most of these are German Suplexes. Suplex is kinda a specific version. Like there are a million different types of suplexes.
I would guess that a lot of this was born out of the early 90s popularity of All Japan Pro Wrestling. Which was very suplex heavy. At least in America...All Japan became known for dangerous back drop suplexes. Which were back suplexes where the opponent landed more on there head or neck instead of their back. And this is also where German Suplexes were more prevalent. A German Suplex is pretty common nowadays. But in 90s it was mostly relegated to being a staple japanese wrestling move.
