At least 8 or 9 of those views are mine alone.... I can't stop watching the trailer looking for new things and trying to piece together what we know from all the trailers combined. At first the trailers seemed very disjointed and separate from one another, but it's all starting to coalesce into what's looking like not only a great game but a great piece of entertainment period.

Can't wait to get my BB Pod!

I'm seeing way more people complaining about others for calling this niche than people calling it niche. Death Stranding is obviously being set up as Sony's other big 2019 exclusive game, anyone who knows about MGS knows about this game. It's going to do well, not Spider-Man or God of War numbers but it's a new IP after all.

I'm sure the game will sell quite well but trailers views don't directly translate to sales. Otherwise Labo would have been a huge hit. 10 million for this seems far out there, MGS games didn't even come close to that

That's not how you look at metrics.

For example - Labo has a huge awareness at initial reveal, but the real analysis of the metrics come at the second/third/fourth update - to see if the initial high-awareness factor falls off/stays stable/etc. Labo's drop-off factor in terms of conversion of interest-to-intent of purchase was quite severe.

An example I go back to is Days Gone. The initial gameplay reveal got 10 million views, but I didn't immediately go on to think that it was a game that would sell well from just that. I looked at the drop-off leveling of the next E3's trailers, the stability of views from non-E3 channels and sustained high interest from the GI youtube coverage to finally allow myself to trust the metrics to go "ok this will sell well."

It's still early days to assess sales potential of DS for me, but these kind of growth trajectory - where each major trailer is getting more and more views, with the most recent trailer having the same level of early viewership index of games like Star Wars Battlefront 2, TLOU2, Cyberpunk 2077, etc - in spite of the fact that it's far from the 'first reveal' of the game is really promising.

If a large part of this game is essentially traversal across open-world environments and mostly on foot, I wonder how hard things will lean into survival elements? Things like setting up camp, sleeping, eating / drinking, managing farms or something to that effect in little home bases you set up -- I could get into that if it's well done. What little we saw of the shooting / fighting aspect of the game wasn't particularly compelling in contrast to the potential of the journey-esque stuff here.
