I can fully understand why the game got the praise it did.
First few hours for me were a slog, I really didn't understand how it was fun or appealing at all. The world felt barren,m the story almost non-existent, but then... after a few more hours I suddenly found myself immersed in the various systems, the intuitive and intelligent physics and interactions, the sheer sweeping adventurous scale of the environment.
It really is a remarkable game.
BUT
It just doesn't set my world alight... the lack of traditional dungeons and the world being just a little too empty made it feel like more of a chore to navigate and explore than a reward.
I got the master sword, I completed most of the legendary beast things, I did a bunch of cool side quests, and I felt like I had my fill.
I'd really love to see them take all the great stuff about BotW and go to a more wide linear format next time with more traditional dungeons.
And the REAL issue for me:
Weapon degradation system is manageable, but I just don't find that fun. I want to discover unique loot that stays with me for the entire game, not loot I feel like I shouldn't use because it will eventually disappear. It just meant most of the time I was hording cool stuff instead of actually using it.
The master sword kind of helped this, but the system just wasn't for me.
