Chick-fil-A has been banned from opening a store in San Antonio International Airport because of its "legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior."
The San Antonio City Council on Thursday approved a new concessions agreement at the city's airport that will bring new food chains to one of its terminals.

But City Councilman Roberto Trevino made a motion regarding the deal, amending it so that it did not include a planned Chick-fil-A eatery. Trevino's amendment was approved 6-4 by the council.

"With this decision, the City Council reaffirmed the work our city has done to become a champion of equality and inclusion. San Antonio is a city full of compassion, and we do not have room in our public facilities for a business with a legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior," Trevino said.

The decision comes a day after Think Progress reported on Chick-fil-A's newly-released 2017 tax filings, which show that the Chick-fil-A Foundation gave more than $1.8 million to three organizations with a record of anti-LGBTQ discrimination, an increase from the prior year.

Fuck 'em. Sell me shitty, overpriced chicken if old.

Quality has been dropping at that place lately. It doesn't taste as good even though I haven't had any in a long time. Yeah theyll be fine. No big loss here.

I had no idea those 3 organizations were so anti-LGBT. The Salvation Army?? Shit. I thought they just donated clothes and stuff to people in need.

I meant to post this in the thread where it stated that CFA continues to donate to Anti-LGBT causes. I had thought about eating there a week ago and then saw CFA still donates to very questionable organizations so naw ain't going there. Although I picked up a fried chicken dinner at Publix recently, who has a similar stance on the issue sadly. The chicken was solid, but realized I could have gotten PDQ or Zaxby's instead. I had forgotten about Publix's stances when I picked up dinner there.
Honestly I hope the SA closure sends a message to CFA saying "Hey, you continuing to support hate groups is unacceptable. We ain't condoning this garbage!" It will likely not change anything at CFA corporate sadly but hopefully more airports and malls follow suit.

For the record I'm speaking as a Christian that believes that marriage should be with whoever you love the most (man and women) and I frankly don't believe that message in the bible where marriage has to be between man and woman.

They have a history of not letting homeless trans people into their shelters unless they stay with the wrong gender, absolutely putting the lives of trans women at risk, and in at least one instance a woman turned away by them in the past froze to death on the streets.

After all this time I have no idea what is so great about Chick-fil-A. It's standard fast food fare. Their chicken sandwiches are no better than what you can get at almost any other fast food joint.

Love how they tried to act like they weren't going to do this anymore but then just kept doing it. They don't care. A company like that deserves to lose business.

I think I can avoid Chic Fil A.

I've maybe eaten there ten times in my life. Unless it's the only viable option near me for decent food, I'll make sure to eat elsewhere.
