Beefy requirements for sure, but I guess expected as it's next gen only.

I think this is to be expected going forward. 8GB of RAM minimum has really fallen out of practicality, and ideally I'd say that people should be looking at 32GB of RAM over 16 if they can afford that little bit more

5600X and a 2070 GPU?...seems a bit extreme...will this have any ray-tracing features?

16GB ram ....interesting.

Honestly the entire minimum requirements list is interesting.

Have you seen the way the game looks?

This isn't LoL.
Given how the game looks the minimum GPU requirement seems somewhat exaggerated.

My guess is that these are minimum requirements on the safe side and it can run below mostly fine too.

Like someone said, 16GB min. AND maximum doesn't mean much sense.

Wat. Seems like my 7700k is not going to cut it, lol.

It's just funny how many years 4 and then 8gb was the mantra from games press etc, and then boom. It's an amusing (and hyperbolic) state of affairs.

I have, and thanks god it looks so good

I just had a quick reality check that the mid end last gen card is the minimum spec

That is kinda new, isnt it?
Yeah I get it, but the specs were going to be going up at some point, especially with so many gamers demanding for devs to stop doing cross-gen games.
RX 5700 is still a pretty beefy card for minimum specs, though.

I'd be surprised if these specs aren't just overly conservative. Chances are it'll run alright on weaker hardware. Unless it's optimized like absolute garbage.
This is one of the reasons why Steam should really adopt some kind of standard for minimum specs, like X resolution, X quality, or something like that.
Because the min specs are defined by devs, one dev might think the min specs need to be able to run the game at 1080p, 60FPS, medium settings, while another dev will go "can you get to the title screen?".

Seems very reasonable for a current gen only game. If you don't have 16 GB RAM by now, I don't really know what you expected out of PC gaming in 2022. Same goes for the other min specs. Even the recommended seem quite reasonable, very mid-range stuff.

No SSD required?

Wasnt that supposed to be like one of the hard requirments for next-gen (or current-gen) PC games.

That's definitely possible, but lets say that the game is made in such a way where you need 10GB of RAM at lowest settings to have it working, and 16GB is enough to run on higher settings?

What do you put as your min spec then? The way that RAM modules are designed and sold, almost no one will have a system with a configuration that isn't a power of 2.

I have a RTX 3050 Ti Laptop now so compatibility isn't a concern but I have to ask what do these specs mean for getting this thing running on the Steam Deck? Is it good news or bad news?

The Series S is a lot more powerful than 8GB RAM (with Windows overhead) and an aging entry level GPU from 5 years ago.
Series S doesn't even have 8GB available for games and it's shared on top of that. Starting with PS4/XO Consoles have huge overheads for their nice goodies like recording footage in the background.

The Steam Deck is running games at 800p IIRC. These specs are probably targeting 1080p (and are probably overshooting the actual minimum specs to be on the safe side), odds are it'll be fine. Won't know until it comes out tho obviously.

The Series S is a lot more powerful than 8GB RAM (with Windows overhead and the main part of Series S's RAM is several times faster than a typical DDR4 stick) and an aging entry level GPU from 5 years ago.

It has 7.5gb shared between graphics and simulation. The gpu it has is probably more powerful in practice than the 1060 but not by a lot unless you're using ray tracing - which this game obviously does not require since it runs on an rx5700 and gtx 1070.

This is probably just going to be another example of conservative Min specs. Worse gpus than the 1070 will definitely run, even if they don't give a good experience at 1080p. If the game genuinely needs more than 8gb we will see thrashing and bad performance but I'm a little skeptical there too.

It's probably also a case of "who the hell even uses 8GB RAM and wants to play a 2023 current gen only triple A anyway" so they bump it up to 16GB min.

People will get it to work on lower ends, but it's great to see games pushing higher specs, as long as it's not because of bad optimisation.
