We won't know until launch. The people he revives get armor, but we didn't see it from someone else's perspective (to see armor number), just his.
yeah thought i rememeberd something like that.
We have Irish also btw with his Veteran trait. Wich says "provides armor, with additional bonuses from downed enemies"

Yea, I feel that there will be a lot of refinement to their abilities over time too in order to balance. So I am not too cramped on what they can do yet.

Exactly how I feel tbh. I think little things like the HUD changes really help cause the beta felt so barebones and sloppy especially compared to BFV. They NEED to get the performance to be better state across the board and also hopefully have DLSS support day 1.

I hope they let us change the color of the UI because those bright neon colors are just not doing it for me.

I really hope we can just completely turn off those top of the screen full width "critical alerts". Even the tweaked version is just too large and intrusive.

This is like basic UI 101. A giant bar suddenly appearing at the top of my screen tells me I'm in a cutscene or killcam, not gameplay. Period. Puzzlingly terrible design

also specialist balance is concerning…wall hacks looks OP and theres seemingly no counter like a radar jammer (emp nades dont seem adequate)

RE: This seems like Rao is the counter since he can hack other soldiers and in-world interactables. If I had to guess, his hacking will individually work like the tornado interference where your HUD goes spazzy and you can't use electronics.

It sounds like they're listening to the feedback and making appropriate changes to everything, and as expected, the Chicken Little reactions were overblown.

This is the type of deep dive I've been waiting on, that the beta didn't quite answer. Still not sure about the day 1 purchase but I'm glad they're starting to drop some big info now.

I mean they're trying to keep those pre orders up. Remains to be seen how busted the launch game may be. I'm sure they are working hard on it but I've been a part of multiple broken battlefield games on launch to know to expect the worst. BF1 and 5 were solid launches for me but I still remember how terrible BF4 was for me. I didn't really start enjoying that game until 6+months after launch and I built my pc with the intention of playing BF4 back then.

No one hate that enemy icons appear over soldiers within 10 meters?

I love hiding in plain sight and watching people sprint past. The beta bullshit wasn't that enemies are hard to spot it was that friendlies were hard to recognise? Everyone was jumping and shooting their own team whenever they popped out of the bushes. Partly because of the bullshit specialist system and also their poor colour choices for indicators.

I see they're addressing QOL issues, but core mechanics such as specialists and barren maps were half the complaints as well…stuff you can't really change. So, I ain't getting too hyped about this.

Hopefully it really does get an EA trial on release.

I have no idea how they continue to make the commo rose worse every iteration they make. I hate that their solution to cant see difference between Friend and Foe is to just add real bright 3D spotting its awful design but hey thats where we have been at for the last 3 games no surprise there goodbye trying to play a little sneaky, someone is just gunna spot you 100% of the time now. . And finally that wall hack character this just keeps getting worse and worse. Super glad portal will be around since that'll likely be the place to be to play an actual Battlefield title again. Not really interested in the Wish version of COD.

"we'll engage with the specialists controversy head on"

*proceeds to completely dodge all criticism of specialists and say that ACKTUALLY, the problem was Ping not being reliable*

Yep. I mean it was kind of clear that it was far too late for them to ever change course for the Specialist system but that response was just straight deflection. It's disappointing but I knew that they weren't going to be able to retool the entire game from the Beta.

Also the fact this game might launch without a map is absurd and hilarious.

Hated it battlefield V which actually had visibility problem, the idea it would come to a much cleaner game like 2042 both boggle my mind yet doesn't suprise me at all.

the only thing that bothers me is that the big map is probably not making it to launch? how is it such a heavy feature when it´s been a staple of every BF game since Codename Eagle :D

All of this sounds great. I just hope performance can be improved. I can run Battlefield V max settings, solid 60+ FPS. I could BARELY hold 60 at the lowest settings in 2042. Scoping in with a sniper also further cut my FPS in half.

It's pretty funny that they went with "all squares" for UI as a whole, so the commo rose is squares, and then the second tier rose does not work with squares, so just throw it as a bar at the bottom.

