Thinking of getting it on the steam sale just have a few questions.

1. Does it offer a lot of replay value?

2. Is it a good PC port? I have a Ryzen 2600X, 16gb Ram, GTX 1070.

3. Any DRM aside from Uplay? Can it be played offline?

4. Should I get just the game or is the dlc worth it as well?

5. Should I play as male or female for a better story?

Thanks :)

I have 150 hours in this game and the Platinum tropphy.

1. It's not really a replay game, you could I guess but it will take you well over a 100 hours to finish everything in the game and it's DLC.

2. Didn't play on PC.

3. See above.

4. The base game offers a load of content and is fine by itself. The Atlantis DLC is fucking awesome and I highly recommend it as it has some of the coolest areas in the entire game. The first DLC is just more of the same but written by a different team and it shows.

5. Kassandra is life.

Im sure the story gets going but the recruiting stuff for your ship is half baked, AND some Nemesis system shit but half baked, AND its still mostly just clearing camps or whatever of bandits, but this time some guy gets pissed off and chases you and youre suppose to care about THAT guy as an objective on top of the 50 things you need to do on the map to unlock the next story segment because you either have to or it wants you to level more than what the main story gave you. Which is dumb, either make side stuff optional or make it part of the main story path!

I liked the region, the graphics/aesthetics/historical accuracy, the cities and world layout and stuff and Kassandra, but it seemed kind of dull and by the numbers as far as game design goes. Stuck in the past (ironically enough). Found Origins to be a much more focused and interesting story even if it has some of the same flaws, its critical path makes up for it and Bayek and Egypt > Kassandra and Greece.

also, you do some, well, assassinating in that game. Odyssey just feels like Greek Warrior Simulator.

The game is amazing. Play as Kassandra.

Don't even worry about "replay value" because you can spend 100+ hours on the game and not be close to 100% completion.

So much side content I'm having a hard time finishing the game. I really need to focus on the main quest.

i love Ancient Greece stuff so this game is right up my alley

My overall opinion is that it is a fantastic game but too big and bloated. There is such a thing as an open world that is too big with too much to do and this is it. They need to scale down for the next AC.
That said the overall presentation and gameplay are worth it if you love open world exploration games.

Odyssey is my favorite AC, and I liked it better than Origins which is similar in gameplay/structure to Odyssey. I really didn't like the main story in Origins all that much, whereas Odyssey kept me hooked.

It's not worth buying the boosters, just make sure to do side content or use cheats since you'll be on PC if you feel you aren't leveling enough. Just know that enemies level with you so leveling up super high won't help.

Play as Kassandra. Well voice acted. Very good game. I'm not a huge open world guy but the core loop is addictive. It's repetitive but stays fun.

It's not an Assassin's Creed game. It's a Witcher 3 knock off. Which is great if you like Witcher 3 and horrible if you want an Assassin's Creed game.

Has anyone actually finished the game as Alexis, or people are recommending Kassandra just because? I haven't played the game yet so I have no horse in this race, just curious to know what makes Kassandra so much better. What has poor Alexis done to be overlooked like this?

The script is identical and there are no differences in quests. Some quests fit Kassandra better, others fit Alexios better.
The only difference is the delivery. Kassandra is much more sarcastic while Alexios is much goofier.

Kassandra definitely gives the better first impression and one might think that Alexios is straight up poorly acted but after a couple of I started really liking him. He's certainly got a very unique voice and delivery... not like anything else I heard in a videogame lol.

He's actually far more popular with the players according to ubisoft IIRC so people just picking Kassandra is kind of an era-thing.

Well. It's on my GOTY voting list. It's a fantastic game. Don't bother thinking about replayability, there are DLC, a long main story, side quests, daily quests, a huge map to explore, both on the surface and below, etc, this is a game that simply don't want you to ever stop playing. I loved Origins but Odyssey is better, and Bayek was great but Kassandra is even better.

I can't speak about how well the PC version runs as I just bought it a few days ago from EGS but I had about 60 hours with the game on the Pro.

I really enjoyed my time with the game and like how each island or land mass has their own plot. Islands especially because they all feel like self contained games where you aim to complete everything or move on after you finish the main stories on each island.

The game hinges a lot on whether you like the gameplay loop. If you want to bulldoze through the main story quests, you might find it impossible because your levels are too low. There are also some quests that are technically main story quests but not labelled as such. The main complaint I got from some players is that they felt like they were forced to do the side quests and side areas but for me it was really enjoyable to explore and complete quests, so much that I ignored the main quests half the time. I never felt like I had to buy the exp booster or any other boosters🤷‍♂️

It is also a gorgeous game. Played as the male option but I heard Kassandra is an even better option. They wrote the story with her in mind first.

I've just hit the 25 hour mark on this myself.

I'm enjoying the game a lot, but the repetitiveness of doing the same thing over and over is starting to ever so slightly seep in. I think I like it more than Origins though, mainly because the world is so god damn gorgeous and a pleasure to explore.

I'm playing as Alexios, I think he's great.

They both have indentical dialogue and cutscenes , difference is what gender do you prefer playing as and which voice acting sounds better. People staning for Kassandra is mainly this forums thing

I've heard a lot of people rave about it but in my multiple attempts to play it I simply can't bring myself to enjoy it. Only thing I can think of is fatigue from playing Origins maybe, but it just wasn't doing it for me.

Yeah that's how I feel as well, Origins was a great game but it's sooo boring to traverse compared to Odyssey which is like wandering in a paradise at times. I especially love the under water life in Odyssey, it's something almost all other games just forget and here it's like a whole world underneath the water surface.

