Oh yeah, I only checked France and Switzerland, but those prices seem to be used everywhere, not just amazon
I'm no more off-topic than you are.If being told your repetitive and off-topic talking points aren't insightful bothers you that much, you may just want to block me for challenging your world view.
That´s simply not true.
I´d actually be more excited if this actually looked like FFVI. Because this "Homage the FFVI" style really did not come together IMO.
I think it´s a fairly ugly game even without the obnoxious post processing.
I´ve seen similar art styles done better.
Compare the price of Octopath to the price of Super Mario Odyssey for example, it is the same.
In France for example, games are usually cheaper because supermarkets are selling videogames without making any margins. Thus, you can find games at a lower price because of this competition. In dedicated shops (Micromania, indie shops), games are 60€ tho because they need those full margins to survive.
Good for you. Nothing about Octopath says "premium" to me though.
At least nothing I encountered in the demo.
Saying that this does not have the look of a current 60$ product is not far fetched:
At least TO ME.
While you're at it let us know about these other games with similar art style that did it better.Looking for a funny cherry picking gif. I´ll get back to when I find one ;)

That's true. The argument of whether or not Octopath Traveler is worth $60 has no place in this thread, so we both are.
You not gonna find nothing. What they posted is what the game look likeLooking for a funny cherry picking gif. I´ll get back to you when I find one ;)

So when the OT launches, will drive-bys and hot-takes on the price of the game be bannable?
I find it funny that you call out for "cherry picking" from the gif thread, when a page or two ago you picked out a single battle screenshot and propped it up as the evidence of why the game isn't worth $60 to you. I guess art really is subjective after all!Looking for a funny cherry picking gif. I´ll get back to you when I find one ;)

It looks okay but I like others were sadden that 2D Pixel art went one of two ways, either hand drawn sprites or back to 8-bit/16 bit inspired art. This game I think is an evolution of 2D art. That is just 3D pixel, which isn't the same thing and looks okay but I don't think it would've suited Octopath. The boss sprites for Octopath look amazing, these people understood what made FFVI and other SNES RPGs amazing and expanded on it.Just browse through the Voxel category on steam.
BTW, Imagine Octopath looking something like this:
That´s an Art Style I could get excited about.
I don't feel like these opinions are drive-bys and hot-takes. These posters have fair opinions, if you don't want to see them defend those opinions stop answering them. People usually don't come back with the same criticism if they are ignoredSo when the OT launches, will drive-bys and hot-takes on the price of the game be bannable?

I mean, the screenshot doens't tell antyhing beyon the visuals that indeed look nice.Good for you. Nothing about Octopath says "premium" to me though.

You're right it is fine. Its an opinion after allFrom that same thread.
Is it okay to say that this look muddy and boring and blurry? And I'm not talking about the depth of field here. Textures and sprites are blurry too.
Is it okay to say that early Saturn / Psone RPG like Grandia looked miles better than this.
Again, not to pile on that stupid discussion about price relative to the artstyle, but people can NOT like this kind of render.
Shouldn't there be some previews dropping today?
Anything to salvage this thread.
Game looks lovely! Will definitely buy in the future... Don't have spare money. I'll play the demo a bit for now. Can we use different users to try different paths in the demo? I read it blocks after 3 hours.
Played the Demo. Did not like the Art Style and hated the post processing. Thought it was neat overall, but not amazing or anything.
Thought to myself "whatever, it´s a Square game, I´ll bite for 20$", looked at the price and went "nope".

To each their own. I prefer Octopath's style by a mileFrom that same thread.

I did a quick photoshop. I still hate these effects but eh, I like this artstyle better
Thursday next week. Seems like every first party Nintendo game embargo has been lifting the day before launch.Sooooo
Do we know when the embargo lifts? I feel like I heard someone say tomorrow?
It's not out yet!You know what's way more fun than arguing about video games?
Just playing video games.

How do some of you post such embarrassing shit and not expect to be called out on it?Considering this looks like a 3DS tier JRPG ala Bravely Default, it absolutely should have been $40.
