they should just acknowledge that it'd be too much time, work, and money to do third person scenes instead of trying to play it off as ~for the immersion~

like it's fine to acknowledge you don't have infinite resources!

can't wait for modders to fix this. Third person makes a huge difference for me

Freecams are usually the first mod created, followed by nude mods. I'm sure it'll be done...

The nude mods for Witcher3 are the favorite mods of Pawel Sasko (lead quest designer on CP2077, of bloody baron and dead man's party (HoS wedding) fame in W3 ) by the way ;)

Honestly, why try selling us on how in-depth the character creator is when it's essentially pointless.

Wait then wtf is the point of letting me create a character then?

This is the first time since this game was announced that I am taking a step back from it. I have been all in since Day 1, but taking the 3rd person scenes out is a big fucking deal for me.

So much for making a inclusive character creator, when you cant even see you character not even in cutscenes now.

The more they show the less hype i get. Show some city explorarion without shooting anything and i might start getting my hype back.

Will definitely wait for a PS5 version.

Disappointed... cutscenes with FPS view is less immersive than cutscenes with TPS view for me

People realize that there are still cutscenes right? Like this is still an open world RPG with fully animated cutscenes.

I imagine like the camera in god of war it was an artistic choice they made midway through development so that we never leave the perspective of the character, and not a result of dev time.

Yes but now they don't have to take into account and model all the different facial animations for the character and maybe even some of the clothing. It definitely simplifies things for them.

I really dislike the narrative ITT that this is easier to animate in first person than in third person......like, that's really not how animation works. 😐

It's hard work regardless.

Yea man just like mirror's edge, so much more fun in third person.

Oh no, that really sucks.

I'm one of those that really loves the idea of the game being first person for immersion, but I really wished cut scenes would be 3rd person to look at my character, like in Deus Ex.

It's not easier inherently but they no longer have to worry about all the different permutations of having a character creator.

Also the fact that this seems like a decision that was made very late into development which makes it seem more of a time constraint than artistic vision

probably due to the time needed to animate all those cutscenes(and facial animations). I'm surprised they're not doing the shot-reverse shot for conversations like in most WRPGs.

Not a dealbreaker but definitely disappointing. Really does defeat the purpose of customizing your character.

I cannot agree more.

I wonder what the reason for this is though, I wouldn't think it was down to performance issues/reasons?

There has been a couple of things leaking (announced) recently about this game that are sort of going back on what was previously announced or implied would be in the game.

This is honestly probably it. Especially considering the character customization and stuff

Is character customization still in the game fully?

Style & self expression are important Cyberpunk themes, plus I was looking forward to cultivating those parts of my character's identity. Bummer.

Hey remember all those posts telling us that we will see our character plenty of times in cutscenes when it was announced that there was no TPP?

Yeah, exactly. There's a reason in games like FFXIV the MC doesnt do anything but nod and gesture.

Didn't they just show third-person cutscenes at E3?

Or is that part not actually in the game?

Its like, they let you create ur character, then they have cloths and body modifications to style your character, but all u gonna see are arms and feet :D

Why?

The animation systems take care of that. They showed off their cutscene animation tools for Witcher 3. They are extremely flexible and allow very easy animation retargetting.

i personally hate games that swap from 1st person to 3rd for cinematics, unless there's a whole lot going on with the protag, like the new wolfenstein games for example

fine in my book

To be honest they may as well ditch the character creator then.
Not much point in it anymore.

I wouldn't be shocked if they pull a reverse GTA 5 and include a third person mode a year later bundled with expansions for next gen systems.

"Immersion"...because I won't be immersed in the game when i don't see my character in cutscenes the way I have customized them? If anything seeing your character in cutscenes look the way you customized would be more immersive. I don't need gameplay to have third person but this sucks.

To everyone saying that FP is the best choice - please name one game that has decent 1st Person cutscenes. Not gameplay, but cutscenes.

The cinematography of the demos seen so far were stellar. They were incredible, and are much better at telling an engaging narrative than a 1st Person camera ever could.

If I'm wrong please do make me eat my words, but I've never played a game with 1st Person cutscenes, and if I have I've certainly never enjoyed it.

They don't have to worry about certain permutations, like V's facial expressions. But they still have a lot of things to worry about to make it all look polished and believable.

Literally none of the footage they've shown since that original demo were first person cutscenes. I very much doubt this was a late decision. Something like this isn't something you can even add late. You need to do a lot of planning and work to make something like this work. You think they shot every mocap sessions thinking some of the cutscenes would be third person?

Yeah,

Animating in first person is an art form in of itself.
Exactly.

I'm fine with FPP gameplay but was excited for the TPP cutscenes. Bit disappointed they changed that tbh. But I'll get over it.

Dollars to donuts the ps5 version will have 3rd person in some capacity, even if just in cut scenes. Ala reverse of what rockstar did with GTA. Next gen systems are backwards compatible, they need a way to push double dip and/or full priced sales. Otherwise, why not just buy a PS4 copy for $40. Also it'll probably have all the dlc/future dlc

I'll never understand the "I don't like 3rd person cutscenes because it breaks immersion" crowd. Really? You no longer feel immersed because you see the character when scenes are playing out?

Are we even going to see the different clothes on our arms and legs in the cutscenes or are they just going to use a default costume?
