lol yeah crazy. Supposedly the CBA doesn't allow for a greater fine for Wilson but uhhh.... if the NHL wanted bad pr, they certainly got it.

Correct. The maximum a player can be fined is $5000.

If they get suspended, they forfeit their salary (which gets donated to an NHLPA fund). For a player making the league minimum of $700k a year, that's roughly $8500 for a 1 game suspension, which I'm guessing is what the $5k number is probably based on.
