can't wait for modders to fix this. Third person makes a huge difference for me
People realize that there are still cutscenes right? Like this is still an open world RPG with fully animated cutscenes.
I imagine like the camera in god of war it was an artistic choice they made midway through development so that we never leave the perspective of the character, and not a result of dev time.
Yea man just like mirror's edge, so much more fun in third person.can't wait for modders to fix this. Third person makes a huge difference for me
Honestly, why try selling us on how in-depth the character creator is when it's essentially pointless.
So if you can't ever see who you're playing as then why is there character customisation?
I'll laugh my ass off if this is one of those fist-person perspective games that doesn't have a single mirror in its world.
I really dislike the narrative ITT that this is easier to animate in first person than in third person......like, that's really not how animation works. 😐
It's hard work regardless.
Yea man just like mirror's edge, so much more fun in third person.
FPP only and mirrors sound pretty sick actually.
That's my first thought. Now you don't need to animate so much stuff.they should just acknowledge that it'd be too much time, work, and money to do third person scenes instead of trying to play it off as ~for the immersion~
like it's fine to acknowledge you don't have infinite resources!
Not a dealbreaker but definitely disappointing. Really does defeat the purpose of customizing your character.
This is honestly probably it. Especially considering the character customization and stuff
Yeah,I really dislike the narrative ITT that this is easier to animate in first person than in third person......like, that's really not how animation works. 😐
Yeah, exactly. There's a reason in games like FFXIV the MC doesnt do anything but nod and gesture. It's not easier inherently but they no longer have to worry about all the different permutations of having a character creator.
Also the fact that this seems like a decision that was made very late into development which makes it seem more of a time constraint than artistic vision
Why?It's not easier inherently but they no longer have to worry about all the different permutations of having a character creator.
yep lol.they should just acknowledge that it'd be too much time, work, and money to do third person scenes instead of trying to play it off as ~for the immersion~
like it's fine to acknowledge you don't have infinite resources!
Didn't they just show third-person cutscenes at E3?
Or is that part not actually in the game?
They don't have to worry about certain permutations, like V's facial expressions. But they still have a lot of things to worry about to make it all look polished and believable. It's not easier inherently but they no longer have to worry about all the different permutations of having a character creator.
Literally none of the footage they've shown since that original demo were first person cutscenes. I very much doubt this was a late decision. Something like this isn't something you can even add late. You need to do a lot of planning and work to make something like this work. You think they shot every mocap sessions thinking some of the cutscenes would be third person? Also the fact that this seems like a decision that was made very late into development which makes it seem more of a time constraint than artistic vision
Exactly.
They showed a very long 3rd person cutscene at E3 2019.E3 2018 yes and like they said in the video, it's work in progress and not everything showed in the E3 2018 demo will appear in the final game.
