there were some positive test screening reactions a few months before that came out, but those weren't critics
Yah know, considering their track record, DC should maybe just focus on their women characters.

The first twitter reactions from preview events are always praising movies as masterpieces. It happened with the last star wars too, and after a week everyone had changed their tune. I wonder why people still pay attention to this honestly.
Lol, this. First impressions are usually pretty worthless. You gotta wait for that Rotten Tomatoes review embargo to lift.
Still, I'm pretty optimistic about this movie. The trailer looked fun.

The critics impressions for Rise of Skywalker were very mixed. Several people basically said that Star Wars fans would like the second half, which would be true for almost anything

It is Rated R after all. In one of the trailers, you can see that a hostage's face has been sliced off and is laying on the floor.

Okay, well. Maybe it's more about new characters? Shoot, Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor were complete jokes to regular non comic reading folks. They were able to flip that pretty well. Seems like the audience is primed, even at the risk of superhero burnout.
If you followed the reaction thread for TROS it was very clear that the critics had major issues with it
I'm a huge DC fan and was expecting this to get the complete opposite of the spectrum in terms of reactions. I'm glad it's getting good previews! I'm expecting 65-79 range for a metacritic score, which isn't terrible for this film.

I've only seen two trailers I think. I'm surprised in a good way, I haven't really been keeping up with the film so it being rated r is cool news.
DC has done better the last several films, but I'm conflicted on this because I really didn't like Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, she was an annoyance throughout. People praised Margot Robbie's performance in that film even if they didn't like it as a whole, so I don't know if it's just a me thing and I'm not going to like the character, or if it was just her handling in that film.

I think WB is warming up to the face that producing R Rated comic book movies gives them a distinct appeal the MCU can't provide.
