I won't lie. The small BR part looks better than I expected. Vehicular combat is great.

I remain skeptical but it looks alright so far.

6 maps for a beta?

That's actually quite a bit honestly. How many maps are there going to be at launch?

I just don't want to pay $60 dang dollars for MP only as I hate battle royal

They haven't confirmed the exact amount of maps for launch yet, but so far they've confirmed 10 maps (6 beta maps + 4 remakes) + Nuketown coming for free in November

Is this the usual thing where I can "pre-order" from Amazon and cancel immediately before getting charged and still get a beta key?

At the very least 10 Maps. We have 4 Remastered maps confirmed + 6 maps in beta.

Remastered Maps are:

  • Slums
  • Firing Range
  • Summit
  • Jungle

I've bought every Call of Duty at launch other than infinite war. Hopefully this is one of the good ones.

I thought they deconfirmed that at the bo4 reveal but I guess I heard wrong which is why I asked

I am aware of that I just thought I heard they werent doing duos for this I guess I heard wrong
That would have been really weird not to have duos or squad mode in BR since that's what I feel like is the most popular. No way I'd play BR in solo mode nowadays after playing it with group of friends.

Really hope this years COD recaptures some of the magic. Won't be there on day one due to how stale the series has become but I'll certainly keep an eye out for impressions especially for the BR mode.

Still looks pretty generic imo. Lets just hope they don't ruin what little unique artstyle there is left with another round of absurd and out of place looking cosmetics like BO3.

If you signed up for CoD Newsletters you should get two beta codes, one for you and one for a friend.

To someone completely new to CoD games, is there character customization in these games like cosmetics?

There's a little bit. In Black Ops III it was just swapping heads and bodies, most being retextures between a small handful of unique models for each specialist. And, of course, you had to get a bunch of those from loot boxes. There's also some weapon customization that BO4 seems to be going a little deeper into.

No campaign should mean more resources towards all the MP modes nice
Most people who buy COD games only mostly play it for the MP modes, COD Campaigns are trash tbh same short crap
