I love the current design and fit of Airpods, making them go deeper to create a seal isn't something I necessarily want or need. That said, the Airpods have been one of my hands-down favorite products of the past couple years, so I'll probably jump in and at least try any new iteration they release. Really, I'd be happy with water resistance and a better battery.

you enjoy that they will fall out of your ears with so much as a sneeze, and running is impossible? They should have always had small rubber tips that inserted to hold them in.

I might grab these then. I have my cans for at home use but for out and about + gym use I have the old EarPods.

AirPods are great. I'm not sure I'd go for IEM versions of them though - I have more dedicated cans for when I want to tune out the world, and I wear my AirPods while working so I want to hear when someone needs my attention.

Yeah, this never happens, at least not to me.

the buds are completely smooth and have zero grip. they are big and rounded. The only way mine stay in my ears are with the earloop type silicon additions. Unless you have tiny ears that have perfect cups to hold them, they will fall out.

The vast majority of people don't have this issue. If it was even slightly a consistent occurrence, it would have been skewered on social media and in tech news for ages.

They're essentially perfect for most ear sizes. I'm not saying your experience isn't real, and I recognize that in extreme cases they don't work for everyone (my girlfriend can't wear them either because they're too big for her tiny ears), but they cover almost everyone.

Can you work out/ run with the current version? The normal wired headphones that came with the older iPhones (6S) don't even stay in my ears so I'm super skeptical.

Sweet. Love my AirPods. I have good headphones ar home but don't need like walking around with them. AirPods are super convincing and so compact.

Yep, my wife and I both have them and run and sweat a lot and have never had them fall out.

They're fine for the average person, but of course will be loose for people with bigge than average ear canals or too tight on those with smaller than average. So it is good they have a silicon tip solution coming for those who the current ones don't fit.

Cool.

Can they last 24 hours on a single charge?

Your AirPods can get up to 5 hours of listening time or 2 hours of talk time on a single charge. With multiple charges in your case, you get more than 24 hours of listening time, or up to 11 hours of talk time.

Unless you actually wear your earbuds 24 hours in a row, battery life isn't really an issue already and will only get better

My biggest issue with these is fit so if they somehow address that I'm in.

I personally won't buy anything Beats branded. I'm sure Apple is aware that there are connotations to the Beats brand that they don't want to intermix
Beats is a HUGE brand for Apple. The general public love them (and newer Beats are much improved over the first gen). Their only issue is that they are overpriced, but that could be said about any Apple product anyway.

If Apple's poorly designed earbuds don't fit in your ears, clearly you were born wrong

I like some apple products but their in house earphone design is trash. Every packed in pair I've received goes in the garbage

"It's not perfect for me therefore it sucks for everybody!"

Water resistance would be great. The main reason I've held off buying AirPods is because I want to use the for exercise and while I understand they appear to he somewhat resistant to water I don't want to take the chance of breaking such an expensive product.

Don't even worry about breaking them. I sweat like crazy while I work out and have had no issues for the year I've owned mine. Take the plunge and buy them, or wait for the new model.

Agreed, don't care for noise cancelling with all the cons that provides (deeper in-ear). Provide that in their over-head version.

No matter how it fits for you, there is no seal to funnel the sound into your ear canal. It's not fitted, and sound loss around the headphone speaker is undeniable. The older ones were way worse since the fronts were just flat, but even the newer ones let all ambient sounds in.

While true, not everyone wants noise cancelation. I only use my AirPods when jogging, working out and at my desk at work. I need to be able to hear things around me in those settings.

That said, it's great they're putting out some more options for people who want cancelation, don't get a good fit with the current ones, etc.

it's not cancellation. It's just reduction and focus. If you can't hear your own music/podcasts well over things around you, why even wear headphones?

I like them because they let ambient sounds in...

I also like that they just sort of sit there... not shoved into your ear canal. Foam tips get itchy for me.. and silicone gets sweaty and slips out.

I've never had that issue. Hell, I listened to podcasts with them while weedeating and mowing this weekend and could hear fine.

I've never been anything remotely close to an audiophile though, so I really don't give a shit about sound quality (other than broken shit like static). I just shelled out for these for the battery life and convenience as I was sick of pairing issues and interference with the cheaper ones I had for jogging etc. before.

I'm unable to use the airpods while mowing. Something about being outside plus the mower (maybe the magnetic force of the spinning blade?) makes the airpods cut out over and over and over. It's maddening.

Weird, must be something with your mower as I get zero drop outs.

I also get random dropouts with my phone (iPhone 6 Plus) just in my pocket walking normally outside. But not always. It's very inconsistent. Sometimes I have to hold my phone in my hand on the way to the train otherwise I get cut outs.

Could be due to age of the model. I assume when I finally upgrade this fall it will work somewhat better.

It may be worth having the Apple store check them out if there's one nearby My wife and I have had zero drops so far (only a couple months though) I'm on a 6s and she has a 7. From some other forums when I was researching them it seemed most who were getting drops tended to have defects and Apple swapped them when they took them in.

Interesting, I've never experienced this before.

Edit: Maybe I have. I feel like the BT range decreases when I'm running the mower. So now I just keep my phone on me. How far away is your phone during mowing?

Are they exactly the same shape as EarPods? I never use them because they fall out but I could try cutting up a pair so the cable doesn't tug on them as a trial

Gonna have to keep my eyes on these. I'm scared away because the current shape of the AirPods don't really stay in my ears. Even subtle design changes could work well for me.

I'll be there day 1 for these. Even with an Android phone the standard airpods work fantastic. Waterproof will be great, but I'm assuming the over the ear stuff will help with actually keeping them in your ear when near water.
