Era: if a genie granted your wish to see exactly one web page, exactly 10 years from now, what would you pick? Please explain.
  • Would you pick something safe, like the homepage of the New York Times?
  • Would you pick stock market news or sports betting, and try to make some money like Biff Tannen?
  • Would you pick a news aggregator, like the OT page of Era, or Reddit or whatever?
  • Would you pick your own Facebook/social network page, to see what happens to you? Or would that be too spooky.
Rules:
  1. You only get one.
  2. It's exactly 10 years from today: so July 31st, give or take.
  3. The technology is guaranteed to work and load the page, no matter if the URL changes, etc.
  4. BUT if the site no longer exists, you'll just see an error message.
  5. You can scroll up and down the page, but can't click through any links or expand any sections.
  6. If the page is endless scrolling, you just get the first page of results.
  7. You can't print the page, screenshot, or write anything down, but will remember whatever you read.
  8. Let's say you have 15 minutes.
  9. The genie grants your wish to enable autoplay, and turn up the speakers, ahead of time.

I'd like to say a page like CNN or Washington post, but since I have no real ability to meaningfully affect any of that, fuck it, stock market page.

A stock index please... I feel like trying to remember lottery numbers might be harder than going "oh damn, what do you mean Tesla bought Apple and Google, they pulled out of it?!"

Probably look up some Wikipedia page listing all of the winners of a major sport. Then use that knowledge to get rich AF

Google news blank search, showing 1000 results per page. It'll have financials, etc.

The option that makes the most money. But genie sounds pretty stingy for giving only this kind of small wish... .

Am I guaranteed to remember it, like it's imprinted in my mind by the genie or am I relying solely on my own memory? If it's implanted in my memory and can easily recall it, give me the recent lottery numbers for the last 10 years and call it good.

Lotto Number History Page would be the best bet. I'd just spend the next 15 minutes remembering a single set of numbers and I'll be good to go.

Donald Trump's Wikipedia page.

But really, the poster above with the Super Bowl outcomes would make more sense. But I just want to know how this whole shitshow ends really.

Relegated teams of the EPL.

Easy to remember and the odds at the start of a season are always big no matter what team.

My first thought was a porn website but then I saw a bunch of actual smart suggestions in this thread, I'm bad at this.

Is there a crypto currency aggregator?

There is a chance between today and 10 years one of them or even a new one peaks during the period, then you buy some in the present (where they're their lowest) and cash in when it hits the peak.

It's gotta be something gambling related. Lotto, stocks, sports... Gonna go with a page showing the day's date and the winning lotto numbers.

As someone already posted, best one for this use would be coinmarketcap.com which lists from its main page the top 100 currencies and their values.

any one of googles major stock index pages would be good too, maybe spend a few days checking for all encompassing ones.

Sports and lottery are decent too, but I feel like its inherently riskier as its gambling, but still solid. Lottery especially if there's a page where you can see the past 10 years of numbers or something and win multiple times.

Basically like this:
http://www.megamillions.com/winning-numbers/search?startDate=1/1/2010&endDate=12/31/2018

but instead:
http://www.megamillions.com/winning-numbers/search?startDate=8/1/2018&endDate=12/31/2028
