But my guy you sell a shirt with the word "Demolitia" in large block letters and an AK-47 on it. Not buying the "we keep politics out of it" spiel. The politics are evident without him saying anything specific.

For real, inherently that type of content is saying something. Only the biggest chickenshits will say they're a-political.

I don't know this dude but I love how he says he wishes some people could be kept from buying his merch and yet he says nothing about guns being widely available to all.

A firearms specific channel feigning ignorance of political affiliations and then also wanting to limit who can buy his merch. Guessing he doesn't feel that way about restrictions on firearms sales.

Didn't even think of that 😂, good point.

So like, yeah of course the shirt and related channel most likely had nothing to do with it, and of course some kind of statement is expected.

i assume he doesn't think his own ideas are political. they are "normal" to him. "politics" is when people disagree.

It's really, really weird how many people in here just immediately gave up. The first few dozen pages in this thread are wild.

That defeatist shit makes me so mad. They should direct their anger and woe at that evil sack of shit. Don't surrender to it...to me, it almost seems or feels like they latently want him to win. And that shit fucking infuriates me.

The Doomer attitude is such a fucking poison, especially on this forum. Like, thank Christ the people actually running Democratic campaigns don't think the way all these defeatists on Era do. "Oh shit Trump got a great photo out of a horrific event, lets not think rationally about this and see how events play out over the next few days after we get more information on what the hell happened (and why). Nope, lets all just immediately throw in the towel, declare Trump the winner and let him waltz back into the White House."

It would be such a self-fulfilling prophecy too. "Well Trump's gonna win anyway so lets not bother. Lets all just give up, stay home, and not vote." Thereby allowing Trump to win due to depressed Dem turnout.

careful someone has a disgruntled rep from x, y, x and a tweet with a couple hundred likes to post with no context in reply to you. im enjoying the reactions on this forum personally. it's made me FAR more active in not only trying to get biden to stay in the race but also donating to his campaign. half the posts in the other threads have me opening my wallet to biden so a huge massive thanks to several folks here. wouldn't have happened at this level until i realized just how lost several on the far left are, already allocated several more $100 chunks over the next few weeks.

Everyone here who is an eligible voter who is not pissed off about Palestine (and probably a lot that are) is going to vote blue. People are simply expressing their dismay at what they think will happen on a macro level, especially with a candidate who inspires the levels of enthusiasm that Biden currently does, the kind of level that barely registers. Just look at the damn polls lol.

Maybe my brain is just fried from the past eight years of batshit politics, but I don't really see how this moves the needle. Trump wasn't seriously hurt, the shooter was a white conservative, and Trump has been blasting his persecution narrative since 2016. I just don't see this swaying anyone who was on the fence or even motivating his base all that much. They already thought he was a messianic figure fighting a holy war on their behalf. Everything is a personal affront and existential threat to a Trump voter, to the extent that he actually got shot and they have no meaningful way to escalate their rhetoric.

My neighbor, whose probably one of the last bastions of the mythical "moderate/independent" who voted for Trump once, not twice, whose a white cis male construction worker (with a POC wife), who was disgusted by Trump's rhetoric and still clings to more traditional GOP ideology— has now, shockingly to me, gone full Trump with this.

Like the attempt for him just instantly validated and normalized all Trumps rhetoric about "political enemies trying to take him out," they are trying in the courts and failing so now they try with violence. He quickly got convinced biden's age and fuck ups caused dramatic moves this week and "they" know Trump is right, the deep state must be real, and he went from being disgusted by him to voting for him in an instant.

It's absolutely wild to me and anecdotally my fear that this suddenly justified a lot for some indies/middle riders that trump is the change that's needed

it'll be interesting to see what happens with the secret service, while an investigation needs to be conducted there are some troubling questions about how a roof was basically left unguarded, there are videos everywhere of people on the ground telling police for a solid straight 3 minutes that there is a weird guy on the nearby roof, and apparently a police officer even climbed the ladder and approached the shooter and backed off when the shooter pointed his rifle at him. There's a lot of conspiracy fodder too which makes it hard to sort truth from fiction.

www.bbc.com

Five questions for the Secret Service after attack at Trump rally

Former agents ask whether the event was properly resourced - and whether warnings about the gunman were passed on.

I just go with incompetence honestly. We've got a mountain of history of cops fucking things up.

Everyone here who is an eligible voter who is not pissed off about Palestine (and probably a lot that are) is going to vote blue. Eh sorry miss me with this when the immediate reaction to this very event was a wave of "IT'S OVER" and "HE'S WON NOW!" for pages and pages. That has nothing to do with Palestine. It was was just negative bullshit.

