The Sphinx's head is suspiciously small compared to its body, laughably so. So the idea that it once had a larger, more proportionate head that was carved down to it's current one is plausible.

That says nothing to the timeline of its construction however.

Religious sites are often built on top of previous ones, so it's very likely that the great pyramids and the sphinx and many others were preceded by other structures.

The « tomb of Osiris » they found close to them is also very strange and you won't find any photos of the actual tomb with the four pillars and it's carvings, which is suspected to not look like the usual Egyptian art, so possibly quite older. Why the authorities never showed it? Who knows. The place is deep underground and was all flooded before it was found.
