He absolutely loves killing.

Never saw him wince in the 8 and 16 bit games. In Mario 64 he's so giddy killing he's yelling Yahoo!!! and Yipee!!! as he does the wetworks.

People give Nathan Drake shit for killing thousands, but at least he doesn't literally shout "Wa-hoo!" every time he does it.

He also enjoy trolling his friends (any multiplayer Mario game)
Mario should be as traumatised as fuck.

-Mario was artificially engineered/enhanced by some higher being(s) as a Star Child - born with "an EXTRAORDINARY amount of power) (Yoshi's Island DS). He could (and did) kill from conception via a Power Star (Yoshi's Island 1).

-At a young age he was swallowed whole by a giant frog and shat out (Yoshi's Island 1). He also suffered when a local felon, Burt (the "Bashful", supposedly) exposed himself towards him (Yoshi's Island 1)

-He was the victim of several attempted kidnappings and assassinations before he was even "born" (Yoshi's Island games)

-In his infancy, he has been repeatedly travelled in time to play sports and racing against his future self (Mario Kart/Sports series)

-He was engaged in combat during an alien invasion while a toddler (Mario & Luigi Partners in Time)

-In unclear circumstances, he was relocated from the Mushroom Kingdom to Earth (Donkey Kong)

-He served in Vietnam (Mario's Bombs Away) specialising in explosive weaponry in the field. As a trained Doctor (Dr. Mario series), he presumably also served in a medical capacity, dealing with wounded soldiers and facing death on a daily basis.

-He had to repeatedly battle an out-of-control ape, the trauma of which seeminly destroyed his relationship with his partner, Pauline (Donkey Kong).

-During his miserable existence in the Mushroom Kingdom, he is forced to act out a grotesque repeating theatre of rescuing a repeatedly-abducted monarch from her political rival (Super Mario games), with the knowledge that the monarch in question is fully capable of freeing herself (Super Princess Peach) and presumably does it all for attention. Even in his dreams, he has no respite (Super Mario Bros. 2)

Potential PTSD. Repressed trauma. Exposure to violence and conflict during infancy. Disruptive and chaotic upbringing. Exposed to the horrors of war. Disturbed relationships. Sleep disorder. Killing others throughout childhood.

It's actually amazing he hasn't killed more.
I still remember your Mario timeline, it's so much deeper than anyone can think.

Mario's only known character trait is his well documented lust for blood.

Mario is the villain. Bowser is trying to put an end to all the killing and plundering.

Think about it. The lands are filled with creatures native to the area. Where's all the people suffering? Wheres all the friendly creatures in need of saving? There are non. The toadstool empire and Mario bros are blight.

Mario should show up in the hospital at the end of the game and shake the hand of all the koopas he's jumped on

The whole gang has psychosis up the Whazoo.

Luigi has the same problems as Mario, but also sees dead people regularly
Peach clearly has a thing for kidnapping fantasies. She has the power to break free (Super Princess Peach) but chooses not to
Toad's bombed flora and fauna in Wario's Woods
Yoshi's tried psychadelics (fuzzies), which is probably not good for reptile brains
Wario... Wario is just Wario
Daisy has a thing where she has to remind herself who she is
Rosalina has abandoment trauma

Waluigi's probably the most sane, but that's just from what we see.

He's indifferent. Mario games are plays and the enemies are fellow actors.

Of course. You gotta love what you do if you do it for that long.

Mario enemies are like daedra. They respawn in Bowser's kingdom right after they're poofed away
That's literally what happened to enemies in the Super Mario Super Show's Legend of Zelda cartoon. Every time an enemy would "die" via Link's sword blast or Zelda's magic arrow, they'd appear in this giant flask of monsters in Ganon's lair.

I like to think that when he stomps a goomba he pivots his foot on their face and spits
