I have loved every Dragon Age game they put out but I just cannot get excited for this knowing it's going to 100% be full of shitty monetization and live service trash, y'know, hallmarks of all the classic RPGs.

I don't even care...Not to mention game is like 3+ years away.
Thanks Bioware for making me not give a shit about one of my favorite franchises.

Imagine getting saddled with that heap of shit while the team that made it moves on to a new project.

I honestly feel bad for Austin.

Iirc from Jason article, lots of their input (note that Austin have experience with Multiplayer GaaS with The Old Republic) for Anthem are ignored by Edmonton because they are seen as the more 'inferior' team.

And now they are left with shit to fix and manage.

It's fucked.

I don't know those people and I don't wish anyone ill, but it would be cool if Austin got to work on something new. TOR is the best game shipped under the Bioware name since ME2. (I also liked Inquisition, but I don't think that was Edmonton either.)

Inquisition is Edmonton, tho I believe Edmonton have multiple team (Dragon Age team is separate from Mass Effect/Anthem I think). I believe Jason article mentioned that Mark Darrah (Dragon Age executive producer) are taken off Dragon Age 4 development to help salvage Anthem clusterfuck development.

Honestly I wonder if Anthem would turn out better if it's handled by Austin from the start.

Maybe there will be a new set of novels that will detail some events between inquisition and 4.

They shouldn't tease anything, screw that. The game is so far away, why tease? Cool, we will get another short teaser...

It's not a tease, Dragon 4ge day on Dec 4th is a fan created day to share stuff as Mass Effect fans have N7 day. It's just that BioWare has decided to support it this year, it's not necessarily got anything to do with DA4, the 4 stands for the A in Age

They wrote it like that because of the date of the event. The community chose December 4th as Dragon Age day, as a reference to the series' initials (D4/DA). There is nothing coming, the game is at least 4 years away.

Spla2n would have been good and I will be fine with an Oc2path Traveler

The thing is, I always read the number as an abrupt additional word within a word, like "Dragon 4ge" ends up sounding like "Dragon Forge" and Thi4f becomes "Thi Fourf" (awful)

But Spla2n and Oct2path work flawlessly and work decently, respectively

Man, N7 day is this week and Bioware is not talking about it AT ALL. (at least not on their twitter accounts)

I was hoping we could get that Remaster/Collection announcement :(

It is kind of amazing how far Mass Effect has fallen as a franchise. At this point I just hope the franchise lives on in some good novels or something. Given how far off Dragon Age 4 is, there is no way we get another game before 2025.

Yea, I don't expect another ME game. And tbh, given Bioware's output this gen I'm not sure if I even want a new ME game from them atm.

Just give me ME Collection with all DLCs included, running at locked at 60fps and I'll be good.

Meh, BioWare is changed and people that made the classic DA and ME games are long gone. Not excited in the slightest. As much as it pains me to say it.

A community party huh? What, they're gonna hold a party for BioFan and Lady Ashe and whoever who lick their boots and none of the alienated fans that loved anything they did before ME3?
I have no excitement until they flat out say there's no inquisitor style point system.
I legitimately feel Inquisition from a game-play perspective is just way too ingrained in its cancelled MMO roots that I don't need more of what feels like busy work the game.
Mass Effect Andromeda has the same format as DAI and it completely avoided the "Power" idea. You could either go for the main quest which followed its own plot logic or you could do side-things whenver you liked. They learned that lesson (and yes, 60 or so from DAI worked on MEA too)

Dunno about "cancelled MMO" roots unless you just say it figuratively. If anything DA:I was originally way more like a regular AAA single player game, kind of a mix between Skyrim and Assassin's Creed based on that old pre-alpha demo they showed. I think it became more MMO-like as shit hit the fan, a lot of features were cut and they had to full-crunch it including people from the SWTOR staff - designers, level designers and more that just have a more "MMO" way of thinking.

It would be cool if they have some details for us.
Even if they did, the game is so far away that everything they say could change drastically or not even make it to the final release at all.

Remember when MEA did early updates like this and talked about exploring tons of different planets?

This is one of my most hotly-anticipated games despite, well, everything, because I love Inquisition and the overall story of Thedas and I replay these games every two years without fail.

That said, we know this game is at least two-and-a-half years away. At least. So I'd brace yourselves, everyone, for a long, long tail of "At BioWare, we're pushing ourselves to explore new vertical heights of gaming with choices that matter, unforgettable moments, and cutting-edge approaches to the future of the games industry. Also, here's a blink-and-you'll-miss it concept art of a mountain."

You forgot a visceral and dynamic experience.

I really hope DA4 goes back to the gameplay of DA2 on PC, it still plays the best of any of the Dragon Age games. They slaughtered the gameplay in DA3 it's just a brutally unfun game to play even though I really want to see the story.

This game isn't due out until after April 2022. I'm fine with confirming its existence but you can't actually show us anything in it ATM.

I'm still hopeful that the team is invested enough in living up to the potential of Dragon Age's legacy that they do it right. I'm not preordering or anything, you understand, but I want to give them a chance to create another slate of memorable characters and let me dive deeper into the world's lore.

DA4 is basically BioWare's Final Fantasy, one big RPG to make or break the studio. Unfortunately most of the core talent from the glory days are long gone and they have two recent strikes against them in the public mindshare. I don't envy the PR team's job of keeping fans invested and excited through the long development in the face of scrutiny and heavily documented internal struggles. As much as there's an appetite for info, people are wary of the wool being pulled over their eyes by marketing because it's happened before.

As an aside, it also sounds incredibly frustrating and dispiriting for the Austin team to be treated as inferior during Anthem's development only to be saddled with trying to salvage Edmonton's bomb post-release, while the ones responsible either leave the company or move on to DA4. I hope the situation at that studio isn't quite as dire or powerless as it seems from the outside.

DA:I Trespasser was fantastic.

I have seen this said a lot, but that DLC always felt like a real disappointment to me. The final moments were cool, but there was way too much emphasis on combat. The set up this interesting scenario of having to actually justify the continued existence of the inquisition, which could have been a lot of fun, kind of like the trial in ME2, and then you just sort of walk out of it for more combat. The ending provided a real interesting setup for the franchise, much better than the base game, but it always felt a little lackluster to me.

I really want DA4 to be good, and most importantly, to avoid all the burnout and worker anxiety that DAI and Anthem caused. I just really worry that actually are just going to make it "Anthem with dragons" which would just kill the game for me.

Who even cares about Dragon Age anymore? Seriously it's such a rundown franchise. Make something fresh.
