Damn people already shitting on V.

Watch he have the best play style because he's new and will get crazy new cool shit.

Yea the reactions to him are weird to say the least. I'm looking forward to seeing how he plays. It's nice to have a character not related to Dante or Nero. A totally different style.

And the presumption that he won't be fun is kind of laughable. Nothing I have seen thus far has suggested they don't know what they are doing in terms of combat. I doubt V will be different .

People shaming V for his limp and his hair. Shameful behavior. I thought this place was supposed to be progressive smh

Progressive doesn't mean that people are perfect. I do agree I dislike the sentiment of "oh look weak, pathetic" being of his gait. I actually really appreciate them having a character with a disability. Doesn't mean he can't be badass, which he seems to me.

The reaction to V reminds me of the reaction to Nico.

I bet over time (read; more trailers) people would grow fond of him like they do Nico.

Feel like there's gonna be some "Friendship ended with Nero. Now V is my best friend" tier shenanigans by the end.

Here's a thought: Since we have so many returning enemies, how hype would it be if V could summon a miniature Phantom?

Watch V's only move be the ability to summon Vergil

And then you just play as Vergil

What a twist that would be

I feel virtually certain that DMC5 will eventually add Trish, Lady, and Vergil as playable characters via DLC. Wouldn't be surprised to see additional weapons via DLC either.

Yeah, I was thinking they'll implement this feature for a while.
Maybe it'll happen near the end of the story, when the player experiences all of Nero, Dante, and V campaigns. Then all three team up to the final area.

DLC characters and weapons would be so disappointing. A full on "expansion" that comes in one burst and has entirely new levels, bosses and story cutscenes is fine, but "pay us extra five or six times so you can use these characters and weapons in the levels you already played" just feels exploitative and wrong.

I'd certainly prefer the latter, of course, but you can look at DMC3SE and DMC4SE to see how the game has traditionally been expanded.

If we do get Trish, Lady, and Vergil back down the road, I hope they are better balanced than they were in 4SE. They seemed to be designed to be fun and powerful first(which isn't bad) but 4's enemies were not equipped to handle those characters, especially Vergil.

Agreed - though it looks like what we're getting in DMC5 is more like Nero and Dante being kinda powered up to be closer to 4SE's Trish/Lady/Vergil in terms of hitboxes and impact and so on, and that's fine too as long as the enemies are well balanced around it.

I think Lady's level 3 Kalina Ann charge absolutely needs to go, of course. The sheer damage output of that move is kinda dumb.

Yeah this. It's almost a given that if they do Trish/Lady it's going to function like DMC4SE.

If they let me play as Lady...which seems likely, I'll be quite thrilled.

Hopefully they consider releasing this on Switch. And anyone who says *not gonna happen the switch can't run it" with reduced effects this would easily run. The levels seem very linear and I see nothing in the gameplay that strikes me as insanely taxing. Just high resolution and high poly counts paired with a great suite of particle effects and lighting. This almost seems easier to put on Switch than RE2 REmake.

If we get Lady and Trish, give Lady her machine guns and gunkata moves from 3 pls, and to differentiate Trish from Dante, like 2 and unlike 4 give her dmc1 force edge/alastor/sparta and ifrit movesets

For Vergil I would like him to be a hybrid of his 3SE and 4SE incarnations, maybe even toss in a few DmC moves of his

I mean, you'd likely also have to sacrifice framerate to get DMC5 running at a decent level on the Switch, & we all know how that turned out for DmC. That plus the Switch doesn't currently support the RE Engine.

Maybe as cloud version in JP only, can't see it clashing with Bayonetta 3 since it's now Nintendo's flagship 3rd party character action game and PG would've been real pissed about a "rival" game messing with their sales.

That could work if those two are scaled up to match.

Yeah, I'll miss that. I do wonder if they'd keep Vergil being able to repeatedly dimension slash in devil trigger cuz that shit was ridiculous, even if it was limited to that form.

Well we don't know that the Switch doesn't support the engine. Capcom helped in the designing of the Switch from the RAM amount to the OS/UI with the express intent of running RE Engine. Likely the engine is made to be scalable like MT Framework. They had to design it to put out RE7 on two displays simultaneously at 60fps to work on PSVR. Makes me think that it is versatile in how much or little it requires.

Point is I'm doubtful they'd need to pump it out at 30fps. They know the importance so they'd likely optimise the engine and make sacrifices in visual quality and use dynamic resolution rather than cut frames.

Just my thoughts

DMC4SE's Vergil was hilarious. Probably my favorite overall moveset in a DMC game. Just fun to fuck around with, even if he kind of trivializes most fights. Infinitely stunlocking Sanctus made me laugh my ass off, especially because of the stupid noises he makes when he takes hits.

Hopefully I can play Nero the whole way, or most of it. I prefer Nero to Dante personally, he clicked more with me gameplay-wise.

Unless V turns out to be super awesome, of course.

Me too. Dark Slayer needs to be in there.
Vergil was soo god damn good in DMC4 SE, he made that edition worth it.
I hope Itsuno won't let that delicious teleporting katana unsheathing gameplay go to waste.

My hope is that (in coleration with leaked cutscenes)
V is a traitor, demon in disguise who will fuck up Dante/Nero and you will play as Vergil later or that Vergil is a boss which drops Yamato for Dante.

Yeah, hopefully it's the former more than the latter. Yamato just wasn't the same when Dante uses it. I need my full Dark Slayer moveset, and nobody in this cast is classy enough to pull it off.

Was hoping to be able to play with the ladies as well.

Trish and Lady were my jam in 4.
