

I'm in! Everything looks great. The player was terrible at the combat tho. They didn't make it look cool but it looks fun. Feels good to be back in Thedas again. Don't like the new look of pride demons but it's fine.

Edit: Seen a still shot of the pride demon. Noticed the eyes. I do like it!

I thought that looked pretty cool for just being level 1 gameplay, though I wish they would have shown off some higher-level stuff with actual party mechanics.

Was DA always so colorful? I feel like everything is color coded cause it was supposed to be a live service game lol

Inquisition was when the series got super vibrant. DAO and DA2 were pretty desaturated.

Look good to me! I'm glad it also confirmed basically that other companions will be controllable down the line even tho i would've loved to see it.

People say FF16 but this is FF7R's mechanics, which honestly is great. It's one of the best action rpg systems out there. Considering this is just like basic level 1, i'm pretty excited to see what high level can look like.

Yeah I dunno, it didn't look great. The combat is basically the same as Inquisition but they made it worse (which already was bad) since you now issue commands like Mass Effect instead of controlling your party members.

Yeah this is action "rpg". I'll take my definite L and understand that Dragon Age is not for me anymore. We're never going back to the more crpg roots.

Yeah. I keep hoping they'll make something closer to Origins as it's the only game in the series I truly love for the gameplay and it's not happening.
Lucky for you someone is making old Bioware style RPGs and has decided to go even more old Bioware with RTwP combat for its sequel.

Beautiful Province of Quebec.
Still looking forward to it,I liked what I saw...its early game so they might show deeper dive on the combat later...

I mean this early you had a few ''impactful'' story choices to make already so the dialogue and all might be great.

the only thing I'll say is that the tone of this thread went from "that was just a cg trailer, the gameplay reveal will be the real deal" to "this was just a vertical slice, later gameplay will be the real deal" very quickly

Well that definitely sold me. The character models look nicely detailed and the environments looked good.

I did notice fps struggles but could just be youtube and an older build of the game.

I don't get people that say it looks bad or awful.

Day 1 for me!

People complaining about the combat, are we misremembering Inquisition? Like, have you completely forgotten what you were doing for hours while roaming the Hinterlands? It felt just as basic except you had even less direct control. The combat will obviously open up as you go.

My biggest critique is that it feels like "Okay Dragon Age(tm) fans, here are the Dragon Age(tm) characters you like from Dragon Age(tm): Inquisition, 2014's Game Of The Year* !!"

I would have preferred they start fresh in the same world with all new characters. And I overall prefer the tone of Origins over the sequels, as messy as it could be at times. It feels like a xerox of a xerox of itself at this point.

Combat feels a bit clunky. Like after every dodge there is a second of your character recovering that kinda makes it feel slow in a bad way. Otherwise looks really good. I never cared for the combat of the previous games either, so I actually welcome the action direction if it means I can just cut to the chase quickly.

I'm a fanboy of this universe and characters, so I'm in.

But the combat looks mid and the lack of control over party characters is super disappointing.

Definitely a wait-and-see title for me.
Overall art design seems a little lacking, imo.
And combat very generic, but this is obviously the intro, so I won't judge it too harshly for that.

But I liked the VA.
Little worried that it will be too close to DA2, which was a terrible game (and easily the worst of the franchise), imo.

Curious about the impressions by reviewers, who will probably have seen a lot more than the intro.

Not sold on the dialogue. Seems off somehow and the combat looks boring, but it being level 1 combat might be the reason. Not the ideal showcase but much better than that horrific reveal trailer.

Generic writing and uninspired combat, about what I expected. Obviously the intro isn't going to be the sum total of the game, and is always going to be bland/basic, but I'm picturing like 50+ hours of poking at the same enemies, watching their bars tick down, and my eyes are glazing over.

But the stuff that's the most marketable is also the least compelling, so I'm probably still in. Inquisition was 80% boring too, and I still enjoyed that!

You don't understand. If I don't directly see it in the fifteen minute demo, its obviously not in the game. Gotta say, I question the decision to have a whole bunch of empty ability slots when there's only one ability!

Looks pretty good for the most part but I have some concerns after watching that pride demon fight. The camera being so low made it really hard to tell where the "damage zones" where and where it was safe to dodge to. It also looked like when the character dodged away the enemy would end up outside the camera range and the player would have to move it manually, I sure hope there is an option for a "hard" lock on. There was also some attacks that looked like a wide-beam kind of thing that were hard to see with the height of the camera. Small things but if left as-is could be really frustrating in other fights.

Rogue is not my class but this looks nice. Reminds me of the Intro of DAI. And yes, I´m one of this few people that prefer to control only one character fully and give commands to the others.

Reaaaally hope it's good. What I don't want is FFXVI with worse combat and marginal dialogue choices.

I really liked what I saw overall, would've loved to see more/different abilities, or gameplay for any other class too.

Hm, not sure yet, better than the initial trailer, that's for sure. But I guess I need to see at least more or maybe even wait for reviews, before I make a decision. Especially about characters, story, open world? combat in later stages, etc. They could have shown at least a rough 30 seconds of later gameplay with the open world and some combat later in the game or so at the end. But it's still months away, so plenty of time for it or maybe some previews will already cover that (but I doubt it).

Hard to judge the combat of the game on the level 1, starter ability, can't even control what my companions do part of the game lol. The setting the vibes, the setup, as a dragon age fan I'm all for it.

Inquisitions combat was nothing special at least this looks to have dodges and parries for melee characters. I'm sure just like the other games there will be ability combos too. Day 1 for me.