They had challenged that were get 10 headshot kills while on an objective in one life for BFV that were such BS. Hopefully that does not come back.
I think those will be back for masteries and rare cosmetics. What is shown here is basic gadget unlocks which I thought always had very straightforward mechanics (the points we could spend in BF5 to adapt weapon came from basic weapon usage not the crazy challenges).

I had one that was like 10 hipfire kills in a round with a shotgun that I had specced into slugs so I would have to respec it pretty much to get that cause the weapon customization was so wonky lol.

So glad to be back to BF3/4 style weapon customization.

Thank you OP for all the hard work on BF threads.

I'm cautiously optimistic about all the changes including buffing aim assist as I play with a controller on PC.

I wonder if it will be enough to counter side strafe that is too easy and powerful for keyboard users but not as viable to controllers.

Honestly this is my biggest issue with controller and k/m differences.

As low as aim assist was on the beta, I still did OK and wasn't bothered by it. But the side strafe dance frustrated me to no ends specially because by the last day of the beta I was seeing it all the time lol.

Still, super excited about the game and can't wait for release!

Bought the ultimate edition on Steam, I need a BF game in my life! Don't let me down Dice!

That new specialists video calmed my concerns a bit.

Loved the smart grenades for dealing with annoying helicopters.

Nice. I hope there's a better sense of both polish and immersion thanks to these changes. The UI in particular during the beta was already kinda constantly making me confused about what was going on and putting me out of the action mentally, which is a problem I've not really had in previous Battlefield games -- the changes they're implementing look really sensible.

Also had plenty of glitches but also expected that those would get tidied up... Went into the beta knowing that it was an old build so didn't really shock or upset me to run into stuff like that.

made changes to the UI so that when you're inside of 10m, an icon is now present above the heads of enemy soldiers, provided they wouldn't be otherwise occluded by any terrain, or map objects.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is this not exactly what they added in a late BFV patch and it wound up being so universally hated by the community that they ended up reverting it? Why are they doing this again?

Those grenades likely going to be great to push the little birds higher into the sky where they are more vulnerable to normal AA, looks like a top tier gadget overall with the scatter and EMP options on top of it.

Is there gonna be another beta then? The way they say "now that all ten specialists are on the cards let us know what you think" kind of sounds like we're to expect a hands on thats actually more representative of the game before launch

Game is less then a month away. I don't see them doing another beta, but I'd welcome one, I've been missing it since they shut it down.

The changes for team/squad play are nice and on the right track but the sheer disruption caused by the specialist system cannot be undone so easily. It will probably still feel like every man for himself with some extra bonuses here and there.

Big map has caused issues before no, wasn't it another BF game that had really bad lag at launch whenever it was pulled up? So they had to fix it pretty quickly?

Wanted some more changes to specialists but other than that, sounds like they're pretty thoroughly responding to most of the problems I had. Very much appreciate the detailed screens and videos for the improvements in action.

They said that you would be spotted only if you're not occluded from sight.

We will se how it works out. If it's well implemented you shouldn't have an icon if you're hiding behind something.

It's harder to say if it's going to work on things like bushes as you can be only partially visible.

I also don't like every single friendly having an icon in front of me. This will clutter the screen too much.

This is obviously a band aid to a problem they haven't figured out yet.

Don´t remember such a backlash, enemy visibility has been an issue with all these super realistic looking games recently as, not suprisingly, camouflaged soldiers in bushes are really hard to see :D i do remember BFV making enemies "glow" in the dark and other attempted fixes.

But i welcome all red lights and tags above enemies, it´s supposed to be a fun videogame, not a mil-sim.

Yeah thats a shame. There's a lot I like here but I'm really not feeling the specialist system with the 4 we were provided alone, and the some of the ui issues like enemy recognition and the pinging as it was really brought it down for me quite a bit.

I'm likely to get it eventually but I think I'm just gonna try it on a month of the ea sub first if and when it hits the base subscription.

Im happy to see some of these changes. Still a lot of work to do imo. But solid start.

It will be interesting to see once the game releases, the data of the specialists and their popularity from most to least used.

Very good point.

I mean I appreciate the skill some of these players have with copters but it's not so fun when your team doesn't have good pilots and you're getting battered.

And the enemy pilots are smart enough to keep low out of the way of AA lock on.

Cant wait to see these in action.
