Sony got this gen but I cant see them going into next gen like this.

MS is going to rub this in sooo much when new consoles are coming. This will be the used games thing next go around.

Sony will be fine lol. Problem for MS was they didn't really have any selling points to fall back on. Sony still will likely have the very strong library going into next gen. Also the MS fuckery was something bad and different. Most games I've ever played would have all the progression and DLC locked to the original platform.

If you mean fine like how xbox is fine. Then yes I agree. I do think this will have some kind of effect on next gen sales.

But you missed his point. Sony always has games (most important variable) to compensate for their shitty practice. PS3 was a prime example.

Sony's games won't disappear. Also PS3 turned it around after a couple of years, not late into it.
I didnt say they were going to disappear. The fact that next gen is new and MS will have new experiences plus crossplay makes this next go around a little bit more interesting. Its not clear cut, especially if your reasoning is games when MS just bought a bunch of studios. Theres bound to be some good stuff coming form it.

I definitely think next gen is going to be more competitive like the Wii era. But Sony and nintendo have the pedigree whereas Microsoft has a lot to prove with their studio purchases.

I think that Epic will get fucked when Apple realises that purchases can be made on other storefronts and carry over to their OS

I actually think Sony is making a smart play here. Playing on PlayStation is an exclusive experience. It makes me feel like I've got a more premium product.
If you want to play with the exclusive PlayStation community, buy a PlayStation! Keeps the rift raft out.
I was about to say something about walls and Mexico, but I took a deep breath. But it's better for Sony to remove that #4theplayers from their marketing as soon as possible and change for #4ourplayers.

No I mean fine like how they're doing now. I highly doubt the average consumer cares all that much about this. They'll either stick to the same platform all their friends are on or they'll make a new free account.

Sony had jack shit for the first 2 years of the gen. Bloodborne and their price / performance helped them.

2014/2015 Was literally

Bloodborne
Infamous Second Son
Ratchet and Clank
Order 1886

Those (including tear away, driveclub, until dawn, mlb the show, etc) and indies helped a lot along with what you said about price/performance. Their third party partnerships also helped like with destiny.

What I'm saying is that if next gen has MS make a console that beats the PS5 in major areas (Power/Backwards compatibility) Sony can't afford to have such an awful first 2 years of titles.

Next gen BC will be huge. We are in a different era then last gen, games are played for years (The Division/Destiny/Siege/ect). I expect MS to have a native enhancements to all Xbox One games that increases resolution/AA. I am less sure of what Sony is capable of in terms BC and visual upgrades to those games.

Yeah but they blocked Steam recently

Apple blocked the ability to stream the Steam store to an iOS app so that your purchase would be made through Steam, bypassing Apple's cut even though you're technically using an iOS device app (which should give the revenue to Apple). Fortnite on iOS still makes you complete the purchase though Apple's system, so no, it won't be blocked.

I am saying the first two years wasnt as awful but yes they could've done better. Remember big AAA (especially exclusive ones) games now have longer development cycles unless you are churning through annual releases like Cod, etc.

Sony definitely needs to stop being arrogant and introduce BC and other consumer forward practices. Next gen will be more competitive and I hope everyone brings their A game.

Why does it have to make sense? It's their product they can do whatever the fuck they want.
Xbox should do 24 hour drm, it's their product, they can do whatever the fuck they want
Nintendo should make players pay for a voice chat app, it's their product, they can do whatever the fuck they want.

We're just a step removed from devolving to "HOORAH Playstation!! FUCK the competition!!!"

I'm talking about the PS4

O....k. Sure. Sony made the PS4.

But they didn't make Fortnite, so why does playing even ONCE on a PS4 mean you should be locked out from all other consoles? That's a bullshit stipulation they made to Epic and it's completely anti-consumer.

If they don't want PS4 players to play with Xbox or Switch, ok, whatever. But LOCKING OUT OUR ENTIRE ACCOUNT from doing so is garbage.

EA said it best...accept it or don't buy it....simple enough.

Buy what? Fortnite is free.

Way to gloss over the entire issue here.

I guess people were supposed to be psychic and know that their accounts would be locked to PS4 and wouldn't be able to work on the Switch version of Fortnite that never existed back then?

That's an asinine argument when it comes to things already purchased, and that no indication of this being a stipulation of playing on their platform was given.

Dude, Sony doesn't need another member of the Defense Force, so maybe take a step back and see that this IS a major issue for some people even if it's not one for you.

I'm not defending them. It's their policy. Anti-consumer or not. We didn't sign an agreement with Sony when we bought their console or when we downloaded Fortnite that there will be crossplay in the future. Hope they do change their mind though.
