What? AC NH will be 810p a lot of times? So most pre release footage was marketing horseshit? Cause everything we've seen so far looked never less like 1080 and you would have seen it.

And sub native res with any movement in handheld mode? Oh fuck me, there goes all the hype, like completely.
they're talking about odyssey

I can't tell if if they are or if it's just the rotating of the camera making them "move"
They're definitely moving. There are moments in the clip where the camera doesn't move for 1-2 seconds, if you look at a straight line on the wallpaper then, you can see that the clouds change their position. It's so cool. I can't wait to discover all the things we haven't even seen yet!

Normally people now would argue like: A game like AC doesn't need good graphics.
That's weird to me since a huge part of the game is what your house and other things like the museum end up looking like.

It's not like the gameplay in the series is mindblowing.

I want everything clean as can be because with the portable ones, your items(especially the smaller ones) looked blurry and rough due to the image quality.

:( :( :(

The Gamexplain AC-style intro is 60fps and looks sooo smooth, and then it switches to actual gameplay and it's like, disappointment on a new level.

Imagine phone displays running in 30Hz. People would go crazy and complain how sluggish it all feels, even if you don't need fast inputs and all that. But for videogames we're supposed to be ok with 30fps.

If Mario Odyssey can be 60fps so can Animal Crossing. Or let's say Links Awakening, which even features a comparable art style.

I love your username haha quite relevant!

Framerate isn't as big as an issue for me, but I agree, how could they not get AC in 60fps? It can't be THAT demanding of a game?

The bag is fine and all but LOOK at those details on the once simplistic AC character. The textures and structure of the clothing. The lighting/shading. The socks and shoes. I love love the art design of this game just so much.

I see a lot of people ignoring the insane amount of work that has gone into creating all of the clothing in this game. It used to be different designs slapped on top of the same shirt/dress, now it's completely unique models with their own textures and materials and everything.

This is the main reason I'm excited to change outfits often. Everything looks so nice.

Yup material design/details is incredible and really adds a sense of warmth and texture to everything in the world.

If people settle for less then people will get less. As long as people are "ok" with 30fps we won't get anything better and that bugs me. 30fps is a technical compromise that has to go right now. We've played games in 60fps 25 years ago, and here we are in 2020, and people don't understand why others are not ok with 30.
A game like AC is exactly the type of game that benefits from better graphics rather than high framerate though lol. It's all about customization and cuteness, nobody cares about how smooth it is as long as it looks amazing. If to get it running at 60fps they had to scale down the graphics that would be a downgrade to most people, not an upgrade.

Thanks y'all! I don't know if I'd preload it then. Looking at the icon so soon would drive me crazy 😭

I just need to know how many villagers well be able to have in our islands, i have 10 amiibo cards of my favorites but 4 smug males would be kinda an overkill lol

I never got particularly investing in the fashion/furniture side of AC in New Leaf, because so much of it wasn't particularly appealing. I used to sell nearly all of it, lol.

But with New Horizons --

Yeah, I did the bare minimum to get gold from the HHA and barely touched any clothes at all. But NH is like a whole new world.

The only thing that bothered me in the recent footage is how much higher all of the animals' voices are. They're at least a full octave higher than they have been in past games and for the first time I'm worried they might be genuinely annoying. Their voices also feel a little more homogenized, losing some of the range they use to have.

Gulliver in New Horizons and City Folk (he sounded the same in New Leaf, but I couldn't find a clean video of him there) for comparison

I did notice that the male and female villager voices feel like they blend together a lot more. The male voices are veeery noticeably higher pitched this time.

It wasn't just the lack of detail in new leaf it was also the cumbersome interface that kept me from really caring about things like my clothes and my house. It's best to just find something you liked and stick with it forever. Everything about housing and clothing looks so good now, though. Could change clothes every day and still have fun with it now.

I love seeing all the different customized towns in these trailers! The game looks so fantastic. The character customization and the ability to place items outside adds so much to Animal Crossing. ❤

I thought I noticed this as well. Hopefully there is still a good deal of variety.

The potential homogenization of voices does seem like a problem, but as far as the voices in general go, I actually find them to be significantly more euphonious in NH - they're... softer, I guess. The tiny samples blend together more smoothly, so it sounds a lot less clicky than it has in the past.

Does having multiple player villagers in your town reduce the number of AI villagers that can live there?

If anyone doubted animated wallpaper from that tweet, that first commercial is absolute proof.
