i always wonder why the progressive kind of people says religion in general is kind of bad but get up in arms when you criticize islam? no, criticizing islam is not preaching hatred
Firstly, it is not appropriate to "protest" at a memorial for children, full stop. I cannot believe that needs explanation.

Secondly, the man's religion has no bearing on the shooting as there was no evidence that it was religiously motivated. In fact, the general consensus is that the shooter was mentally ill and that contributed heavily to the shooting.

Thirdly, the man "protesting" has been arrested prior for spreading hate speech, so he's obviously not doing this to "inform" people about Islam.

Lastly, how many Muslims have you met in your time on this planet practice the absolute worst representation of Islam? Or are you just watching news stories from overseas and making a sweeping generalization about the religion?

Fun fact, the Bible is pretty violent.

Deuteronomy 22, 13-21
13 If a man takes a wife and, after sleeping with her, dislikes her 14 and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, "I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity," 15 then the young woman's father and mother shall bring to the town elders at the gate proof that she was a virgin. 16 Her father will say to the elders, "I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her. 17 Now he has slandered her and said, 'I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.' But here is the proof of my daughter's virginity." Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, 18 and the elders shall take the man and punish him. 19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the young woman's father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.

20 If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the young woman's virginity can be found, 21 she shall be brought to the door of her father's house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father's house. You must purge the evil from among you.

Go home and be a family man.

EDIT: fucking hell, banned again.

You can state that, but you would still be wrong. Words are not violence. They may be offensive and hateful and make people very angry or hurt, but they are not violence.

I know this is in the context of pushing somebody into a shallow fountain, which barely qualifies as violence at all. Just responding to this particular part of your post.

You are also another clueless clown I see.

S. 319 - Public incitement of hatred. Every one who, by communicating statements in a public place, incites hatred against any identifiable group where such incitement is likely to lead to a breach of the peace is guilty of [a crime].

Ergo, a sign that clearly says "Little Mosque on the Prairie / 2 dead girls in Greek Town" is pointing to the fact that Islam to be blamed when the crime had absolutely nothing to do with the religion. The "protestor" is trying to spread hate speech by blaming Islam in a place where Muslims and other residents in the Danforth area came to pay respects.

But in your eyes, words aren't violent. Thank god you are not the actual law.

Doesn't matter. Violence against protesters is not a good thing.

Tell me, what the fuck is he protesting, exactly? What policy?

People like him would be gidddy as fuck if all Muslims were thrown into ovens. At the end of the day, that's what he wants. Islam and Muslims to be utterly and completely eliminated, the ultimate result of them being othered and demonized enough in order to be considered subhuman. So excuse me if I don't consider him a fucking "protester".

Stop advocating violence

If you didn't forget the /s, then I strongly recommend these words to you:

Stop advocating for stupidity and then learn a thing or two about Canadian Law.

S. 319 - Public incitement of hatred. Every one who, by communicating statements in a public place, incites hatred against any identifiable group where such incitement is likely to lead to a breach of the peace is guilty of [a crime].

Ergo, the "protestor" incited a clear hate-based agenda and disturbed the peace of the vigil. But in your eyes, you willingly ignore this point to push your shitty "n-no violence!!!!" point.

Additionally, you should stop being a dumbass and actually learn some logic for once instead of defending shitheads:

1) The guy in the video is known to incite hate speech and has a record of doing so, that makes your already shitty defense even more shittier.

and most importantly

2) The Danforth shooting had nothing to do with radicalization according to Toronto Police. Making the so-called "protestor" even more of a dumbass, and you doubly so for thinking he didn't deserve what he got. Furthermore, Faisal had a history of mental illness considered to be extremely difficult to treat, and a record of saying he wanted to kill someone to a teacher. Both of which I don't see you or anyone addressing when it comes to defending this dickhead.

So next time you want to die on a hill to defend someone bc "M-MUH FREE ZBEECH," get a fucking clue first before you do so.

Got home from a walk (I live in the neighborhood) and thankfully the memorial site is pretty quiet and no clowns are present.

If you think this is bad, you should see the comments section decrying "muh free speech".

I agree, even if the asshole deserved it. This will be used by right wing media to paint us as the bad guys

When we're getting to the point that conservatives are totally okay with children being separated from their families, and being sexually assaulted while in detainment, and the epitome of conservatism has paid off porn stars to keep silent about infidelities, while ignoring rule of law, and people who run over anti-racism protesters are "very fine people," I don't think we really have to worry about those same guys being morally outraged by someone being dunked in a fountain. That's not about morality, that is about wanting the world to roll over and allow evil to hold sway, and then getting angry when some people don't.

No matter what you do, they will paint you and others in a bad light. They aren't playing by the same rules or logic. They don't care. If you are against retaliatory action for hate speech on moral grounds, that's fine, but don't base it off how bigot a might see you because they already feel vindicated in their hatred of you.

That guy is a perfect representation of people "just criticizing the religion", they claim that they're criticizing the religion, but all they show is hatred towards brown people.