I'm actually the opposite. I put 150h into origins and only 50 into odyssey. Origins deserts and negative space served as fantastic contrast to more lively towns and cities. It actually felt like going on a journey, it felt impactful arriving to small pockets of communities.
Odyssey on the other hand most of the environments and areas just blur since it never feels distinctive enough due to how much shit they throw at you every 15 seconds

As anything else in era theres no consensus

Personally i think its a cool and enjoyable game if you dont burn out yourself doing pointless sidequests. The level gating was always exaggerated and you dont need to buy mtx to progress. Legacy DLC is meh but Atlantis DLC is cool

I don't recommend either Origins or Odyssey. Enormous bloated games that are painfully repetitive with poor writing and stories too.

It's boring as hell, at least the initial part. The story completely failed to captivate me and I had to drop the game after ~5 hours. Same as with AC:Origins. (And I personally love sprawling worlds, played hundreds of hours of Witcher 3, Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Enderal, and loved those games a lot, to give some examples. It's just that I also need some sort of a decent story to carry me through, and Origins and Odyssey completely failed in that regard, same as e.g. Skyrim).

It's just... sand. Like everywhere! But I think we just have to agree to disagree on this. ;)

I just started Syndicate as it's on my hard drive, it's quite entertaining. I'll probably pick up Odyssey while it's on sale to play later.

Your time would be better spent playing good games. AC Odyssey is a bloated mess. If you just want to pass time with large amounts of mediocrity, sure... go for it. I lasted 10 hours before I couldn't take any more. (I finished Origins and liked it).

I had a lot of fun with my time with it (even cleared out every lil POI icon), but I dropped the game after 100 hours and felt satisfied enough not to go back despite not finishing the story.

and Odyssey is a ton of poorly textured mountains in between. It's kind of pick your poison.
Odyssey is also this:

And this!

I guess it might be because I live where it's either snow and ice everywhere 8 months a year or dark and depressing everywhere like in Death Stranding. Odyssey's colorful and vegetated environment with blue water and underwater life just goes straight into my heart! ❤

Kassandra is amazing and the game is great, but it's to big and not as sophisticated as Origins, when it comes to worldbuilding.
Odyssey reuses assets too often (caves look always the same for example), it all looks samey after a while and Athens isn't as epic as i hoped it would be.

Loved the loot and the RPG aspect of the game, working out your best build and trying out different armors and weapons, or upgrade your ship etc.., is all superfun and well implemented, also because the economy is well balanced (you always need money for something). You can make look Kassandra as you like (armor and weapondesign are varied and topnotch) and make powerful builds by upgrading and combine the right things.

The combat is good, but not the best. Abilities are very fun and powerful, but the combat relies too much on those in the sense that normal attacks are only here to fill up your yellow bars and than unleash OP abilities like hero strike again and again. Also there are no shields. Ulimately i enjoyed the raw simplicity of Origins' combat a bit more. I really enjoyed the fight against the mythical beast though, like the minotaur for instance. Well done!

The writing can be solid and is often pretty funny, thanks to some good characters and the great main protagonist. Questdesign is not a strong point of the game, since it is the typical Ubisoft thing. Don't expect big surprises on that front.

Odyssey is a fun game, but it's too big and the worldbuilding isn't that what i hoped for after playing the fantastic world of Origins. The RPG elements are ace in Odyssey!

It's very large - almost too large. That's my only gripe with it. Everything else is pretty great. The Atlantis DLC is huge too.... on par with The Wither 3's Blood and Wine DLC in size and scope.

1. It has a fuckton of content. If you ever finish it, you will likely take a long break before you even think of going back.

2. It's a solid port. You should be fine.

3. Not sure. Never really thought about it.

4. The DLC is not bad, so you might as well get it.

5. The female, no question. She's one of the best things about the game. The dude is just another dude.

plus (light spoilers about odyssey)
the one you dont pick ends up being "the villain" and alexios is so goofy its almost unintentionally hilarious seeing him as the big bad guy

1. It's your standard AC fare, where there's very little replay value but the game world is immense, maybe too much. If you decide to complete every single ? it will easily take you 100h minimum.

4. The base game is so filled to the brim with stuff that I never really purchased the DLCs, I had my fill. (same with Origins when it came out)

5. Kassandra for sure.

Thinking of getting it on the steam sale just have a few questions.

1. Does it offer a lot of replay value?
It's very big. If you really want to spend a lot of time playing it, you can disable icons and just discover everything by yourself. It would take months!

2. Is it a good PC port? I have a Ryzen 2600X, 16gb Ram, GTX 1070.
I have it for PS4, so I don't know.

3. Any DRM aside from Uplay? Can it be played offline?
Yes. It can be played offline. Uplay is not intrusive at all in this game.

4. Should I get just the game or is the dlc worth it as well?
Get the Gold version. I impulse-bought the standard version without realizing the gold version was also on sale, and it's worth. You get the two DLC (which are like 20 dlls each plus two remaster games for only $10 more)

5. Should I play as male or female for a better story?
I think Female is better. Kassandra is awesome and a lot of quests in the story seem to fit more playing with her.[/QUOTE]

Origins is better play it first. If you really really like what you experienced in origins and want more of the same but willing to deal with a lesser game than go for odyssey.

Far better than Origins, offers a lot of cool side content, locations and characters. I wouldn't jump in for the DLC already though since the game is enormous and at least the story of the DLCs hasn't done anything for me.

I enjoyed playing as Alexios, but almost everyone hypes Kassandra up to the max so this might be a safe choice.

The perfect game for Christmas where you have loads of time to play. You walk through Greece like a demi God and your only real enemy is the amount of time you don't have to play other games.

I've got about 40 hours in the game currently and I love Kassandra as a character. I honestly dropped origins pretty quickly, but I'm loving this one a lot since it's a Witcher 3 lite game.
