Biden's plan includes canceling debt if you make under 25k. Ain't nothing.
We're working on guidance around this. For now, anybody using a diagnosis of anything as a way to mock anybody is already against the TOS as ableist rhetoric. Same reason we don't let people post "REEEEE" memes or use ableist slurs. Definitely report those. What about armchair neurological diagnosing people with dementia and concern trolling about it?
There have been numerous people in this thread that suffer from and/or know people who suffer from neurological and mental health issues that have mentioned how hurtful this is. Nothing has been done about it even after reporting posts.
No shit. Biden should still do better.Sure, but it's far, far stronger than the nothing that the GOP will offer up.

That depends on the order all of this happens in, no? If you pass a minimum wage hike that phases in over a couple of years (which I believe is still the plan) and then pass a debt relief bill which takes place immediately that's gonna go out towards a fair few.Under 25k is pretty hard to pull off, especially when you couple it with necessary minimum wage hikes. 15 bucks an hour would mean anyone working full time at minimum wage would not qualify for debt cancellation.
So you're right, technically, it's something. It also objectively sucks.
And I already agreed with that assessment. But we need more tbh.No shit. Biden is still doing much better than the one viable alternative in the election, though.

Look at all the unprecedented moves being made that supposedly weren't economically feasible. Our economy will still be hurting after COVID-19 and the people will need some unprecedented policy to help alleviate the upcoming hardship (hell, hardship that already exists for many in this broken system). A stronger student debt cancellation plan is a mere drop in the bucket of things that should have a strong approach taken with an upcoming administration. I'm glad that others see that and are pushing Biden to back better plans.

Well, that depends on how many hours they're working. 12 only gets you there with a full 40 a week, every week, so anybody working part time - 1 job - would be eligible. I'd also be curious to know if it's pre or post tax... probably pre.California already a $12 minimum wage so no one in this state would be under this protection. Anyone making more than $10/hour full time is making too much.
Biden's plan would simplify income-based repayment for federal student loans, and in the process, lower monthly payments.
After 20 years of student loan repayment, you would receive student loan forgiveness for your federal student loans. The amount of student loans forgiven also would not be subject to income tax. Borrowers also would be automatically enrolled in income-based repayment, with an option to opt out.
- If you make less than $25,000 per year: you would owe no payment on your undergraduate student loans and also no interest would accrue.
- If you make more than $25,000 per year: you would pay only 5% of your discretionary income over $25,000 toward federal student loan payments.

Here is Biden's student debt plan, for those who aren't aware yet; if you make over 25k you have to pay a max of 5% of your discretionary income above 25k towards your loan payments:

So, now that we can't call him "Dementia Joe" , how about "Plagiarisin' Joe"?
Focus on that once Bernie drops. How about we don't think of cutesy put downs, and instead direct our hate towards trump?
so if you made $26000 per year, your loan payments would be 5% of 1000 or $50/yr.

How about we focus on the real problem here, Trump. We gain nothing by tearing each other down while the real enemy is out there profiting. So, now that we can't call him "Dementia Joe" , how about "Plagiarisin' Joe"?
Oh, so you're not against put downs when it's "Unity" Joe.
