Yeah...Curse of Osiris....almost killed the game completely, dead in the water. People just stopped playing. People went to like....Monster Hunter, fuck even I went to Monster Hunter and that game was painful to play compared to Dwstiny character movement wise. People wanted grind.
The Planet Destiny Podcast got shut down because there no revenue being generated because there was nothing to stream, there was nothing to do in game.
Then Warmind came along.
- Enjoyable Campaign with a character that didn't fuck off and peace out on you at the end
-Stuff to do...there was stuff to do again. Simple things like the Sleeper Stimulanf quest line, having you search for hidden music boxes in hard to find places (this gave content creator things to make videos for). The Polaris Lance quest line, and
Escalation Protocol......though botched in execution (should have been one dedicated area to phase into, something I believe Dreaming City is fixing) led to the community finding work arounds. (keyword the community sticking together and finding solutions) reminded me of finding work arounds for Pre Expansion patch for House of Wolves when we grinding keys in D1
New Raid Layer and then there was free stuff too, like re-worked exotics, re-worked exotic armor, masterworks for exotics and of course the from out of no where Whisper of the Worm Discovery and weapon (it's not black spindle it's black hammer)
All these things revived the game. Solstice of Heroes, also free, got people talking all over again and bringing people up in light level. I know the majority here hate that there is no LFG in game, but that's because the majority here play on PS4 and they don't have a LFG system built directly into their OS like Xbox does.
So this renewed interest in the game, the big community feed back event hosted by Bungie which directly effected what we are getting with Forsaken....plus one of the podcasters presenting this to the owners of Planet Destiny, saved that network.