I'm glad the overall mood has shifted in just a few days, cause seeing all the "this is the moment Trump became President" as this was developing was definitely disheartening. All the crazy shit that's happened in the last few years has definitely made me a lot more wary to just hop on and give my immediate thoughts straight from the top of the dome. All I know is, with the sheer twists and turns things have taken, it feels like damn near anything can happen in the next 4 months

I'm well aware, I just want to make that exception clear for when someone @s me saying they won't vote for the man for that (valid) reason. Otherwise it has no bearing on this matter.

I would bet your neighbor voted for him twice. People are not changing their minds, they're taking their masks off, just like in 2016.

What's the black one?
(Sorry, i'm european)

It's a "thin blue line" flag. The blue line is supposed to represent law enforcement as the "thin blue line" that stands between civilized people and the criminals of society. As you might imagine, there are strong racial and ethnic undertones at play there, and the use of that flag is basically a fascist dog whistle.

Sounds like your neighbor was going to vote for him a third time but was just embarrassed about it.

I like saving dogs channels so I had been subbed to Vet Ranch for a long time, before I knew about "Demolition Ranch".

It sucks that the rest of the vet Ranch team (he's hardly on there anymore) have to deal with this crap. I had unsubbed a bit ago though.

I regret to inform you that he was always gonna vote for Trump a third time. I genuinely don't understand why you believed he was moderate. Y'all gotta stop giving "moderate" white people who have a history of supporting fascism the benefit of the doubt when they preach about how they're merely just a moderate.

I genuinely do hope that the people freaking out and going "He won!" on Saturday do some self reflecting on how reactionary they were being.

I got into him through Vet Ranch as well and knew about the Demolition Ranch side hustle, but I have no care for guns and so never checked it out. Saw the news of the assassin wearing his shirt and finally went there, and holy moly.

Noticing a trend where people who probably were already voting Trump are pretending that his very minor injury now gives them cover to openly declare and that no one can be mad at them for it bc civility or whatever, which feels like a miscalculation. That sticker brand is doing the same thing.

Unbelievable…..doesn't get "involved" in politics yet declines to talk to Joe Biden because of her husband's politics…

Makes sense to me!!!🙃

I don't wanna say it's all Republican women, but a lot of them genuinely don't care about politics, and just follow whatever their husbands are doing politically.

That's how it is for some of my family members.

That Lester Holt snippet is gross. What in the world is he doing there? Dishonest line of questioning indeed.

Disgusting to ask such a question as this when his opponent made fun of a person with special needs and joked around when Pelosi's husband got attacked by a nut with a hammer among many other things. He was probably trying to get Biden to fumble over his words so they can keep that rhetoric going.

Folks here have to realize that folks that switch back and forth exist. Not only that, they are the ones who decide elections
I think folks here realize that well enough. In the mean time, we have 2 polls showing this incident barely moved the needle. No need to talk bout hypotheticals.

jesus. i don't believe for a second this woman doesn't hold some ill will toward Democrats. Who the fuck doesn't take a condolence call from the fucking POTUS out of some misguided loyalty to her now dead husband. And i bet she just views Trump not calling as "he's busy". I will also admit I am just upset about all the idiocy surrounding this shooting.

i see so much more smart/informed callouts all over the web showing how fucking violent the right are and have openly been yet the media are just playing up the stupid both sides shit. It is shocking the left leaning networks aren't hammering the shit out of Vance's Trump comments and the right's calls for violence, that should be the what is being reported on widely. This is only ONE side's doing.

ResetEra is unironically the place I've personally seen with the most amount of lionizing of Trump outside of obvious MAGA circles. Because of this incident people were immediately hailing him as the winner.

The most common reaction I've seen across a bunch of social media has been memes or indifference, and the poll released today showed a small to nonexistent bump for Trump. There are still 4 months worth of news cycles to go. How much sway will this really have 1, 2 or 4 months now?

It's really, really weird how many people in here just immediately gave up. The first few dozen pages in this thread are wild.
Fucking THIS. Era gets mad annoying with their defeatist attitude. A not insignificant number of y'all have got to get a fucking grip and stand the fuck up.

Yeah, there's way too much at stake to give up.

I'm in-between jobs right now and decided to volunteer with my county's Democratic party. Going to spend an hour on my birthday at a virtual seminar on how to talk to people about Project 2025. Fun times, for sure.

If you vote for Trump once I'd not at all be surprised to see it happen again. Trump wasn't hiding who he was in 2016 or 2020 and certainly isn't in 2024.
