I was not prepared to love Suicide Squad as much as I did. DC should've just let Gunn take over all their movies.

So WB gets James Gunn to do a DC comicbook movie and the best idea they could come up with was doing another Suicide Squad movie lol. Cool. I hope its a good replacement for the first one.

Cant wait for Flashpoint

Start LOST Season 4 or Gunn's Suicide Squad 2: The Suicide Squad?

The last two just came out this year - the had the original, then a two-parter for the Kyoto arc years ago, and then just recently they made a couple adaptations of the last arc. Not sure why they made more after so long, but... they did.

Wasn't the Kenshin guy revealed to be a piece of shit?

Yeah, he's a straight-up pedophile. And the Kenshin sequel series (that he's drawing/writing) is still being published by Shonen Jump in Japan, if you want to know how low their standards are.

Yeah, he's a piece of shit and the "punishment" he got could barely be classified as a "slap on the wrist".

Basically a high budget Troma film. A bit less exploitative, but still felt delightfully Troma tinged.

I think we can all agree that Marvel just wasted Idris Elba in the MCU. It was great to see him shine in The Suicide Squad.

I legit had to check his Wikipedia entry to remind myself what he played in the MCU. It's always sad when a big budget movie lands an awesome actor and doesn't give him anything notable to do. That happens a lot with Elba whether it's Fast and Furious, Star Trek, or the MCU.

Same lol. I remember him in his Fast & Furious and Pacific Rim roles, though.
Pacific Rim is a bit of a guilty pleasure, so that one I remembered.
I wish that in Fast and Furious they gave him more to do. They hire an awesome actor and basically just have him play a 2-d mustache twirling villain that anyone could do? I don't get it.

In comics news - Superman Red and Blue has been a joy. I think that the character lends itself well to anthologies of short stories.
Has anyone been reading the Wonder Woman black and gold? I'll probably dive into that one once I'm caught up on Superman.

I feel like Elba is one of those actors that's way more popular in England because of Luther.

I was expecting the Locke & Key omnibus to be kinda shit, since IDW doesn't typically do these big hardcovers. but it's actually very nicely put together! spine needed a bit of stretching to really open, but now that it is, it folds out very nicely. nothing fancy -- it still has thin paper, not much in terms of bonus material, but it's got a very nice design in general and I'm very happy with it. think I'll wait to give it a read until October, tho.

I still have the slipcase with all the hardcovers, which is plenty adequate. I think I'm past the days where I upgrade to a new edition unless it's something exceptional.

There were six. Unless you mean the deluxe editions.
Really?
I have these of which there are three.

Yeah, those are the deluxe books, which I think have two of the original trades each. I have the six original hardcovers and the slipcase.

I feel like I'm due for a re-read soon, especially because I've been on a horror comic kick lately.
Yeah me too.
Caught up on the Nice House on the Lake. Now I am hungry for more.

He was pretty iconic as Stringer Bell in The Wire. He was one of those guys you never knew wasn't American for a few years in the early-mid 00's.

It's like a million years old now, but was the Soul Eater manga any good? I like the art.

Elba was definitely the second best part of Suicide Squad (after Harley of course). He was a lot of fun. As an American I will always associate him with Stringer Bell or Charles from The Office as those were the first two things I saw him in.

I also had no idea he was from the UK at first. The Wire was mindblowing between him and McNulty.

I couldn't get past the first volume because of all of the fanservice elements. But the art was really gorgeous. I may just be a prude.

I think Elba has a hard time judging what roles are good. He is in so many mediocre films, that I almost think he just reads the concept of the thing and not the script. He is an actor I love to watch, but don't consider his involvement a seal of quality.

Well yeah the cast are like 14 so if it's got fanservice art of them then I really don't want to read it.

A mountain in the US
No no no, the creator of Rurouni Kenshin got arrested a few years back for possession of child porn.
That makes it sound like he served time. He got a slap on the wrist and went back to making manga for Jump where they continually publish known pedos like him and Shimabukuro. People can change, but these guys are disgusting and were published as soon as possible following their arrests.
especially because I've been on a horror comic kick lately.
Why didn't you tell me? What have you been reading?
