In the UK, No redundancies yet but its hit some of our biggest clients really hard which in turn will affect us and I imagine they'll then start letting people go.

Part of me is hoping I'd get made redundant as it'd be a nice cash injection and I could take a few months off.

Was due a 38% pay increase that was close to being finalized at the beginning of April... That won't be finalized now and I'll have to wait till this all blows over... Not been confirmed but I'm basing it the meetings I've been in and the general tone around recruitment and new hires and yeah.... I'll be waiting a bit longer

Manage a restaurant and until further notice I'm let go. We were a smaller spot with myself as the assistant and a GM above me. All serving staff and all kitchen staff aside from the head chef, one cook, and one server to take pick up orders, have been temporarily let go. My girlfriend is a neurophysiologist but spinal surgeries are considered elective so she's also been furloughed. It's likely going to be a tough half a year or so

My friend in WV lost his job because his place closed down for everything but takeout. I'm fearing my workplace will do the same.

Work IT for a school district. There was a confirmed case in my office but we're already being called back a week later. I work hourly so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I handed my notice in in December (been there 6 years), left Feb 28th with a view to taking a few weeks out then looking for a job. Yeeeeah, that hasn't panned out so well

Fuck sounds like me, left a horrible company took some time off then looking for a job and weeeellll....shit.

Account manager for a IT company that specialises in hospitality... my life is currently the "*chuckles* I'm in danger" meme as all of my customers lay off their staff and close their doors.

We've already taken a pay cut at 2 hours a day each and I have a feeling the company might not be long for this world in the coming weeks.

yup, both my wife any i are "furloughed" for the foreseeable future. im hoping that after four or so weeks, things will have cleared up enough for us to come back (this is around the time we have a seasonal shutdown, anyway, but ordinarily we'd still be working and getting paid through that...).

anyway, i immediately applied for and got emergency hired at a local grocery store as an overnight receiver/stocker, so im not as worried as i might have been. but its gonna be a tough couple weeks.

I'm self employed as a videographer/editor. So....not "laid off" per se. But since all my clients are shutting down or tightening their belts, I might be in spirit.

And since I don't have a record of being "fired" or "laid off", that means no unemployment benefits. Yay...

My best friend just got told he might get laid off. Luckily where pretty safe economically but even then it's gonna suck.

My wife works for a company that was already one or two bad quarters away from insolvency. She's worried.

Just got laid off from one job as they shutdown for a month. Other job is still going guess because it's city. Problem is won't get EI since I'm still working a job even though I rely on both to make ends meet

I'm a temp. My position will be up in the first week of april.

Don't need to explain to anyone in this thread the massive uphill battle to try to find a new job

My company hasn't laid anyone off yet but did send out "Voluntary Separation" agreements for anyone interested in taking a week pay per year they've worked there.

I've had my hours reduced to 30 hours a week. I still count myself as very lucky considering 75% of our team was furloughed until things get better.

It was a somber day at the office today, and considering Newsom is talking about keeping schools closed until 2021, I could see myself being out soon as well.

Whoever has been eating that exotic meat cause you're too stupid to try viagra, I hope it was worth it.

I work retail, had my hours cut from about 25ish down to 13 or so. With a high chance that our store will close down for some time soon enough. Other stores like Ulta and Kohls have closed down next to us.

Sounds like their will be rounds of furloughs where I work. I'm a co-op in my final semester of college, and I was supposed to be hired full time after I graduate.

Now I have no idea what is happening.

I work in healthcare and changes in priorities have decimated the volume of our work. We went from extremely high volumes two days ago with unlimited overtime and essential shift bonuses to no work, zero assigned employees(people who have no assigned hours or benefits)told they aren't needed, no OT for anyone. I seriously doubt I'll have a job in a month.

My company has yet to terminate anybody, but there have certainly been talks at the executive level on what to do going forward. Whether that is letting contractors go, reducing low performers, or whatever else...its being talked about.

