This is the assumption that I think all logic points to. Does anything about Stu come across as the person who sees he's not being used and so is going to demand more money? This Canadian wrestling coach that's already donating his free time to doing stupid BTE bits and gym reviews for Evil Uno's blog? Gimme a break. Does everything we know about Tony indicate he'd try and pay Stu less and/or put him on a Tier 0 contract? Absolutely.
Listen, you could absolutely be spot-on w/ this assessment... However--for me, personally--when reading this news, my mind doesn't immediately come to the conclusion that this is the result of some iniquitous, exploitative action, but rather an unfortunate outcome of two parties simply not coming to terms on an agreement.
Bad take: People shouldn't talk about shitty things.

Good take: Let's talk about shitty things and hope they improve.
As of now--and knowing what (little) we know about the situation--I'm just not willing to go All In (heh...) w/ the notion that, because a thing is shitty, it must've come from a shitty person.

Level headed, reasonable, and mature. I like this.

Ya know, Captain Shawn Dean could really get the A'ight gimmick over. I think the fans would love it. Problem would be that it could become the new What chant.

I'm going to try to say this as un-condescendingly as possible.

The NFL draft just happened. Hundreds of players were picked and dozens more undrafted players were picked up on a contract. 25% of these people will never make any team, hell 10% won't even get to play a single down in a preseason game. Why, because they are not good enough?

NO, it is because there are only 53 spots on a team and many of those spots are for "specialist". Being great is not enough anymore. You have to be great AND fill a specialist roll AND it has to be one that your team needs filled. Right now Stu only fits one of those.
Is he a great wrestler? Yes.
Is he top 10? no....Top 20? Maybe
Is he filling a roll that no one else can do or have skills no one else has? No
Sometimes a football team has too many good players at one position so they have to trade one or let them go (can't really trade in wrestling) It sucks but that is the way it goes.

Full disclosure and devils advocate, my favorite AEW wrestler and the champion Hangman only fills one of those rolls too, the same one as Stu, being a great wrestler. Now I DO think Hangman is one of the top 10 or even 5 wrestler in the company, he's not filling a roll anyone else couldn't do. Like I said devils advocate. I want Stu around and hope they work it out, but we're going to have to be prepared to be upset at a lot of people going.

Now watch TK sign Rodrick Strong (who sucks nearly as much in and out the ring as Fish, don't kid yourselves) and make everything I just wrote moot

Yesssss. Setting my expectations to "banger." And a little more info:

I'm bummed about Stu. Without knowing the backstage details, and just reading it as is, this one sucks more to me because of the Dark Order and Brodie connection. I get not being able to re-sign everybody, but this one hits different for that alone.

Love Stoooo and I'm sure the door will be left open for him to return. Hope he finds success in whatever he chooses to do next. Unfortunate that he and Uno never got to have that championship run.

And I totally get why some are frustrated or upset.

Wait if Tony offered Stu a contract but Stu didn't like it so they didn't agree to it…Why is Tony a bad guy? This is at the end of the day still a business. We can shit on Tony for certain things like the booking of the Female roster. But let's not go overboard because Stu didn't agree to the offer Tony offered him.

I wish they would of done way more with the Dark Order after the passing of Brodie, instead of booking them as chumps non stop and just losing every match on TV. But as sad as it is Some of our favorite Mid-lower card guys are going to go away it's just nature of any entertainment business.

Like Stu a lot and this is unfortunate, but just cuz the contract ran out now doesn't mean he can't always come back one day.

Looking forward to whatever he does next. Zero opinion on the backstage dealings when we we're not privy to the deets. That could change if he talks about things later when/if he can, but until then. I got nothing.

I've made assumptions in the past on stuff like this and ended up looking like a total idiot as a result, so. lol

For now, we've reached the point three years in where some people will be re-signed and some won't, and I'm generally ready for that.

As long as nobody is being released before their contracts are up. That's the real bull shit IMO.

Fantastic to know we'll get to see at least one more of them in a future tournament match.

Don't see how you don't book Riho to win this one, but hmm… 🤔

Really looking forward to this one. Both women are top tier joshi talents. Rooting for them to kill it and rooting for Yuka in particular to have a better AEW summer than she did last year.

Two women's matches on a one-hour show? What is this devilry? Yes, I'm trying to distract myself with shiny happy things in light of the Stu news.

Yup 100% agree with everything you said here. At the end of the day once your contract is over you are a Free Agent that can go wherever. Tony letting contracts run out is one of the more noble things in the Wrestling business.

I get ya. I don't really have an argument to make based on Stu having proven the necessity of his spot. I know him from the indies and know what he's capable of, but I criticize other wrestlers for not showing up in AEW even if they have past excellence. So, on that front, yeah. Sometimes you get drafted and don't make the team.

Tony when Rampage gets a 300k (exaggeration) rating because the West Coast isn't even back from school or work yet: "Well darn it guys I tested the whole 2 women's matches thing, doesn't seem to be a draw"

But seriously, I kinda don't like seeing big first time singles matchups like Dax v Cash and Riho vs Yuka in a qualifier match. Right now the only build to it is that Riho pushed Yuka 2 years ago and maybe they'll get a short Road To segment

And Rampage still needs a centrepiece match announced that will get more of the fanbase hyped. Another New Japan surprise, or "CM Punk vs. Bryan Danielson because screw it"? 😃

So my cable box just shit the bed and I didn't keep up real well with the VPN discussion, does Express VPN still not work for FITE? If so, any VPNs that do work? Thought for a second I could live with skipping an episode but following along with this thread on a Wednesday is the highlight of my week.

Pretty awkward combination of sentences here:

"I was told of multiple wrestlers that Yukes has recorded motion captures for. One of the names that was confirmed to me that will be featured as a playable character in the game is Owen Hart. " 😱

I would of been kind of shocked if Owen wasn't in the game. Felt like that was going to happen the moment the partnership was announced.

50 wrestlers in the first game sound great to me. That will obviously be bolstered with some DLC along the way. What I'm hoping for is a nice selection of match types. It's been a dream of mine to play a War games/Blood and Guts match in a wrestling game (I'm not counting the M Dickie games lol). Stadium Stampede would be great too. Won't hype myself up too much though. This is the first of hopefully many games.

If anyone wants a quick recap of four times they've come across each other. Looks like this will be their first singles match.

I didn't realize the Stu Grayson stuff was so spicy. This is a consequence of having an oversized roster. AEW isn't going to be able to keep everyone forever. If they can't come to an agreement then that's it.

As for the game, the one bummer is the potential publisher. Why did they have to name drop THQ Nordic?
