While I get the frustration, I think we need to address more the fact that Rondo is now coming west and the franchise is receiving a boost, while Smash is big and one of the big surprises are the Castle reps, there are people who don't actually care about Smash and being in smash doesn't really means to have a game for the switch comingAt LEAST include castlevania 3 if doing a collection the same day as the netflix show is the only objective. That's literally the game this show is adapting.
It's probably just the first and when they're all released they'll make an ultimate collection.Seriously I don't even care about the platform does no one else think this just isn't a very good collection?
Considering the way Konami is handling it, it would not be possible unless both Sony and Nintendo allows NES emulation on PS4 (it should be possible but..)
Supporting 4K on the remake would have probably been way harder to sell.
Capcom did it.
If you guys want to discuss the choice of platforms: make another thread. There's nothing to stop that. Mods just don't want it happening in here.
On Topic: Guess I'm finally picking up SoTN. I've been given enough shit about never playing (although tbf, I've never been big on the Castlevania games).

Licensing issues maybe? I'm sure PCE games on PSP/Vita had those issues resolved.
I'm with you. Just 2 games in a collection makes it very disappointing for me. I wanted so much more.Seriously I don't even care about the platform does no one else think this just isn't a very good collection?
Woah, there's no retail?!

So, I'm trying to come up with a reason how this release makes business sense for Konami:
Konami continues to make no sense at all.
- Castlevania and Richter Belmont get free advertising in Smash Bros, a massive multi-million selling franchise. This is huge for Castlevania as it is basically dead and has always been niche despite a small, loyal fanbase. The exposure in Smash would certainly help grow and revive the franchise.
- 2D and Metroidvania games sell a lot more on Switch. Thus, you make the this 'collection' of two games exclusive to a different platform.
- This is releasing the same day as the new season of the Netflix series to promote it, but it doesn't include Castlevania III, which the series is based on. In fact, Trevor Belmont, the protagonist of the Netflix series, doesn't appear in the two games in the collection at all.
This is a weaker collection than anyone was expecting based on the guesses we saw.Ok I got the bottom of the page but forgive me for quoting myself.

I would love to play those on bed, (you can, using streaming) but is good news, even if doesn't release on every platform !
Just trying to be a bit positive !
You do not need to go that far.Announcing this on the heels of the megaman collections which each had 4 games at minimum makes this collection look pretty weak, yeah.
According to the the OP the game should already be up for preorder.
Rondo of Blood's been released in the west like 3 times now.Ctrl+F "Switch" = 15 hits on the first page.
As usual it isn't enough to celebrate the release of 2 classic games, one of which wasn't released in the west originally. Everyone needs to wine about them not coming to a particular platform. I for one am thankful that Rondo of Blood gets to be played by millions of people who never got the chance. In my mind, it's the best Castlevania ever made.
PSP emulation could mean there's a functional emulator for the system on PS4. I doubt they'll do something with that, though it would represent bigger news than any particular game.

Embarrassing post.
Then why not port it to PC? PC and Switch is the way to go here. I hope this "double dip" Switch culture isn't a thing that's taking off.It releases same day that Season 2 of the animated show. It's a fast port to get some money.
The salt is gonna be unreal with the PS4 exclusivity, what the hell Konami. Richter in Smash and this would make sense but Noooo, just one platform is fine.
Grace Chen would never update PSN past midnight.According to the the OP the game should already be up for preorder.
Don't think it's very fair to blanket ban any discussion about how puzzling it is that it's an exclusive, especially when this directly ties not being on the same console as Smash Ultimate, where Richter Belmont is getting a starring role...
It's not "port begging" or even the usual "perfect for Switch" stuff. It's questioning a very silly business decision.