If/when anything happens it will likely be the week of the 30th.

What's the difference between "laid off" and "let go" per this survey? 9% and 2%...

From an HR/company standpoint, laid off means that the person could potentially be brought back in the future. Let go means that ties are cut and the person is done working there.

To the person losing their job, there is not much of a difference.

Not laid off (or at least, not yet), but I work in local government and my position is considered non-essential, so I'm not allowed to work from home (although, funnily enough, after telling me to log off on Tuesday, they talked to me today and said, "Actually, you can do some more work, but only for today, then don't get on again."). Currently unsure whether I will be given disaster pay or not, but will hopefully find out for sure on Monday. If I don't get laid off, I'll potentially be sitting home getting unpaid for the next 3 weeks. The only saving grace is I do some data entry work on the side, and that doesn't seem to be slowing down, but it will affect my overall finances for sure.

I was in February. Not sure its entirely related, but we kept getting emails about how the company and industry were in deep trouble. As the newest one there, I'm wasn't too surprised.

Got a much better job 2 weeks ago (start on Monday), and they've been chugging along with my on-boarding and checking on me to make sure I'm ok, so hopefully that doesn't fall through...

I'm out of the industry now myself, but almost everyone I know in the restaurant industry was laid off immediately when states closed dine-in. Folks in multiple states across the country that I know are just sort of hoping shit works out and being supported by family or those around them. This is cooks, servers, bartenders and a few in management. Scary how quick it happened.

I work in a software company, and we were told that we're safe for three months. If things don't get better, especially in Europe where a good chunk of our business comes from, then layoffs will happen. We did just do a lot of hiring before this hit, and now there's a freeze. As bad as it sounds, I hope I'm at least in front of the new hires in terms of who they layoff

I'm hoping my job continues. I just started at at large company that is still going strong. I'm kind of waiting for them to announce that we're closing for several weeks but so far it has not happened yet. I've thankfully got some money saved up if things go rough for a few months but not sure what will happen if this goes on for a very long time.

My S/O lost all her hours, but I should be good for at least a while.

Pretty concerned what will happen in 3-6 months should things continue just like this.

Systems Admin in PA. I started panicking and getting everyone setup for remote work about 2 weeks ago. So luckily our small logistics company(about 30 employees) is still working fairly strong. My fiancee works for a pharmacy, so she is unfortunately forced to work at her office/lab. And our 4 year old is here stuck with me trying to keep her entertained/educated since daycare is closed until April 1st at least(probably longer).

For those wondering, the word of the day is "Bat" and she's been introduced to the Wizard of Oz. She loved it... so much she watched it 3 times.

WFH. Everyone else in my immediate family and friends are okay so far, incredibly lucky, but things might change if this thing rolls into the summer.

I'm not affected, but my mom is. She called me today freaking out about the possibility of her hours being cut due to elective surgeries being cancelled. (She is a nurse)

I won't get laid off, but if we close, after burning PTO and any administrative leave offered, I won't get paid. My friend and his wife were forced into rotational work weeks to decrease the number of people working at once, and they don't get paid the week they're off so their income was pretty much halved.

The vast majority of my company's customers are restaurants and hotels. I'm very worried. There's a grocery component, but they are too busy to be putting in new point of sale systems. I'm the controller, so hopefully I'm not in the first round or two of layoffs (furloughs, whatever). I should be able to industry hop, assuming anyone is hiring.

I still have a job and can work from home but the new PA mandate of closing all non life essential businesses might screw that up for me. Depends on how broad they make it.

I work surveillance at a casino. Currently we are being paid 2 full weeks while we're closed. But after that, no pay. Only good thing is I'm still employed afterwards because were always needed on property at all times but my hours were cut in half.

Area manager for a restaurant chain... operations have been suspended for two week at least.

Worse yet this company is saying they are not sure sure if they will allow their employee's to use vacation time (including myself).
